Biography
Caelum blinked up at the night sky, green eyes wide with wonder. His mother's soft voice echoed in his ear. "One day, my little one, this will all be yours." This was her constant chant. Night after night she took him on top of the hill, showed him the forests and plains beyond, and whispered in his little ears. "One day, my little one, this will all be yours."
It was about a year and a half after his mother began this nightly ritual that an event happened that changed Caelum's world. In that time, he had learned to believe his mother's words. As the heir to the GreyStone Pack, he was revered far and wide among their pack, and the ones who looked up to GreyStone and payed the pack homage. He really believed he would own the world. And then- the event.
One night, Caelum was awakened out of a deep sleep by the warning howls of the sentries. Groggy, it took him a few moments to navigate his way out of the den. In that time, the howls died off one by one, filling him with a sense of urgency. As he stepped out of the cave mouth, light hit his dark sensitive eyes in a blinding flash. He squeezed his eyes shut, but not before he caught a blurry glimpse of horror. The air around him seemed charged with heat and fire. It snapped and crackled, and he could hear whines, and growls and hisses, and blending into a musical of bone-chilling noise. When his eyes had finally adjusted enough to open, he was greeted with a horrifying sight. The world was on fire. The clearing in which the alpha den opened to was surrounded by a ring of fire, that was slowly beginning to creep along the ground to where he stood. The acrid stench of smoke and burning filled his nostrils. Through the smoke and haze, he heard a victorious howl, and then a cry that made his blood run cold. "The alpha is dead! GreyStone is ours!"
They say in times like these, you have one of two instinctive reactions- flight or fight. Caelum's was flight. Without a second glance, he raced off into the night, the forest and plain lit up around him like a second, eerie day.
It was several months before he had the courage to come back. And when he did, he found that only a few had survived and found their way back. Many of the survivors had succumbed to the sickness, and very few remained. However, he also found a beautiful pewter female who had been chosen alpha in the absence of one of the bloodline. Rather than rejecting her, Caelum chose her as his mate, and ascended to his rightful place as alpha.
