Sighing quietly, her breath intermingling with the cool breeze that swept along the grasses and plants, Emiru watched the sky slowly lighten as it and the rest of the landscape slowly awoke from its sleep, rays peaking through the rows of trees that surrounded her. She remembered it all looking so much bigger many moons back, when she was a pup wandering around aimlessly as she tried to find another home. Her sharp claws dug little furrows into the dirt mound in which she sat on, the soft earth mixed in with shards of pebbles. As she surveyed the land, a glimmer of color caught her attention, a little ways west of where she was. Turning, her face immediately became cheerful as she saw Azusa coming towards her.
The brute always had pretended to dislike the pack, but she knew some part of him, much like her, was grateful to be there. From the start she had tried to work on his attitude, but it was nearly impossible as he was too stubborn to even try. Nevertheless, they were friends and she knew he would do anything to help her, besides expand on his personality. In the distance she spotted Eleva and her already bright expression went even more so; she felt deeply grateful for the alpha as she had taken her in and trained her to become the lead hunter she was today.
"Want to go out for a hunting patrol?" Azusa inquired once he was close enough to her. His eyes shined in the light and she could see her own self reflected in his gaze. Standing up, she went a step closer to playfully nudge him.
"Always. Last one to kill an elk has to drag both back!" She let out a barking laugh as she sprinted for the forest, hearing him hurriedly try to catch up. The sun finally broke over the trees, spilling warm light over all of the trees and the two wolves running below. Letting out a small, slightly tuneless howl of joy, Emiru heard Azusa add his beautiful voice with it. Just another wonderful morning hunt.
