my family has a history of strokes. my uncle had one in February, he’s okay, but he can’t stay awake for long because it affected the area of the brain that deals with consciousness |

I mean they can make you pay your debts, however, you can bankruptcy out of that, and not really lose anything. |

Apo I too have family history of people with heart attacks. My grandma has suffered from 5 in her whole lifetime and we are very lucky to still have her. I wish your family the best, as they are very dangerous |

In the US they technically can't "make" you pay hospital bills, medical bills dont really affect anything far as credit |

As someone who has been around people that have had multiple heart attacks.. i would go to the ER… |

Speaking on experience, as people in my family have a history of heart attacks, my dad having one just last year. |

@Kitten I agree with @Yakuza. Most of the time, you will be treated regardless of you financial situation and there are ways to lower your bill/make payments. There's also the option, which some people end up having no choice but to do, which is just let the debt sit there until it falls off after so many years. I've got a decent amount of medical debt myself so I understand. |

Heart attacks aren't self treatable, I find it hard to believe you're not in the hospital. |

Yakuza I have the inkling suspicion that my family (who lives an hour and a half away) are planning on making me move back down to live with them. I have so many medical issues, they were against me moving so far away to begin with because of my medical problems, but the place I'm in was the cheapest I could find. |

Casually been listening to a ai reddit story for over an hour none of these facts add up but this is juicy :') |

Medical bills in the US are rough but if you seriously think you had a heart attack you should go to the ER anyway - there may still be complications/you could still be at risk |

Apoth Oh, no, I didn't treat it! My roommate called the medics and they diagnosed it as such! They offered to take me for monitoring, but I'm poor so I said no. I would rather stay home and risk another attack than get a billion dollar bill. |
