Hello hello! I'm a new artist, and I'm mainly posting this to get criticism/help with my designs/coloring! I started my lines by tracing real life animals, and I've improved a bit. However, still struggling with better lineart (floating wolves, sitting, looking other directions, snarling, muscles, etc.) I'm also struggling bunches with coloring and making the shading look nice, so any app/tool suggestions will also be greatly appreciated! - Not that my art will be good at all currently, DO NOT steal any of my pieces. To prevent this from happening, I plan on adding watermarks on the art pieces that isn't erasable without erasing the art itself. - As time goes on, I hope to improve and finally be able to actually sell better art with lineart of my own, and hopefully start doing auctions as well. I've been trying for at least a year or two, and I'm not pulling in much business. Which I suspect is happening due to the lines not being my own and the shading. - Sit down and relax, enjoy the show! If you decide too, thank you so much! A piece of line art I've done. Tried to make the wolf stand up, but I struggled most with the facial features, legs, and tail. May try to color this piece later on, haven't decided if I just want to keep it as is or not! Edited at November 2, 2025 07:34 PM by Mistveria

i'd love to see the skeleton for this- it looks pretty good, in my opinion, but how are you blocking out the forms and connecting the limbs? especially the joint of the neck and the head, and that closer foreleg- they look a bit rough

When I first get into it, I add shapes before doing the lining and such. I first drew the rectangular shape for the torso and neck, and then I with the legs I tried to figure it out with the rectangle, then went to circles, and did it with circles instead if that makes sense? I also had some people from a game called Lioden on a discord server walk me threw, such as I showed them the image, they pointed out mistakes and I went in and fixed it all as best as I could!

Ah.. gotcha gotcha! I'm still learning and it's a huge work in progress, I actually gave myself a headache while working on that piece.. I'll definitely keep that in mind! I'll try that technique, and then show the results here when I get it finished. I'm currently working on a horse that's rearing in which I'm going to show on Horse Eden, it's my first ever attempt and it's looking a bit wild currently.. I hope so, and yeah.. I've been focusing on realism instead of animated because the people on discord said after you get realism down, it's easier to do animated. So hopefully soon I'll have some animated versions up! Oh yeah, they really are.. especially their muscles, how does people do it..? Ah, good luck! I'm sure they will look good, if you have an art gallery I'll definitely be checking it out and keeping an eye out for it if you post them on here! Thank you so much!

i think they might be a tad mixed up? perhaps by realism they mean the fundamentals, which are, typically, realism. however, if you learn the fundamentals, you'll be able to do anything with them, and push and pull them as you please. i have no idea 😔 lots and lots of reference? i do have a gallery! it's linked on my profile ^^ i won't be posting them here as they aren't for WP but there are some other horses in there you're welcome!
