I still think it should be an item that grants an extra den slot! You might have to alter drop rates but it deserves to be an apple items, just like the breeding items dropped by hard to kill bosses. (Ex. Jasmines and event breeding items)

Maybe it could be used like camoflage,

Your explore wolves could cover themselves in it to increase stealth for about 30 steps in explore. Even with a potential stink, it could still help.

Or used a camoflage against enemy/prey groups, you can just go right past them, blending into your surroundings, but have the option to battle them for 20 steps in explore. So you could battle like usual, or sneak past an enemy or prey.
