WP had been a little heated about Mulan lol. The only reason I say the actors should be Chinese is because I know in the other movies, where the fairy tales have he majority white princesses, the likeliehood of a woman/man of another race will probably not be casted.
I mean shit, white people got SO mad when Disney said they were casting a black woman as Ariel when they said they were doing a live-action adaption. Literally the hastag was #NotMyAriel. Like shut the fuck up Karen, I bet you're homophobic too.
I dunno but personally, I think it has to do with cultural appropriation, especially when the tale was based off a Chinese legend. They took from another culture/race, so I feel they should be the one to represent it. I have never seen Aladdin and I do love Naomi Scott and I'm sure she did well, but in all honesty there probably should have been an arabic actress in her spot. She is of Indian descent though, so I do credit Disney on that.
And Aladdin has it's own set of issues, from the first one to it's live-action partner. I do love Aladdin, it's a fun movie to watch and is super entertaining, but both versions have several issues and it kind of sucks to find out about it, honestly.
I dunno, I probably will watch Mulan at some point, but yeah, I am definitely offended by this movie. Disney could have A. Reused the original plot or B. Gone truer to the legend. They disregarded both of those options and made a shitshow XD
