Exactly dude! Not even on forest lvl 1 did squirrels exist when I got the "hunt 100 squirrels" quest and a majority of them were in Grendel battles >.>

Well and they're so difficult to achieve too!

Like they don't seem that hard in theory but the moment you get the stupid thing, suddenly all of the squirrels have gone extinct!
