Whew im not sure I have good advice either, I get very heated too and it usually involves me scream cussing at whatever or whoever, so what I do to try my best to avoid that is screaming as hard and delebrite as you can into a pillow, drawing while listening to music

that has potential for why my boy's trying to learn an instrument though- cause he cannot write creatively- adding in musically

(as in, not forefront instrumentals, but like ideas for background harmonies etc)

It's up for your creative interpretation. They don't perform on the stage and they don't write the songs but they can give input on lyrics if the lead singer chooses to hear them out. (among their other duties of course)
