*Crack*
A large streaking bolt of lightning illuminated with dark overcast sky as the winds bent the trees into deep arches as they groaned in protest. A loud snap from somewhere in the dark forest indicated that one of the trees had given in to the winds force. It was the worst storm the Fangs of Fire pack had seen in moons, but as they huddled in shelters made from fallen trees and a rocky outcrop, one omega curled her fluffy black tail around herself as the rain droplets matted down her black and tan fur, she feared the stress of the storm would harm her unborn pups. RedLightning was an elderly omega in the Fangs of Fire pack, and she’d only ever seen a storm this back once before, the night of the red sky.
Years ago, before RedLightning was old enough to hunt, dark ominous storm clouds rolled into the valley she lived In and instantly everyone was on edge. At the time, Redlightning was nameless, but dreamed of a cool name like her mother Redfoot or her father Dark Lightning. As the storm continued to build and swirl in the sky as the midday sun disappeared causing the valley to appear as though it was dusk or later. All the pups were being ushered into the den, but RedLightning hid in a bush because she wanted to watch the storm. The pack must’ve though the little black pup was hiding in the den because they didn’t come looking for her. Suddenly, the sky lite up not in a clear white light, but in a dark red bolt of light from an unstable shaft of lightning that struck the center of the valley. RedLightning’s little silhouette was barely seen ducked behind a bush when the lightning hit, she was soon pulled into the den as the sky opened into a torrential downpour. RedLightning would remember that day as she aged and a large reddish tan patch appeared on her shoulders, not in a lightening shape, but as a reminder that she bared witness to the storm famously known as Red Sky or better-known Red Lightning.

RedLightning is caring to all pups and kind to all. She can be grumpy if woken from a nap or her favorite dream. She loves to play with the pups but with her old age, she has taken to telling stories to the young ones. RedLightning is my first defect and chim, and even though she hasn't given me a chin-she still has a place in my heart.
