Saaskhán was born in the Dark Forest of Ulu-Tay, where the wet ground is covered by thousands herbs, and thick ferns are higher than a grown wolf, and the skies are hidden from the view by green krones of huge trees.
She was born to a pair of lone wolves, in a cozy den under an old pine tree. Like her parents and siblings, she was the color of rocks, and shadows, and pebbles in a forest creek, and her eyes were the color of light pine bark.
She was growing up, playing with her brothers and sisters, exploring the new world she came into.
She reached her second Full Moon than a Man came to their den. The Man killed her father and the Man killed her mother. Then, the Man killed her brothers and her sisters. Saaskhán was hiding in bush near the den. Frozen in terror, she watched the Man killed her family. When the Man has gone, Saaskhán darted away and was running through the forest till she fell down with exhaustion. She was lying in grass, mourning her family. Then she fell asleep.
When she woke up next morning, she was starving. She tried to catch a bird, but the bird flew away. She tried to catch a mouse, but the mouse scuttled inside its hole. Then Saaskhán found some bugs and ate them. The bugs were bitter, but they eased her hunger a bit.
She lived like that, all alone in a huge forest, for several days - eating bugs and sleeping amidst wood roots.
