Hel looks exactly like her grandmother and mother. Sparta probably gave her this name because of the November event, when Hel was seriously on the verge of burning her fur. Anyway, when Hel (the cub) was born, the queen wanted to raise her niece out of harm's way and certainly wouldn't allow her sister's hate to turn the pup into a demon. Obviously Sparta tried to get Hel to high positions but she didn't seem to care, too busy improving her battle skills (it's probably a family thing being a devilish winged battle beast with a name related to mythology).
Don't get me wrong, Hel isn't that good girl, but she seems to have enough of Dreamer's blood to think twice before challenging the Royal Family or killing someone... from the pack. Fate wants that Hel likes Athena and Thunder more than Sparta. It looks like Layla, ehm, Sparta will have to wait for a niece to have someone who will continue to bother the pack when she'll pass away.
She has a blind eye thanks to a Grizzly bear that finished in her stomach few minutes later.
It didn't take long for the Alphas to realize Hel was really a skilled Hunter and when Red will pass she'll replace her.
