Jellal is a quiet wolf, though by no means shy - he can hold a conversation, even if he prefers not to. HeÂ’s a bit of a loner, trying to separate himself despite longing for company. He has a great deal of wisdom for one so young, though he does not often recognize it as so. He struggles with the spirit within him, and his mood swings are insane to deal with - sometimes heÂ’s sweetly reclusive, sometimes crabby and alone. He maintains a positive outlook for Ezra, though, no matter how hard. He does have flashes of aggression, and has been known to return from hunting spattered with blood and carrying nothing more than a little rabbit. He has an air of distraction and constant, thrumming pain about him that elicits some wary sympathy.
Jellal was born to a wholly undesirable wolf in a pack of questionable morals in contact with the spirits. JellalÂ’s siblings died at an early age, not strong enough to survive the harsh winter that followed their birth. The prey was scarce, and Jellal was the least of anyoneÂ’s concerns. His mother was no shaman, but she knew of the ancient ritual bonding the spirits of two wolves, one dead and one alive, so that the living one would grow stronger. She attempted this ritual without permission - and sure enough, it went terribly wrong. She wasnÂ’t skilled enough to control it, but her intense desire for a strong spirit to embody her boy summoned a terrible but powerful figure from the packÂ’s murky past. JellalÂ’s mother couldnÂ’t hide it - his fur had turned the golden-white of the spirit world, and all wolves could see it. His mother fled with him, trying to keep him safe, teaching him what she could about controlling his invasive spirit. But all the same he killed, killed everything in sight, killed wolves who wandered too close. The spirit within him saw the danger of having her around, and she was disposed of. With nobody now but himself, Jellal wrangled the spirit and wandered, lost and afraid, until he was taken in. HeÂ’s still frightened, very much so, but has a certain confidence in his abilities that allows him to stay. HeÂ’s begun to fall for Ezra, and hopes to start a family with her some day.
