The Ugly One wasn't always this mistreated wolf's name. When he was a puppy, he had the most beautiful coat in all the lands, his vibrant colors shining in the daylight, catching the 'awes' of many around him. They named him, "The Beautiful One". The only thing that wasn't beautiful was what was within. He had a snobby and careless personality, looking down on everyone that wasn't as beautiful as him. Each day he'd snare at his packmates, judging them in every way possible. He never thought about the consequences, he just did as he pleased and expected others to take it lightly.
One day, on a cold, foggy evening, the beautiful male wolf, now fully grown, walked through a swamp. He gagged at the murky, dense waters as he struggled to leap over the heaps of moss. He was beginning to think his reasoning for this travel wasn't worth it. He had come here to become the most beautiful wolf in the world - and to do that, he needed to visit the famous Mágico, a magical she-wolf who could grant any living creature's wish.
At last, he had arrived at his destination.
"Come in, come in!" Said a raspy voice. He couldn't help but shiver at the sound of her voice. He stepped in the dark, creaking cabin. Opening the door, he gasped as the ugliest wolf he had ever seen was waiting for him, her one eye staring at him. "I've been watching you.." She laughed.
"I-I...I think I have the wrong place." He gagged, suggestively implying that she was hideous with his body language. Frowning, Mágico closed the door behind him, "No, boy, this is exactly what you wanted. This is the path you chose."
The Beautiful One felt a weird tingle in his fur, he looked down to see his vibrant colors fading to an ugly dark orche, his once beautiful underbelly fading into a dark chocolate brown, along with red and cream patches forming around his body. Frightened, the once beautiful male screamed as he looked in the mirror to see an ugly, darkly colored, flax wolf staring back at him. "w-wh...WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME?!?" He screamed at her. "CHANGE ME BACK! CHANGE ME BACK NOW!"
The magical she-wolf only stared in pity. Shaking her head, she forced him out without another word. He sat in the murky waters, staring at his reflection in disbelief. "I..didn't.." He attempted to choke words out of his mouth, trying to calm himself down. "I didn't deserve...this..." Letting his legs give out, the now ugly male wolf lay in the dense water. He now found the water to be just like him, in a way. Ugly shades of brown and red, and a dense disgusting feeling to it. He sat up, lapping at his matted fur desperately. He then got up and made his way back to his camp, wondering what the others would think of him.
As he got there, he heard shouts and screams, mummers and whispers,
"Who is that?"
"Why is he so ugly?" They laughed,
"Ew! He looks just like a swamp monster! Haha!"
As he spent time back at camp, the insults began to soak in, until he was no longer bothered by them. "Look, that's the ugly one I was talking about!" they whispered, giggling as they walked by him. This became routine. Get insulted, listen to rude comments and harsh words, get bullied by higher-ups, and be sent to his den alone, never to have social contact again.
"This is my life now," He said, "I am The Ugly One."
