Zephyr's family didn't want a burden.
When the little dark female was born, her mother immedietly saw something wrong. She didn't move enough, and when she did, her legs hardly kicked. It was unusual, and something the mother did not recognize from her previous litters.
As was custom in the lands Zephyr was born in, the weak were never kept long. As the day of abandonment neared, her older brother Hiraeth worried. He had grown to love the frisky pup, who despite her disabilities always seemed energetic and ready to run. So when the day came, he begged his parents to keep the pup.
They were not discouraged. And when they turned to leave, Hiraeth did not follow. Instead he moved to retrieve the pup, and left the lands of their birth. Hiraeth would be Zephyr's caretaker.

Special Skills
Zephyr was born with the defect spina bifida, which means that her spine was not formed properly. Due to this she experiences moments when she can't move properly, or when she experiences partial paralysis in her hind legs. This makes her a horrible hunter. So, she instead plays with herbs she finds and has developed a rather broad knowledge in medicine and healing properties of plants.
Despite her physical impairments, Zephyr loves adventure and frequently gets into trouble due to her mischievous antics.
