Biography White Sky, or Sky as her friends call her, is the most senior member of the pack. She ran with two packs before finally settling with the Singers. She left her last pack after losing not one but 2 litters of pups (both single males). Coming from a mountain range, as she neared the bottom she met her now packmate & best friend Emma, who had also lost her pup. They spent of a bit of time in a clearing at the base of the mountain eating only rabbits & consoling each other. After about a moon White Sky decided it was time to move on & establish herself in another pack. She hated to leave her, but Emma wasnt ready to move on yet. They vowed they would meet again though & as it would turn out fate agreed with them.
There was a small stream that flowed down the mountain, not far from the clearing, so Skye decided following that would be her best bet. Following it for miles the stream began to widen into a river, just the right size for fishing & swimming. The plants also changed. The next morning Skye reached a spot where a large boulder soaked up the sunlight & Willow trees grew as far as the eye could see. The area smelled of sun & prey with no territorial markers to be whiffed. As White Sky entered this peaceful & beautiful place two other wolves also came into view. These were a much younger Chance & a pregnant Harmony. As usual Chance openly approached & exposed pleasantries while Harmony guardedly watched the interaction. White Sky told her story first & then Chance told theirs also mentioning that he & his mate had found the spot the day before & planned to establish territory in this place. Seeing an opportunity, White Sky asked if he would consider allowing her to become part of this new pack. Chance told her that she sounded like she needed a new start as much as they did, & as long as her intentions were true she was more than welcome.
They spent the better part of the day digging a cave out of the base of the boulder & getting better acquainted with even Harmony piping up here & there. Then as the summer day started to cool they settled for some simple critter hunting. The hunt was a good one with more then enough food for the 3 of them. As the moon rose they brought their banquet down to the little pool by the river, & before starting their meal all 3 lapped from the pool. Suddenly White Sky was overcome by the feeling that this place was right, & as she felt this the 3 wolves started to glow silver. All of her hardships forgotten for a while, she dropped her squirrel & started to pace the bank, howling her thanks to the moon & skies. Seconds later the young pair joined her. It was a night of celebration & pure joy, their calls echoing for miles. This is when the name "Singers of the Moon" was born.
The next morning White Sky awoke & looked around. The memories from the night prior filling her thoughts. She let loose a single sigh of relief before letting all of her other memories once again take over. She took a few minutes to once again grieve for her lost pups. When her thoughts had cleared she arose & shook the morning dew from her coat. Her focus then went to Emma, back at the base of the mountain. She was too young to already have lost a pup, & she understood why the younger she-wolf had chosen to stay & grieve a while longer.
Knowing what she had to do she found her new Alphas nestled together atop that great rock. She explained Emma's situation & asked if she could extend an invitation for the other she-wolf to give the pack a try when she was ready. Both Alphas simply nodded, & White Sky left to find her friend. She followed her old tracks & sent back to that clearing at the base of the mountain & with it Emma. She told her of the new pack being established, & that the gladly welcomed any wolf no matter their background. Emma glanced at the sky before letting out a heartbroken sigh & turned to look at White Sky once again. She did as White Sky expected & asked for more time. She gave her a sympathetic smile & said of course. Before heading back to the new territory both she-wolves went on one last hunting trip & managed to take down a deer that had wandered from the trees. White Sky left Emma with the meal & once again followed the river down to the place with the great rock, endless willows, & the mystic Moon Pool.
Two weeks passed without word from Emma. White Sky never worried though because she sensed the little she-wolf could handle herself just fine. Although, when Emma finally did appear on the Singers' territory she was more than a little happy. Though not necessary Emma plead her case to the Alphas. Harmony accepted her, Chance welcomed the bold little she-wolf, & White Sky glowed with pride when Emma took her first drink from the Moon Pool & she too starte
Breeding Info N/A
| Personality Bold & assertive, yet friendly. White Sky enters an area & her presence gives off nothing but someone to listen to. A natural born leader White Sky is the very wise, & often humorous, wolf everyone listens to, though she has never had any desire to be an official leader. When she first joined the Singers, being the only non Alpha at the time, she was made Betta by default but was more than happy give the position to Harmony when Rozelynne came along.
Many wolves are put on edge when they first meet her simply because of that energy & also because she has the voice to match. Oddly enough she is a fairly large she-wolf, & also has a deep rough monotone that can be taken as aggressive until your used to it. She doesn't let it hinder her though. If she sees someones' hackles rise when she starts to speak, her favorite phrase is "Shake the ice out of your coat! For Moon's sake haven't you heard a beautiful voice before?" Depending on her mood this is either said with a playful glint in her eye or an irritated one.
Her joke isn't too far off though. When she howls it is truly wondrous. Those same rough tones that make so many uncomfortable when she speaks also echo a song through the territory & beyond that will ring in your very soul for the rest of your days. That rough monotone gives way to a deep haunted melody that needs no words, just ears to listen. None of the pack has ever heard another voice like it, & it is rumored that even neighboring packs will sneak around the edges of the Singers' territory in hopes of hearing this hauntingly beautiful ghost voice that reaches your very core.
Preferences Skye is a very social & adaptable wolf, but she will admit 4-5 things that make the top of her list.
Emma: while she gets along with pretty much everyone, including grouchy old Harmony, Emma has always been special to her. She will fondly joke they were probably sisters, or maybe even mother/daughter, in another life. Past life or not she really does think of Emma as a daughter. She met her as a grieving youngster that had nearly given up on life & has watched her grow into an amazing senior pack member full of pride & hope. Skye has never been anything but proud of her younger friend.
Pups: whether it natural or because she has lost some of her own White Sky never gets tired of watching new pups playing & learn their skills. No matter the parent/s she is always happy to lend helpful paws to other wolves & their youngsters.
Anything birds: although neither is sure why, this is something White Sky & Emma have always had in common. Particularly fond of bird watching both stopped on their way down the mountain to observe some Mountain Jays that had nested in a tree directly in the middle of the paths the two she-wolves were taking. Both will still happily sit down together & watch birds nest or frolick from branch to branch. When it comes to meals White Sky is particularly fond of Pheasant. She does feel a bit guilty about that but also loves birds to the point that her den is lined with a vast collection of feathers (mostly from Pheasant hunts). The only hard part is that on occasion certain unnamed parties misuse parts of her collection as pup toys!
Singing: some wolves might feel ashamed of a voice like hers, but at the end of the day she knows that true friends don't care what she sounds like & good riddance to the rest! Plus she may sound odd when speaking, but she couldn't be happier with her "Ghost Melody", & the elation of singing is something she could never
Special Skills For the most part the Singers prefer to keep their special abilities to themselves. White Sky is no different, but that mischievous twinkle is there in her blue blue eyes should you happen to ask. It's such a teasingly knowing look its makes you wonder about that voice of hers. The Haunted Melody is VERY unique & special it its own right, but could there be even more to it?
