I'm the same way lol, learning about people's unique art processes is really cool because you see some BATSHIT insane things XDD I really like clean refined lines it gives, but the 2px brush only works on super refined sketches and zoomed out scene art (like you can see on the dragon meadow comm on pg 20-21) so it takes a long time, and i prefer not to spend too much time on smaller comms i like big round brushes for portraits/closeups and when the sketch is more fluid, preserves the flow more and you can carve out the lines, so you don't have to go over multiple times to get nice lineweight Also thank you so much!! The Placebo animation is still one of my favorite animations i worked on, the design was surprisingly easy to breakdown to animate XDDD my response is a bit long lmoa, sorry

But you're SO right about some processes being Unhinged LMAO. I was really suurprised you work with like, two whole separat sketches??? I haven't don that in AAAGES LOL (though I just kinda raw dog shit now oops). Your dragon meadow piece is SO GORGEOUUS I literally just went through every page in youur gallery lmao That makes sense! I love a good round brush, but I use very limited default brushes myself and :agony: It's kinda hellish, but I make it work lmao. How many brushes do you use on averrage in a piece? Or is it just one or two for the whole time? (Apart from your sketches!)
You are so welcome! Thank youu again for SPOILING me with it! (Also so sorryabouut double letters my keybooard is kinda fucked LMAOO)

You are so welcome! Thank youu again for SPOILING me with it! (Also so sorryabouut double letters my keybooard is kinda fucked LMAOO) I see lol, all good Yeah i find it easier to first quickly block out the composition and rough proportions of bodyparts before cleaning it up, and it also serves as a sort of warmup for getting into the drawing (if you heard that trick some artists do of "warm up" excercises before getting into the drawing?)
hmm, lets see. for basics, I ALWAYS use a round watercolor brush(sketching, lineart most of the time, even if it's the 2px kind i'll use that instead of the pen, & to color), a taper/force fade pen (for fur) Airbrush, Blur/Smudge tool, basic Hard Pen brush for cellshading if i do it
around 4-7 brushes for a simple piece (i'll have some specials for effects), and 8-9 for a big one if there's something that needs a specific-pattern/duplicate thingie For the dragon piece, i have a PineForest (that i made from a custom pinebranch brush XD) a couple different Grass Brushes, an a Sharp Leaf and Round Leaf brush i used for the flowers Also needed to make a cust for the buterflys, i took some butterfly silouettes and drew patterns and them And the red/cross doberman piece i made a barbed wire brush and just used it over an edge brush to get the look right
I'm always making custom brushes for things because it's some and honestly i use them ALOT, it makes things easier lmoa This is alot of brush talk, i'm sorry but you've opened a pandora's box with asking me about brushes XDD Edited at January 28, 2026 05:37 PM by Krampus

Since Draconis Theory was announced to be shutting down i got really interested in how these types of games get made/what it would take to make a game like that? so i started a neocities project and used my existing adopt doberman lineart and colors, i'm using Wolfplay's design as a base. I started it on Feb3rd, now we're at this point. the last few days i've been trying to fix a bug where the dog would render it's image on it's profile page, but was every where else, and it's been lowkey making me insane. I'm an EXTREAMLY amatuer/shitty coder so i'm using alot of help from coding chatbots, tutorials/threads. i'm going to put this game in a diff neocities folder so this link wont be affected (namely, break from bugs) by updates/features when i add them :)) Let me know if you play it! there are only four pages/features as of current; Capture, Den Page, Breeding, and Sell/Name the dog. Current Bugs: Breeding button in dog's profile doesnt work, and marking 3's image doesnt render on the dog profile, but will likely show in Den/Capture (i think it's a file name mismatch but i'm not going to fix it for now.)
