Biography "Beloved".

"Why don't you just stay?", Balesh said. There was no trace of disingenuousness in his voice.
He could tell that despite her strenght the older female was almost at the end of her run. Her fur was no longer glossy and was matted around her legs, which had signs of settling arthritis. He could smell the rot in her breath. But as she spoke her voice was steady and pronounced, and a fire was still dancing behind her eyes.
"Do you know what it feels like to be away from your birthplace, young wolf?", she asked while turning to stare at him with an unreadable expression. Irritation? Regret? He couldn't tell.
Balesh shrugged. He wasn't born of this land and didn't really feel one way or another, but sensed he should stay quiet. Querida looked at him for a moment and then continued.
"No matter where your roots are, once you have left you'll be forever longing. A wolf from the mountains will not be satiated until he drinks the water of his mountains: one from the swamps will not feel the joy of running without the marsh under his paws. And a deserts soul will forever pine after the stars that led his way so many times." She paused and looked at the pale trees swaying in the wind.
"Nothing is new under the sun. I've made my pack and lost it. I've seen my pups born. I've seen my pups die. I've travelled to the ends of the earth and yet my soul craves back to its birthplace. But I am tired", she barked, her voice now light from laughter but with some obvious bitterness.
Balesh couldn't help but wonder whether he was witnessing his own future in this old female. But he shrugged the thought off confidently after a while: the pack was stronger than ever, they had food, and he had his mate by his side.
They stood there silently for a minute, listening to the trees. And then she let herself be led to the camp.
