Biography "Run!" A wolf barked as the den site was swallowed up by fire. The trees around Bearpup were engulfed in flames. She ran scared in a random direction, hoping someone was behind her. She finally stopped out of breath and turned around to find dead silence. Bearpup could no longer see the fire, but could also no longer see her pack.
"Mother!" She exclaimed racing towards the familiar she-wolf. "Bearpup!" Her mother cried out. Bearpup licked her mother playfully but all of a sudden stopped. She looked at her mother's back legs and they laid awkwardly out behind her. "What's wrong with your hind legs?" She asked. "I'm afraid a tree had fallen on them.. I can't walk but only drag myself. The pack left me for dead because I wouldn't be able to hunt and fight." Bearpup gasped, "I can take care of you mother! I can hunt!" Her mother sighed, "You are just a pup dear, but if you think you can, I'm not going to stop you."
"Fresh rabbit coming right up!" Bearpup trotted up to her mother, plopping it down at her paws. It had been a little over a year since the fire and they were thriving well. "Good job Bearpup! It looks delicious." Her mother said, "But before I eat, I think you should have your apprentice ceremony."
The night stars glimmered as Bearpaw watched her ailing mother in sadness. Each rasping breath her mother took, it seemed like she was getting worse. She licked her mother mournfully. "Bearpaw," She sputtered, "You shall now be known as Bearclaw. You have shown great loyalty and toughness. You must now go find a new pack. But remember, I'll always be in the stars, watching... you." She coughed and took in a breath and exhaled. But she didn't take another breath.
