"Momma, why are we leaving?" The silvery-black female stopped her gathering to look down at the small dappled pup, her huge, multi-colored eyes wide with excitement and curiosity. "Because, Rahna, the land is getting overcrowded with packs. There are too many here and we must leave in order to find a place for you and the future pups to thrive at. Now, move along and get your father for me." Rahna gave her mother a quick nod before bounding off, her red dapple pelt flashing in the sunlight. "Papa! Papa!" she cried, racing over to the proud-looking, tall red dappled wolf. "Well, if it isn't my Rahna!" he laughed, leaning down to lick at a patch of wild, downy fur on her head. "What are you in such a hurry for?" "Papa, Momma wants you," she replied breathlessly as she gazed into his bright blue eyes. "Alright, Rahna. Thank you. Go ahead and run along. I'm sure Splice would love a playmate." "Yes Papa!" Rahna cried, running off with a yip over to the oddly colored male pup.
"Hello, Splice!" Rahna greeted and the male pup looked up at her, his aqua blue eyes flashing. "Hello, Rahna. How are you today?" "Eh, not too bad, Splice. How about you? Has Auntie Clara snapped at you again today." "Actually, she hasn't been that bad today," he replied, tilting his head slightly. "Thanks for asking." "Of course, Splice! You're my best friend. We'll always be together. Through thick and thin, we'll always be together."

"Momma? Auntie Clara? Daddy? Where are you guys?" Standing on her tippy toes, Rahna struggled to look through the gleaming, snowy whiteness of the world. Nearby, Splice laid in the snow, curled up and shivering, with a slightly twisted paw. He had stumbled and fell and Rahna had gone to help him. It didn't take long for the two small pups to get lost in this white blizzard.
"Rahna, go ahead and go on. I'm not going anywhere with this twisted paw but you might be able to catch up with the pack. Go ahead and go." "Never!" Rahna cried, dashing back to the male pup and curling up beside him. "I will never leave you. I promised we'd always be together and I mean it." Relief flashed through Splice's teal eyes as his gaze met Rahna's blue-and-green gaze and the pups struggled to huddle together with warmth.
Misty forms began to appear out of the windy sheets of ice and snow, causing the pups to jump in fear before huddling closer together, no trembling from fear rather than cold. "Come little ones. We will not hurt you," a voice soothed as a beautiful wolf appeared from the snowy wind. "We're just going to help you. Don't worry, little ones." Wolves began to step out of the mist and began to lay down around the pups, helping keep them warm against the cold. "Wh-who are you?" Rahna whimpered to the female from before. "We're the pack of Ciao and you're safe now. Go ahead and rest and we'll take you home come morning."
