Biography
The cool breeze of the October night sent chills up his back. He heard the wind whispering secrets through the trees, and saw the exaggerated faces the branches made on the ground. The full, blood red moon tinted everything in a bloody shadow. This was the first night of the 3 phase Full Moon period. He was feeling uneasy, waiting, pacing back and forth, in front of the den.
"Yipe!"
All he heard coming from the den was the screeching of pain. This went on for hours. Finally, things went quite. He ran into the den, and there it was. She was lying on the ground, not saying anything.
She was curled up next to a lava looking puppy, who was nursing on an exhausted mother. His heart dropped. He was worried for both the mother and his pup. The only thing that kept rolling through his mind was a sinister voice saying,
"On a special night, a special puppy with a hellish look and bright Topaz eyes will be born, and I will come for him."
He curled up next to the female. He tried to relax, but he jumped at every little noise. She still didn't know, and he never wanted her to.
The next morning had a crisp fall scent. You would hear the smaller critters run and scurry across the crunching leaves. There was a cool wind, but the glow of the Sun's light still bared warmth.
The puppy started whimpering and scooting across the den floor. The mother, still exhausted, was cleaning him up and positioning him to nurse. The father went out to get some breakfast after, the eventful night they had went through. He was distracted though. Was this the Topaz eyed pup he would come for? It had seemed so long ago, so faint, so unreal. But he couldn't focus on anything else.
About an hour later, he returns with 2 rabbits in his mouth. The puppy was crawling around the sleeping mother. To his surprise, the puppy's eyes were open, and they were as white as ice. He sighed in relief, and put the food aside. He went to the pup and nuzzled him, finally able to relax.
He spent the whole day with the pup while the mother rested and healed. He played with the pup, cuddled him, and made sure he stayed nice and warm. This was his first pup, and he loved him to death. He prayed to God that nothing would happen to this pup, and swore he would fight for him. That night he rested, curled up, next to the pup and his mother.
In the morning, he went out to get more food, excited for the new day with his pup. He was more focused, and eager to get home. He pranced on his way back to the cave, with 3 squirrels hanging from his mouth by their tails. He set them down right inside the cave. The mother went to go eat, and he noticed the pup wasn't awake yet. He went over and started to poke and nuzzle the pup with his nose. The puppy yawned and opened his bright eyes.
"Oh, shit!" He threw his head up, and his heart started pounding through his chest.
"What is it?" The mother asked, suddenly worried by his reaction.
He could barely spit it out of his mouth. "H-His eyes... They changed color... They are Topaz!"
"What's wrong with that?" The mother asked. "Oh, uh... Nothing," he responded. "Just very unexpected." He started to get lost in thought. Every minute he lingered on it, he got more and more worried. Tonight was the third phase of the full moon, and he would never be prepared for what's about to happen.
