Rockpaw headed over to Redfeathers den during the middle of the night. "We need to talk.." Rockpaw began.

Redfeather opened his eyes widely, questioning what happened since it was the middle of the night. "What is it?"

Rockpaw awkwardly paced. "Well.. I'm thinking of leaving the clan.."

Redfeather jumped to all his paws. "What?! You can't ... You can't leave!?"

Rockpaw instinctively hushed Redfeather. "Shh.. no one else could wake... Listen Redfeather.. its not you.. it's just.. I think I wasn't meant to clan life."

Redfeather sunk his head. "But I really liked you Rockpaw."

Rockpaw sighed, "It's for the best I leave. I never felt like I belonged.." Rockpaws eyes landed on a sleeping Sunpup. "It seems like you won't miss me."

Redfeather shook his head. "Of course I'll miss you.. Sunpup will be my apprentice." His eyes locked onto Rockpaw.

Rockpaw stared back into Redfeathers eyes. "When I get my warrior name I will challenge Ochrestar and I... Will get banished." Rockpaw sighed.

Redfeather looked worried. "You know that anyone who challenges the leader gets banned."

"That's the point." Rockpaw lashed his tail.

Redfeather began to tear up. "You...You can't leave me Rockpaw! You're the only thing I have. I feel like I don't belong here either... But look! I stay. Because I have a duty. A duty to heal my clanmates. Don't be selfish." Redfeathers sorrowful eyes turned to anger.

Rockpaw flinched back from the anger in Redfeathers eyes. "I'm sorry Redfeather. Ill always love you." Rockpaw turned to leave not looking back. He knew if he saw Redfeathers painful expression, he wouldn't have the courage to leave.
