Amka is the daughter of Miyax and Val and the older sister of Vasily. When she was young, Amka was secretly nervous about being the heir and felt the weight of it trying to drag her down. As a juvenile on her first patrol, she fell into a rushing river and was saved by another juvenile named Nikolai. Her parents were grateful to him. She and Nikolai had three sons which are now all dead.
