"Goodbye, my son."
The female nuzzled her youngest son, his puphood over and his time to set off and find a queen to rule by his side has come. The juvenile knew how to hunt and fight, so he was pretty much all set to go create a kingdom of his own. As the youngest, that was his job, as his older brother had taken the spotlight as heir. He was trained for this since the moment he was born. He was ready.
The male set off, spending a good portion of his journey alone. He dug a den underneath a tree for shelter. He lived off of fat rabbits and the occasional stubborn fox. He wasn't unhappy with this life, yet he knew it would be a matter of time before he /needed/ to find a mate and settle down.
The young male came across a female lapping at the running currents of a stream Austen had arrived at. It was a border that separated his family's territory from another. The female gazed at the male, tail twitching in friendly greeting.
Looks like Austen had finally found his mate..
