Biography A kind tongue rasped the fur on the small pup’s head, eliciting a squeak of protest. A frail she-wolf lay curled around the small figure, her only surviving pup in a litter of four. The sickness had tainted her milk and taken the lives of the other three, yet this one remained. “My little Atlas,” She purred, wrapping herself even tighter around the squirmy pup as lazy snowflakes began to drift from the sky. “You must carry the weight of this cruel world on your shoulders, you must bear this burden but never alone.”
The cold of the night set the stage for plague to take AtlasÂ’s mother away.
A rogue whom had known nothing but self preservation took pity on the pathetic pup who cried over the still figure of his mother, cast out of her pack when her sickness threatened the rest of their lives. This rogue who had known nothing but animosity from pack wolves took pity on the little ball of fur, also left to die by his kin. Ever so gently, the rogue grasped the scruff of the little wolf in his jaws, prying him away from his mother. He made a mental note to come back and bury her in the spring.
With great effort, Atlas grew. In his early years he knew nothing but carefree joy in his pack of two, the rogue and him. The rogue taught him everything he knew, from fishing and stalking, to where bears would leave their scraps of bone to be gnawed upon. With great pride he watched as his adopted son grew from a pathetic pup to a strong and capable young wolf, growing nearly a full head taller than himself.
The summer storms of AtlasÂ’s third year brought torrential rain, and with that floods. Spray splashed his face as the river broke its banks, taking away the rogue in a fury of white foam.
Once again, Atlas was all alone.
Grief ripped at his heart and he grew careless, wandering into pack territory to purposefully incite trouble. Anguish poured from his heart, with nothing but anger to stem the flow. He wanted to punish all pack wolves for abandoning his mother and rejecting the rogue who had raised him. He sought revenge.
The first pack wolf he encountered did not try to fight him, merely questioning his whereabouts. This puzzled Atlas.
