Biography Named for dear friend Maddie.
It was on a night like this, so utterly silent and pitch black that her sharp eyes could not even detect the glisten of wet fog wreathed around her legs, when her darkest memories became seared inside her mind. Only silence drowned the screams. Legend said the dark tears she shed were so numerous, heavy, and black they had become a permanent stain on her face. It was not far from the truth. Nowadays she rarely went anywhere without her bodyguards: Shazam, the lofty greyhound, and Eileen, an Australian border collie, the solace of their company drawn from their shared pasts as both runaways, running from the dark to seek a world with more light. Yet tonight, not even Eileen's bright blue eyes could penetrate the bible black sky, but that did not matter. There were some things Maddisa needed to face alone, and it was only appropriate to be alone with a night that seemed as lonely as her, without even the wind or moonlight to keep them company. She did not yet know what she sought as she could even not see, but suddenly, she could sense the movement ruffling through the still air and smell a familiar scent: ravens. Bringers of change and fortune. It was the ravens who had brought her that dreadful news of carnage, yet it was the ravens who had led her to food and shelter in her darkest times. She felt one of them alight above her head and vainly grasp its small claws at her black top hat. Maddisa let out a small chuckle and swished her thick tail in gesture of happiness. Perhaps there was hope after all.

Maddisa bounded up the crest of the grassy hill, her thick, black striped tail waving in the dusky breeze. It felt good to feel the cool soil thumping against her paws again; there was nothing quite like the euphoric sensation of running free, especially in such ideal weather. At times like this, she occasionally worried as she contemplated the horror of never being able to run again but pushed the intrusive thoughts away. She hoped no permanent injury would ever cause that to happen to her. Her injured paw had only healed recently, and a faint twang of pain still shot up her left front ankle each time it met the ground, but she didn't mind. She needed to feel the open wind ruffling through her fur again. As the breeze drifted, pungent scent hit her nose: blood. The smell of blood, rabbit blood to be exact, and fresh to boot. Her belly gave a slight growl, a reminder and she had came out here to hunt. But there was an unfamiliar scent too, that of a she-wolf. Suspicious now, Maddisa slowed and crept. To be fair, these were ambiguous territories . Through the dense cluster of bushes ahead, she could see the figure of a pale she-wolf with her fresh kill. Madissa considered scaring the strange wolf away, but stopped herself as she noticed the wolf's emaciated figure. Fierce as she liked to portray herself, she was not devoid of empathy, so she decided to let the wolf eat, quietly observing. But, why was the wolf gagging? Shouldn't such a hungry creature be elated at the meal of fresh meat? Curiosity swept through Madissa's mind, and she crept forward again, only to have the abrupt snapping of a branch halt her, sending a brief jolt of panic up her spine. Curse this wretched paw! She thought with a twang of annoyance.
