I brainstormed a few ideas for our characters! if you like any let me know.

💛 Mikko & Mila – Gentle Trust / Quiet Pack Bond

  • Sunbeam Sharing (friends): Mikko finds Mila curled up in a quiet spot and, instead of walking away, settles nearby. Not talking, just coexisting. Eventually, Mila starts bringing her rabbit closer to him, a silent show of trust.

  • Pack Instincts (friends): Mikko, drawn to close physical comfort, might instinctively try to include Mila in “pack” behavior—soft nudges, shared snacks, sitting shoulder-to-shoulder in warm corners. Mila doesn’t understand it at first, but gradually leans into the safety of it.

  • Unspoken Loyalty (friends): If someone raises their voice at Mila or causes her visible distress, Mikko’s reaction is swift and protective. No words—just a low, warning growl and a stare that shuts the threat down instantly.

  • Conflict in Perspective (dislike or enemy): Mila doesn’t mind the facility. Mikko tolerates it. But if she ever voices too much affection for it, it could cause tension—him gently trying to explain what freedom means, her retreating from the unfamiliar thought.

🧡 Mikko & Misha – Tension, Banter & Alpha Games

  • Clashing Energy (enemies): Misha’s loud, performative chaos instantly gets under Mikko’s skin. Mikko finds him exhausting. Misha thinks Mikko’s too serious. Cue sparring matches of sarcasm and icy stares vs. glitter-bomb pranks.

  • Mutual Respect in Crisis (no real affiliation but story idea to partner in with the other ideas): When things go wrong—say, a breach or a punishment—these two instantly switch from teasing to flawless coordination. Mikko’s precision + Misha’s unpredictability = powerhouse pair.

  • "You're Too Much" (enemies): Mikko doesn’t say it, but Misha knows Mikko watches him closely—keeps tabs. And while Mikko acts indifferent, his body language shifts protectively whenever guards corner Misha too roughly.

Null is also open for all relationships! (Though romance might be more difficult for her loll). If anyone introduces her to a new hobby, she would probably have an eye-opening existential crisis and completely revert her perspective on life.
(For those of you who are wondering what Null might need to establish a relationship of any kind: if a character fills up even some of the emptiness in her, maybe giving her a purpose or just a basic sense of emotions and time, she would probably acknowledge them and maybe lean positively towards them. Null has literally all the room possible for character development LOL)
So far, here's how I think Null would work with each character:
  • Mila might be a good fit. She could act as a gentle introduction into regular social interactions for Null, especially given that Null is completely wrapped up in her own loneliness and doesn't acknowledge the uncaring researchers.
  • Finn would... probably either scare her away forever or end up being a really good match lol simply because of how expressive he is compared to Null. He would kind of remind her that emotions do, in fact, exist (lmao)
  • Aeris would probably have a neutral relationship with Null, the "oh, I've seen her in the hallway before and stared at her from afar but never actually met her" type. Null doesn't have any qualities that would calm down Aeris' anxiety, other than the fact that she simply wouldn't initiate anything. Not quite safe, but not really a danger, either.
  • Isla is pretty feisty and territorial, and as a result, Null might not be of any importance to her, simply because she takes up her own space and nothing else. Unless, of course, one of them were to extend beyond their established boundaries - which could result in an extreme response from either side (Isla might view her as a competitor, and Null could have any variety of responses to entering unknown territory).
  • Misha might not know what to do with Null, not because it's difficult to 'read' her, but because there's almost nothing to read. Null would do her best to ignore his presence and might be mildly annoyed at his antics or - maybe (unlikely) - take a liking to them.
  • Rowan's twisted personality might actually be the first thing to genuinely scare Null. She can handle loudness, volume, and whatnot - but she knows perfectly well that a suffering soul hiding in the shadows will bring nothing good to her. (There is, also, of course, the fact that he's a Rejected subject, and Null might observe the ways the researchers handle him). Should she greatly expand her empathy and kindness, however, the two might be able to establish some sort of positive relationship.
  • Daeva's optimistic nature would be a dramatic change for Null compared to her complete acceptance of nihilism. Daeva herself is somewhat of a beacon in the sense that she represents a future Null can't see... yet. Curiosity and empathy are both concepts that Null is unfamiliar with, and yet here is a girl, running around, embodying both of them. Null would likely respond with a great amount of confusion, and - depending on how Daeva appeals to her - might react by sinking back into her meaninglessness, or peeking into a world she has long since secluded herself from.
  • Vern is both similar and very, VERY different from Null. Vern lives for shiny objects hehehehehe but carries an otherwise empty head, while Null... is just empty. Meeting Vern would be a massive emotional whiplash for her given that she would discover purpose (albeit a very simple and straightforward one) for the first time.
  • Zephyr would both overwhelm Null and calm her at the same time. His unpredictability and very much not empty personality would be completely new to Null, but his preference for communicating without speaking might help Null to try to see if she might be able to understand the rest of him.
  • Cryptid would, upon immediate assumption, go on Null's list of "people I'd like to stay FAR, far away from". Should she develop a greater sense of curiosity, however... she may or may not look closer to see what he truly is. For now, though, she's prefer to sink back into her little void corner and forget he ever existed while she indulges in life's lack of meaning.
  • Mikko would be unpredictable in Null's eyes. According to others, she usually sits in the "gray area" of relationships, but his complete lack of that safe neutral zone might send her into an unfamiliar confusion as she tries to figure out how she's supposed to handle someone who's determined to place her in one bracket or another.
  • Enzo's brotherlike personality might give Null her first taste of familial understanding... or his tendency to sheath his emotions might scare her away. His simmering rivalry with others might actually appeal to whatever sense of curiosity she has, and she could get to know him better through her own observation and interactions.
Did I get everyone? Please let me know if I didn't, I might have missed a few along the way TwT

My Character Criptid is up for friendships and more, sorry for the lowsy post, I'm just tired but wanted you guys to know!

I've been thinking a bit about how our characters might interact and honestly? There's so much interesting potential between Cryptid and my two hybrids, Mila (09) and Misha. Here's a few ideas that might spark some plot or connection lmk if you like either of the ideas!

🐾 Mila (09) & Cryptid (Koda)

This one would be slow burn friendship energy—with a strong “beauty and the beast” type emotional dynamic. Mila is small, quiet, and gentle, while Cryptid’s unstable temperament and intimidating appearance would terrify her at first. But here's the twist:

  • Mila doesn't judge by looks—she's been stared at like an object her whole life, so even if she’s afraid of Cryptid, she wouldn’t treat him cruelly or talk down to him. She might watch him from afar, curiosity barely outweighing her fear.

  • Over time, Mila’s undeveloped empathic sensitivity might allow her to feel the sadness or pain under Cryptid’s rage. Maybe she starts leaving him quiet offerings—like a fixed-up glove if she notices him gnawing too much, or a button she found because she thinks it looks like an eye.

  • Could evolve into a quiet bond: Cryptid might find Mila strangely calming, even if he doesn’t fully get her. She wouldn’t flinch from his temper—but she wouldn’t challenge it either. She’d just... exist, softly, like background music. And maybe he starts protecting her, in his own volatile, violent way.

Potential scene ideas:

  • Mila finds him mid-breakdown and doesn’t run—just quietly leaves her stuffed rabbit beside him.

  • Cryptid catches someone mocking her and reacts with way too much force... she’s confused and shaken, but also kind of moved.

  • They sit in silence sometimes. Mila sews. Cryptid chews metal. It's weirdly peaceful.

🪶 Misha & Cryptid (Koda)

Now this… chaos. Fire and gasoline. But also potential understanding. Misha is loud, expressive, theatrical—and that could either grate on Cryptid’s nerves or awaken something long-buried in him.

  • At first, Misha might treat Cryptid like a challenge: "Ooooh, tall, scary, broody guy? Bet I can make him laugh." Cue relentless teasing, dramatic compliments, and joking attempts to “tame the beast.”

  • But underneath that, Misha recognizes pain. He knows when someone’s lashing out because they’re scared or broken. I imagine him seeing right through Cryptid’s anger and saying things like, “You’re not scary. You’re just bleeding too loud.”

  • Maybe Cryptid doesn’t like him—at first. But he doesn’t hurt him either. He listens. Quietly. And when Misha’s manic mask cracks, maybe Koda’s the one to silently guard him through the storm, no words needed.

Possible tension/friendship arc:

  • Misha keeps pushing until Cryptid snaps—but instead of hurting him, he growls, “Why won’t you shut up?” and Misha, softly: “Because I don’t want you to be alone in your head.”

  • They wind up in a fight—but weirdly, both respect each other more afterward.

  • Misha leaves him scraps of wire and rubber to chew on after noticing his habits. “Not a love letter. Just don’t want you cracking a tooth, croc-boy.”

Cryptid is raw survival, Mila is soft endurance, and Misha is loud rebellion. All three are broken in wildly different ways—so what happens when those fractures meet? I think the mix could be really powerful. Whether it’s emotional healing, chaotic dynamics, or reluctant mutual respect, there’s so much potential here.

If you’re into it, I’d love to plan scenes or slowbuild their dynamics—whether Mila learns to sit near Cryptid, or Misha accidentally becomes his weirdest friend.

Let me know what vibes you’re feeling most drawn to!

—Lyra 💜

I like both of those, though I think I'm more drawn to the fire and gasoline vibe, I think it's what he may be missing, and I've already had a vision in my head where Misha's manic mask crack and, he just stands their silent but helpful? If you know what I mean, I also like the nickname croc-boy, I love that it is something that'll piss him off at first, but grow to like it.

I love this! I get the idea that he'll be like an older brother, but one with a lot of issues lol. So she follows him curiously and he tries to introduce her to knew things and help her develop her abilities. Sometimes he does get overwhelmed and lashes out, but he loves her like a sister and tries to make up for scaring her each time. I like the idea that she'd try to observe him especially during his short rivalry with Misha.

Mikko and Enzo could definitely either be best friends or rivals nothing in between
*Friends-
As they both enjoy their new abilities and find comfort in the Institute they become quick friends, training together and sparring for practice. They're both extremely loyal people so they trust eachother immensely and are down to do anything to protect one another.
*Rivals-
Both of them are Alpha subjects and enjoy training their abilities, but in a more competitive fashion. Each one is trying to over step the other and become the Institutes golden child. This could lead to multiple fights or arguments and a tense air around them.
