Barcelona was born to the original alphas, Preacher and Samara. Even as a pup, the headstrong and intelligent female understood that her eventual control of the still-young pack would make or break the group. She had a legacy to protect and a pack to preserve.
Her relationship with her parents was, well, strained. There was never any question about which son or daughter would gain control after Preacher and Samara passed. Previous litters had dispersed already and Lona's littermates hadn't made it through the bitterly cold childhood of a wolf in the North. Preacher, strict and stoic as he was, expected her to rule just as he did-- with an iron paw. Fierce but protective. She and Samara were constantly getting into spats over smaller and smaller matters.
