Biography "Shut up and eat your food," she said with a wily smile, giving the big brute a nudge to his cheek. He rolled his eyes and plopped down onto his stomach, gnawing at the tendons of their most recent hunt. Dumat watched her brother fondly; he was her most dearest friend, despite his overbearing and gruff nature. She watched his notched ears flick and the glimmer in his green eyes as they searched for the most tender pieces of the meat on the slab he worked on. The sister's eyes glanced at his side then, where he had been wounded. And it had been her fault. Bahati, she and a few of the other wolves had been hunting, set on taking down a large bull elk in order to feed the entire pack. Her brother was spitting orders to the others as he crouched his towering frame into the tall grass. He had worked for this for so long; training under the best hunters in the pack, and from the alphas themselves. It was his first hunt as the new lead hunter, and he was set on making the retired that had trained him, and his pack that depended on him, proud. While the others seamlessly followed Bahati and began to close in on the elk at hand, Dumat had quickened her pace drastically. She thought that she was in a good position to strike first, and disobeyed her brother's heeding words. She had been told to stay back until the elk was fallen when her brother had distributed orders prior, and was to quickly make the kill once the elk had been knocked over and pinned. She assumed it was her brother's way of making sure she'd be protected from the kicking hooves, and had only intended to strike at this moment to prove her worth to her brother. Only, when she had sprung out of the grass and latched her fangs into the elk's shoulder, things had not gone as planned. The beast had gone to swing his head and spear her on his antlers, but Bahati ran to close the gap between Dumat and the towering elk. She felt her brother's side ram against her own, and his pained yelping following his stabbing. The others attacked then, taking down the elk. Bahati was limp before the elk, and Dumat was standing after being shoved away from the danger. She had dropped to his side and cried, his blood dripping onto the cold ground. She thought that he was dead, and perhaps he had been in that moment for a few seconds, but shortly after she felt the slow thud of his heart against her chin on his shoulder. "Bahati," she whispered. The others crowded around the siblings, and while some assured her that things would be alright, the older hunters snarled and scolded her. She had endangered them all, and she had been the reason for her brother's pain. ... He did not open his eyes for three days, and she hadn't left his side the entire time. They were tucked into her small burrow, side by side, with her head on his paws. She'd talk to him about what they'd do when he recovered, and how sorry that she was, but she wasn't sure if he'd been able to hear in his comatose state. "I love you. I'm sorry." ... "I'm sure I'll be able to walk again soon," Bahati said through a mouthful of food. His side was scabbed and scarred, the fur scarce on that side of his body. She timidly smiled, nodded, and sat before him. She could hear a tinge of resentment in his tone, but knew that he was trying to fight it. Her brother always tried to make her feel better.

The rest had always thought she was odd, and Dumat would have been a full-fledged outcast in the pack if it hadn't been for her brother. He was so loved by everyone, and Dumat felt like a shadow at his side. He taught her to hunt and fish, after she had difficulty learning. She insisted that she joined his hunting parties, and serves as a huntress in training.
