A place for WPers to share all their favorite recipes! Let us know how it tastes.

I'll go first, my favorite thing to make is the scrumptious pizza grilled cheese sandwich. This is pizza, but in grilled cheese sandwich form. You need garlic butter, cheese, toppings (optional, I make pepperoni for my mom and I, plain cheese for my dad), tomato sauce, and preferably thick bread, but your regular bread loaf works too (it's what I normally use and how I learned).

Notes:

- This is a stove-made food.

- Don't forget your regular butter or non-stick spray.

- Don't be like me and turn the stove on High for the first few minutes, then shut it off. That undercooks the insides and overcooks the bread. You want to take your time with this.

Estimated Time: 15-45 minutes

Instructions:

1. Add regular butter to the pan to prevent things from sticking.

2. Let the pan heat up, then spread garlic butter over one side of the bread before setting it facedown onto the pan.

3. You can either wait and take the bread out once it's light brown or follow this step now while it's still in the pan. I personally do it in the pan, then take it out for the second slice. Spread some sauce on the facing-up side of your bread.

4. Add your toppings and cheese. I add a few pieces of pepperoni first, then lots of cheese, then a singular piece of pepperoni on the top.

5. Once cheese has melted slightly (make sure bread isn't burnt), remove the slice of bread from the pan and repeat for the other slice of bread.

6. Carefully, empathise on carefully, put the two pieces of bread together like a sandwich.

7. Place the sandwich back onto the pan and let it heat up until the cheese appears to have melted and/or the bread has turned darker brown. Remove sandwich from the pan. You have created a yummy pizza grilled cheese sandwich.

This is a South African Lasagne. Might add Chilli to make it spicy as well.
When I make it, my brother says it's better than the restaurant.

Beef Mince Filling

  • 1 1/3lb
    beef mince
  • 1 1/3piece
    onion, finely chopped
  • 1 1/3sprig
    thyme
  • 1 1/3tbsp
    ginger and garlic paste
  • 1 1/3tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 1/3tsp
    onion powder
  • 1 1/3tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 1/3tsp
    salt
  • 2 2/3piece
    tomato, grated
  • 1 1/3can
    tomato puree
  • 2/3tsp
    sugar (optional)

White Sauce

  • 2 2/3
    stick butter, melted
  • 2 2/3tbsp
    flour
  • 3 1/3cup
    milk
  • 1 1/3tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 1/3tsp
    onion powder
  • 1 1/3tsp
    salt
  • 1 1/3tsp
    black pepper

Assembly

  • 1 1/3
    package lasagna sheets
  • 2 2/3cup
    grated cheese
Method:

Beef Mince Filling

  1. In a frying pan, heat oil.

  2. Add onions, thyme, ginger, and garlic paste. Allow to simmer for 3 minutes.

  3. Add mince and cook for 10 minutes, turning every 5 minutes. Allowing water to dry.

  4. Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt to taste. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes.

  5. Add grated tomatoes and canned tomato puree. If too sour, add sugar.

  6. Cook for 15 minutes on low heat. Set aside to cool down.

White Sauce

  1. In a heated pan, add butter and allow to melt.

  2. Add flour and stir with a hand whisk to prevent sticking and lumps.

  3. Add milk and stir continuously until desired texture is achieved.

  4. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.

Assembly

  1. In an oven tray, place lasagna sheets followed by cooked mince and white sauce. Repeat the procedure 2 more times.

  2. Place in a preheated oven at 180°C and bake for 15 minutes.

  3. Remove from oven, top with grated cheese, and bake for a further 10 minutes.
