Why the heck do I need to credit art that is mine?

It's just the rules. Even if you made it, you still need credits. Thankfully, they aren't that hard to add ^^

If it's your avatar, you can add images on the avatar or in your notes/bio! If you're selling then it should be on the image. The credits don't need to be big, just legible
