And ring around the rosy? Ring around the Rosy, Pockets full of posy Ashes, ashes We all fall down
That one is talking about the plague. Rosy was one of the symptoms, and pockets full of posies of herbs helped keep you from getting it.

Yeah!! All of these nursery rhymes are messed up.
Like Humpty Dumpty?
Has anyone ever heard a line in the song that says he's an egg?
There is also a rhyme that goes like this:
Die pussy die Shut your little eye When you wake, have some cake Die pussy die Edited at May 30, 2019 12:07 PM by RoseKatt

Yep. People are messed up. Mary Mary quite contrary. Mary, Mary, quite contrary, How does your garden grow? With silver bells, and cockle shells, And pretty maids all in a row.
This one is said to refer to the Queen that was called Bloody Mary because she killed off all her heirs and that is why she is being asked how her garden is supposed to grow. I can't remember what the rest of the lines signify, but I know it is really dark

I watched a video on YouTube of a guy talking about Humpty Dumpty and Rock a Bye Baby.
He said "I feel like people who listened to these rhymes have a crippling fear of heights. Or at least falling asleep."
