Cupid comes from a long line of Cupids, materializing in the very spot where the last Cupid disintegrated into feathers and angel dust. Like the rest of the Cupids, she spent her youth winging through the sky, striking young lovers with the arrows of affection and leaving them to play out their romances. It was an age of innocence, when there was nothing to love but laughter and wonder. But it couldn't last. Cupid had never fallen in love herself: in fact, none of the Cupids had, for it was impossible for a divine creature such as her to fall in love. Or so she thought. When she first met Labyrinth of Dreams, he seemed like an angel with the mask of a demon. He was kind to her, he wheedled and spoke circles around her, and something began to stir. Was this love? Cupid, naive and young, was delighted to have some of this worldly love for herself. She fell utterly and completely. She gave him everything. That was exactly what he wanted. He pulled it all out from under her feet and left her shattered and wondering how this was possible. Surely love couldn't be faked? She wallowed in self-pity, unable to understand what had happened. That was when she decided to see for herself what this love was all really about. She descended to the ground and spent time among the mortals, trying to understand love. She never did come to a conclusion, but she saw some truly cruel things in her time, and as she experimented with love, she left many men with broken hearts without meaning to. She finally gave up, and she knew there was only one person who could explain this. Labyrinth. She tracked him down, and she did something she had never done: she used her arrows as weapons, and she threatened him with love. He mocked her ad told her that love was a lie, and nothing but desire. She still loved him, but she understood now, and she began to spread the poison of love to those she thought deserved it. But she still had a soft spot, and sometimes would do good. And she always returned to Labyrinth, even knowing as she did that he didn't love her.
"That which is done out of love is beyond good and evil." - Friedrich Nietzsche
Pistol cocked, the smoke fades grey Shot through the heart like another fool Call for your lover to come out and play Promise this time won't be so cruel Bullets pierce The hate is fierce
Bowstring twangs, the arrow true Shot through the heart like lovers are Knowing the joy of being two Together forever, never far Arrows pierce There's no more tears
Cupid was a demi-angel - technically, she still is. But things have changed for her, and she has grown to revile the world which she roams, and her notions of love change with the wind. Sometimes she wonders: what is love but fleeting, physical? Sometimes it is to her the purest thing in the world. The wolves here don't call her an angel - they call her a witch. She has grown interested in potions of false love, burning passion that leaves within moments, tormenting wolves with what they mistake for true love. She doesn't seem to notice the wrong she's doing. She has abandoned her angelic ways and instead gravitates towards the darkness - but she does not serve it, for she serves nobody. There's something in her eyes, the way she holds herself, that makes dread blossom in the chest of the mightiest warrior. It's inexplicable - her looks certainly aren't intimidating, but she's just terrifying. Perhaps it's the power she holds. The death that she can bring. She was born a healer, a lover, but something of that has corrupted. Nothing about her is hidden, including the darkness within, and she puts every aspect of herself on display for all to see. Some say that she's proud, self-centered, that she believes the world revolves around her. Maybe that's true. She is the temptress, and the follow her is a gamble - her fleeting fancies may lead you to love or ruin. Even the most pious wolves have trouble resisting her influence. It's not that she's anything special, but she's irresistible nonetheless. Like love itself, she's a risk, bound to leave with the wind but so enchanting while she lasts.
