Maybe eventually she would be. We got a lot going on right now and need everything to settle first. What with expecting 8 puppies, some quail, some guinea fowl, and some turkeys all very soon. Once we get all those settled in then we have to worry about setting up horse stables and padlocks to get horses and there's just a bunch we gotta do to get this homestead up and running before we can add pets.

I feel like there’s levels to owning parrots and despite their size, quakers are definitely high level birds. Their body language is all over the place and they’re very particular with people too. They’re so playful though, but I’ve rarely met one that wasn’t traumatized or had behavioral issues due to trauma or mistreatment from the pet store or breeder. I almost bought one before I decided on cockatiels, I’m in love with my tiels if it isn’t obvious haha

Quaker parrots need a lot of stimulation and parrots in a pair are very hard to bond in my experience. I had a Quaker bite my cheek in front of a customer one day, not for any reason, just because she was being cheeky. Honestly if your mom is open to it, she may enjoy owning cockatiels more than quakers. Quakers and conures are very territorial, bitey and high energy. They’re lovely when properly trained, but theyre like malinois. Tiels are so sweet and rarely ever bite unless they are super scared. The males love to sing and they’re very personal/snuggle buddies

They are mean no matter what. She used to have one named duke. He was so sweet. Then my brother let him outside when his wings weren't cut and he wasn't trained yet so he flew away and my mom got a male and female bonded pair. Even my mom is having trouble bonding with them and they bite her.

Also make sure you never react to a parrots bite, they are like children and react to any sort of attention. If biting gets reactions then they will do it more, even if it isn’t out of aggression. If they bite you when holding them then they need to go to their perch or cage for a timeout. All parrot breeds bite for different reasons though so that’s something to consider

Some birds are very cage aggressive and also little butts during bed time. I own cockatiels, pigeons, parakeets and finches and all of them are so sour when it’s time to go up for bed. The tiels aren’t as bitey, but the sass cuts into the heart

That first one is so cool and winter-y, the way you did the orange eyes! Like embers glowing against the snow!
The second one--man that angle! Those deep red and black hues! The delicate facial markings are fantastic!
The last one has amazing shapes as always! The fur rendering--the rendering on all of these--is amazing Tenes! :D
You're on a roll bro, keep it up! :D (But remember to stretch your wrist and stuff lol, gotta make sure you don't dig yourself a fishy tunnel. XD)

well, thank you!
you must try them. they're so fun. and honestly, i'm still semi-motivated. so i'll probably do a few more pieces before calling it quits for a hot second :))

oh yeah definitely! love doodling.
I gotta try out those trees one day :0
hey but your motivation at least lasted longer this time- maybe it'll improve with time :)

thank you!! i do love the first and last one. the second was fun, but i had SUCH difficulty drawing it. everything was so dark, so i hope(?) that you can still see it despite the colours being damn near black. and i'm glad that you noticed the fur rendering! i'm quite proud of them overall :D

I'm unoriginal and go on pintrest and just doodle animals or flowers. But I keep them fairly rough so it doesn't feel like I need to try. Very helping tbh, I recommend

Oh dang I love the chocolate palette here. The way the gold of the eye pops out against the dark of the face is lovely, too. :0 <3
And the red-blue contrast in that second one, with that mane of fur! So good. :3

Loving how the colors of the background work with the character though! We've got a color opposite and a color complement, and although the background may just be a couple colors it still works with the piece really nicely. Amazing! :0
