I've been learning Japanese on Duolingo, hoping to visit the country in a few years and I want to be at least converstional level by then. I can recognize maybe a handful of French words, being Canadian, but I can't really speak it.

I know only bits and pieces of a few languages, but I can make it through a short conversation in Spanish and I can tell you IN German that I can't speak German :P I know a few pet names and terms of endearment in Gaelic though, that's my jam. Usually I call my girlfriend mo stór.
