"About damn time.." Dusk slipped into the den that Esmeray had labored in.
The female laid still, chest still heaving from exhaustion of the birth. Kaval still waited outside, a bit restless to see if they were dealing with yet another dud litter.
Sorting through the pups, Dusk noticed most were dappled just like Ivaylo's litter had been. Perhaps the genetics for that fur was strong.
"Male and Female again.." Dusk placed the two duds carelessly to the side, ignoring the whining that came from them as the pups tumbled over each other in an attempt to return to the safe warmth of their mother. Esmeray didn't even look at them. "At least I'll be getting some bones from these ones, though I'm not sure how much good that'll do me."
Finally, Dusk gave a soft gasp and scooped up yet another dark furred bundle. "Yes! Two litters! What luck this season!"
Esmeray sighed softly as the Mela pup was laid right next to her.
"A female as well," Dusk had checked before placing the pup back. She lifted the siblings of the pup and handed them off to Kaval, who had peeked in after hearing Dusk gasp. The male disappeared with the pups. "Let's name her.. Lailah. Beautiful job, Esmeray. You and your daughter both."
