I like the territorial idea. Same with the potentially limited/no hearing. If it does have hearing, I imagine it being similar to bird or lizard ears. But like Spell said, if we choose not to have hearing, its smell and touch would be better. Another idea we can do is have its eyes be sensitive to light. That's why it predominately hunts at night and is most active then.

Apologies if this has been mentioned somewhere, but how big is this creature? How many dogs would it take to attack/kill it? Or is attacking it out of the question because it's so powerful? And what makes it powerful. I mean, is it huge? Does it have bigger teeth and a more powerful bite? Maybe disease?

Also, adding onto what queen said, I like the idea that if the creature attacks someone, even a scratch, it can impact them. I wouldn't say that the character attacked can turn into the creature, but maybe it can cause a sickly disease, similar to that of rabies? It slowly kills the individual. Maybe makes them go through phases/symptoms (aggression, paranoia, hallucinations, etc) before killing them?

When an animal gets severe pink eye that goes untreated for too long, they get super sensitive to light, if not go altogether blind. The light thing could be something like that -- an adverse reaction or symptom from its eyes' exposure to a pathogen of some kind. Could be radioactive materials, liquid or solid gas, a frickin cactus (cough cough, my puppy)...

Ok, so far I can see maybe two rival gangs of dogs? But maybe they need to find a way eventually through the RP to help each other out with the whole monster mess? Of course there can also be a couple lone strays, too.

Yes. The creature can be mostly active and hunt at night. There can be multiple, but they are solitary animals. And maybe there is only one in the region so far. I like the idea of it being black and have red(glowing?) eyes. And yes, earning a bleeding wound from this animal(pierces skin) should probably result in a nasty infection of some sort. Maybe it can have several tactics of luring prey. Personally, I can just see it being a stealthy/stalker creature. Lurking before it snaps. And extremely fast/strong. I can imagine it being the size of... like a small horse? Very sharp fangs and claws. Mostly black, as Ciao said. And maybe it leaves tracks of like, black gooey stuff sometimes.

It's weaknesses? Light can annoy it. I like the idea of it having poor eyesight, but good smell and touch. Maybe worse hearing as well.

I think two rival gangs would work. Maybe the monster infiltrates somehow which causes the two rivals to come together? Oh, or maybe it mutates and becomes stronger? They need to gang together then if they want to survive. Eh, something like that. We also need a name for the monster. Unless we just call it the "creature" or something along those lines.

I like the idea of its appearance. What if it can mimic sounds, kind of adding onto what queen said? I can kind of picture it being able to do that. Like, it can mimic the screams or voice of a loved one, causing a character to sprint to help, only to realize that their loved one isn't in trouble. Before this character can run, bam, the monster gets it. That's one way how it can lure in individuals.

It reminds me of a mole in a sense. Bad eyesight. Good smell and touch. I feel like it would have a good sense of direction as well. For weaknesses, light should for sure be one. Even fire. Hmm.. maybe water? Because it gets disoriented? It relies on land to move around, but it can swim, simply doesn't swim unless has to? It dislikes the water? Maybe rain causes it to hide away as well because of that?

I can see that being how the RP starts. One gang is infiltrated. Or maybe both are within the same night. Imp mentioned calling it the Chimera.

I think it would be cool for it to mimic sounds. But maybe only sounds and voices it becomes familiar with? So if you or any of your acquaintances have never been near it, then it can only use force. Until you or others speak around it enough for it to learn? I kinda like that aspect.

I think it can have terrible swimming ability. So it avoids deep water at all costs. And rain can annoy it.

Does someone wanna sketch it out? I think some things mentioned were:
-size of small horse
-large and powerful
-black, red eyes
-No ears?
-Long snout/head
-Maybe other things.. refer to Ciao's creative post :)

Additionally, we should prob flesh out the two gangs a bit more, characters, and get a rough idea of the territories they control. And maybe mark a secret lair of the creature?

For the two gangs, I can see a rough structure of Leader, Second In Command, Members.. Maybe Omega? Both gangs don't need to be the same, either. Love to hear ideas.

As for characters, I feel like we all know our limits, so make however many you'd like. We can also use NPCs if need be(but I don't see that being the case as of now).

As for the territories, lemme see if I can find some kind of map or sketch something..

Are we thinking the gangs are in the post apocalyptic/dystopian city? Or like outside of that? I might have missed something...

I think it would actually be cool to incorporate the post apocalyptic with the dystopian elements. I think there could be things happening in the city that the dogs have to avoid or keep an eye out for in terms of their survival. Maybe this creature (because it sounds like it's going to be small) is something the government of the city has either created themselves or something they just don't want to deal with because of the current state of things. So that becomes the main threat along with other things probably.

just some thoughts...let me know if missed something with all of that. I like where this RP is going though : )

I apologize for my lack of contributions. Though from what I see, you guys are doing a really good job with the stuff in general.

I'd offer to try and draw the creature, but unless we want a scribble or badly-done drawing, I think I would be better off not doing that.

As a suggestion for a rank, maybe one of the gangs have a thing for something like a scout? For the smaller, quicker, dogs for the most part. But there could be a few medium sized to large dogs that are particularly suited for the role.

That'd be a neat concept. Certain roles can be based on physical abilities. So like, boss, right hand, left hand (vague names for, say, "beta or delta") squatter (scout or some sort of sentry) and some other ones for more vague characters. "Members" can work for that I suppose. Maybe "disciple" can be used for trainees. There could also be a "Bait" role for the lesser or any "omegas" should they be included.

For the territories, if it's in an apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic setting, with the humans being gone I could see overgrown or fallen buildings. Perhaps if it was more recent there are still smoldering fires randomly around the city and the grass and weeds are beginning to grow out of control. In some parts of the city, the amount of smoke could be thicker, keeping both of these gangs away from these areas. I could see our monster hiding there if the dogs don't want to go near the area.

Maybe this city surrounds a large park or is next to the woods, so one group could have their territory be more in the city, while the other is more of a sheltered wooded area.

I do like the idea of having a scout from each gang.
