Appearance

Laika seems to almost blend into herself, sporting a lovely golden tan complexion and thick, auburn hair. She keeps her hair long; it stretches down her back and ends nearly at the tops of her hips, Despite being a ginger, she does not burn much in the sun, and when she does, her skin darkens quickly rather than staying tomato-red. Her skin has yellower undertones, perhaps due to her desert dwelling side of the family as opposed to the predominantly northerner bloodlines.

Her face is what one would describe as pretty; her features are too strong to be "cute" and she doesn't put in enough effort to be labeled "hot". She wears hardly any makeup, ever, and doesn't know how to use most of it; luckily, she was blessed with porcelain smoothness and a natural beauty. Laika's eyes are a deep amber-red, so dark that they appear black unless the sun catches them. They are large and framed by thick, dark eyelashes. Her eyebrows are set relatively low on her face and tilt slightly down towards her nose, giving them a naturally furrowed or unamused look. Her nose is straight and perhaps a little longer than usual, but it's hardly noticeable. Her lips are neither full nor thin. She had a defined jaw and a face shape something between a diamond and a square.

Her body is long and lithe. She stands at 6' tall and is on the lighter end of the scale, but her limbs are so long that she's not much one for speed. Endurance and agility are no problem. She is not well-endowed in the boobs and butt departments; with minimal curves, hardly enough to be considered feminine, she was androgynous long into her teenage years. Now, it's a little more obvious, but there's nothing to flaunt -- not that she would show off even if she could.

Laika has Resting Bitch Face. She's not a mean individual, but her stature combined with the relaxed expression of murder do not make her look very approachable. Her voice is low for a woman's as well, and she can comfortably sing most tenor, alto, and soprano parts of songs. Singing is a very well kept secret of a talent of hers, though, and she hardly does it in front of anyone.

Laika is in no way, shape, or form a social butterfly. While she breezes through social interaction with well-formed thoughts and flattering words, she never instigates a conversation. Her preferred place is the sidelines, watching others' actions from a safe distance. She can go unnoticed if she desires, which she usually does, and will often overhear plenty of gossip or other semi-private conversations; however, these secrets and games of telephone die with her. Laika is not a blabber mouth, and she takes the privacy of others seriously. Need to talk about your feelings? She's a safe one to do so with, because nobody will ever hear what words were uttered.

Her aversion to social settings often places her around her favorite beings: animals. Laika was a horse girl from birth, and any mammal has her immediate affections, though some are obviously cuter than others. She would be content to spend her days sprawled over a mound of straw surrounded by livestock. Any animals that she herself is steward over are well looked after. Harming one is a death sentence. Laika does process her own animals, but she does not delight in the ordeal and is always sure to make it as quick as possible.

She's not one to lose her temper easily, nor does she irritate quickly. Laika's second favorite group of living things is children, and she has plenty of practice disciplining herself in regards to patience and longsuffering. If an adult is beginning to annoy her, she just pictures them as a child -- and occasionally treats them as such.

When she does finally run out of patience, Laika is a horrible sight to behold. Depending on who the recipient of her wrath is, she is either terse and plays the role of "least favorite parent" (more so for children who are acting up), or she is downright vicious (this is only with adults). Stinging remarks shut down displays of arrogance, an expression promising death crushes obnoxious outbursts, and a raised voice full of profanity shuts most everyone up. Laika does not swear unless she is absolutely furious.

Public displays of affection may be cute to others, but she finds them disgusting. Hand holding? Okay, mostly acceptable. But kissing, cuddling, and obvious sexual tension? Stop; you're going to make her barf. Laika is not a physical person unless she's fighting; she does not understand why anyone would want to have hands all over them out in public. That's just... indecent. Of course, she's not going to stride in between couples doing so, and she'll keep her judgments to herself. She would be absolutely mortified if someone did any of that to her in public, though.

Laika is the literal definition of tomboy personified. She loves to be outside, doesn't mind the mud and muck at all, and is not afraid of hard labor. Physical work is her meditation, gunpowder is the only kind of powder you'll find on her face, and the dirt is her playground. She likes the stereotypical "boy" activities -- hunting, sports, sparring, the like. Those, training animals, and talking about animal genetics are the conversation topics that she will eagerly get in to.

Loyalty is important to her in all aspects of life. She is loyal to her dragon, her friends, her animals,... Laika is not promiscuous, nor will she ever be; if she does take a mate, he will be the only one her eyes find. Her standards are high for herself in every way so as to prevent herself from letting anyone down. She's not interested in failing anywhere in life.

Laika is an incredibly sharp woman. Not just mentally, but with her words, too, at times. She is also fluent in sarcasm and likes to joke around. This woman is quite witty and sly with her words, but she is also childish enough to still find potty humor amusing. She's also devious and calculating. For better or for worse, she's good at figuring out what makes people tick - what their weaknesses are. Laika uses it to her advantage when she needs to, but she hardly finds herself needing to break someone. It's a rare occurrence.

Finally, she is an absolute rock when it comes to flirting. She may flirt unintentionally, and she's extremely good at telling those nuances when others are flirting with someone else, but when someone does it to her, it goes completely over her head. More often than not, she just things the person is weird and like that to everybody. Flirting is only obvious to her when it's painfully direct and to the point. Otherwise, she assumes it's a regular compliment or intoxicated behavior.

Skills

Meelee -- She is skilled with swords and knives, and she prefers to work with them in twos. Dual wielding is her specialty, and her weapon of choice is a dual broadsword. She packs an impressive punch as well, and she is trained in many different ground combat styles.

It's hard not to let your guard down around Vanessa for her appearance is quite alluring and elegant, making it hard to believe she does anything more than lounge pituresquely around her gardens all day. With soft pastel-coloured flowers adorning her long two-toned hair, and smooth bronze skin that seems entirely flawless, you'd have a difficult time connecting her appearance to her known personality in your psyche. That personality - sometimes wolfish and cold or else slightly detached and scruffy - is a heavy contrast to the golden expressions that warm Vanessa's cheerful face. If her seemingly sweet disposition does not attract you like a butterfly to sugar, then it will at the very least have you subconciously softening your own tone, or paying just a little less attention to the lithe muscles that build her athletic physique.

It's a easy arguement to call Vanessa a beautiful woman. Her features appear carved to perfection, symmetrical and quite sharp - especially her cheekbones, chin and jaw. This is of course an over-estimation of her polished appearance - she has plently of what you might consider inperfections. For starters if you look close enough, or she has been exposed to sunlight for too long, you begin to notice a scattering of freckles chaotically all across her tawny skin. Then, paying close attention to her dainty nose you can see faint pale scars which barely show across her nose-ridge and cheekbones - evidently many years old and well taken care of. Her skincare routine is quite long and elaborate, it's no wonder she has basically no blemishes. And, even if not for her well-maintained glossy skin and rose-round lips, then she has certainly won some kind of genetic lottery when it comes to her eyes: big and brown with some sunshine-yellow highlights to the iris, they only tie together the rest of her features pleasantly together.

It's really her hair which makes her such an attractive lady though. Reaching all the way down to her tailbone, it's incredible she's been able to keep it in such good condition given her supposedly scatterbrained nature. But her hair is her pride and joy, so perhaps it's not too big of a suprise that it is so well maintained. It curls softly in waves and slight ringlets at the end, a 2b wave pattern throughout. What is most gorgeous about it though is the colour. While from behind - when loose down her back - it seems only to be a black-brown in shade, the front reveals a swathe of red-orange (think a brighter burnt umber shade) hued hair all down the inside; she is named for spring butterflies and flowers after all. Two styled bangs swoop loosely to either side of her head like butterfly wings - both the same glossy dark brown as the rest of her hair. If she must keep it under strict control, she braids it neatly with a dark red ribbon to tie it, but she much prefers it cascading freely down her shoulders. It it her favourite feature about herself, naturally.

Though it is rarely noticible behing the long flowing garments Vanessa has a tendency towords, this woman possesses quite the spectacular set of muscles. Lithe enough to catch you off guard with her strength if she moves in for a hit, but strong enough to knock that very same opponent over (most of the time) she is a deceptive lady. That said, she values where she hits and how quickly over the strength of the hit so she isn't going to be besting those of a more heavyset build. Additionally, if it isn't noticible by now she prefers using her own body as her weapon - attacking with her fists against suitable opponents. (Of which there aren't going to be as many in this case - therefore long range.) Due to her tall and elegant height of 6'1'' she can appear quite light in weight although this isn't entirely accurate. She can put a bit of power into her punches, and so tries to maintain a toned and slender physique. Flexibility and fluidity in battle tend to be her forte, making her quite the enemy if you are unlucky enough to find yourself up against her.

But that is all hidden behind a veil of deception. If her appearance doesn't have you softening up, then her flowery perfumed scent might just do the trick. Vanessa has a very steriotypical feminine air about her that might leave you a little fuzzy-headed if you aren't used to it. She also has a soft melodic tone that would sound so sickly sweet if not used to occasionally cuss you out or mutter some morbid thing about this that or the other. What? Did you expect this warrior to be as charming as her appearance? Her laugh is certainly charming though, like the twinkling of a wind chime... that is until she actually becomes amused - her genuine laugh is much more energetic. But that's something that has to be earned and learned about with some effort on her friend's part.

Keeping to her affinity for the classical feminine, she loves to wear all sorts of dresses in pastel colours. Particularly long flowy dresses in shades of oranges and pinks which compliment her hair and skintone. If she can track down golden jewelry, she'll have that on too - golden things attract her like a magpie. Of course there is practicality to consider too, which is why she ties her hair up and is often found wearing leather gloves and strong boots. She hits hard and fast, so she's got to protect herself while doing that. Otherwise, there isn't too much effort forced upon her appearance - she has the unmatchable talent of simply waking up like this~

Personality:

Taking in her pleasant appearance, you might be suprised to experience just how chaotic in nature Vanessa really is. She isn't purpously messy all, but her airheaded ways can make her life a bit of a scatterbrained mess. While her appearance is as flawless as they come, the mind beneath is... less so. In terms of her relationships with her peers, this means she is not quite the best person to depend upon. Her friendship with you will not be a difficult one, but sometimes she shies away from excessive responcibility or committment meaning she won't stick around to be a shoulder to cry upon. On the other hand, if there is a problem she recognises as solvable she'll charge in to do just that - fists at the ready (whether those problems require physical assistance or not.)

On the other hand - while she appears approachable to strangers - she simply doesn't know what to do with herself with those outside of her closest circle. When it comes to sociability, this young lady is not the best person to converse with. While she does make attempts to engage in small-talk, her head rarely seems in the conversation unless it's something that really captures her interest and therefore attention - and those topics appear to be far and few inbetween, requiring some digging to discover. Meanwhile with these slightly more involved conversations, she can come across as excitable like a child and tends to appear far more immature than she is, allowing all her energy to seep out into her discussions of her favourite things. This is usually in a bit of an aggresive change from her more ditsy or nonchalant exterior.

What makes her such a lethal force though is her ability to concentrate so fully on her goals. Guided often by the desires of others (she doesn't like to let her own emotions sway any of her bigger decisions, and complicated strategy/intelligence is... not one of her strengths) she follows through her plans without hesitation and with unmatchable devotion. Much like her strikes, she achieves her goals stubbornly and fast but unlike her strikes she can be a bit underhanded about her motivations. Where her strikes are always within sight, her motivations and morality can be a bit more complex - she is deceptive as a wolf in sheep's clothing and unapologetically so.

Skills:

Physical combat: very adept in her usage of martial arts. She has trained long and hard to be as precise, strong and fast in her aim as she is. Her hits have the potential to be lethal if neccessary.

Long-range weaponry: she knows her way around a bow and then some. She treats arrows like she does her fists, hitting swiftly and precisely. It helps that you can move fast with a good bow, too.

Unshiftable concentration: she locks on like a wolf to their prey. Once a target or task has her attention, that absorbs all her time until it reaches it's conclusion. There is no diverting this woman from her goal, but you are welcome to try.

Strengths:

She hits like a bullet - that is with precise aim, aggressive speed and vicious intent

A skilled warrior, she is effecient in dispatching enemies quickly whether that be with her fists, feet or a long-ranged weapon (she favours the bow in that case)

Vanessa is good at switching off her emotions if they get in the way of her tasks. Maybe that makes her a stone cold killer. Perhaps, but that is better than being a remorseful one, is it not?

Weaknesses:

Not very good in long-term battle, stamina-wise; she likes to hit a few times then get away as fast as she can to avoid being hit

Not particularly good at taking hits either - one good hit and she's done (either nope-ing out or actually knocked out)

I'd like to say she'd be charming given her physical beauty, but she looses any sense of charisma the moment she opens her mouth to try and flirt

Kai'zen appears vastly different both within the water and out of it. Where he is a magestic beast (albiet terrifyingly so) in his preffered habitat of the deep wide ocean, he is a vastly different creature once he emerges from the shallows. Sopping wet and allowing water to drip from his drenched hide, he does not appear much like a dragon at all - more dishevelled and pitiful like a wet dog. He does not much like land, so it is rare for this to occur but when he finally dries up he does return to a more normal dragon-like appearance - or more accurately when he allows excess water to finally evapourate off his scales. If he were to continue to dry, he could find himself actually loosing the vital amount of water that fills his scales and body which causes him to loose his abilities - not to mention quickly causing dizzy spells, nausia and ultimately falatity if he fully 'dries out'.

When well hydrated each of his scales (large and plated like chain-linked armour; a good 1 and 1/2 inch length with about half inch thickness and width each) are each filled with ocean water and as a result make him appear any shade between a deep oceanic blue or a murky greenish blue-black. It all depends on the amount of light available to bounce off the surface of his scales (darker of course when there is a lack of sunlight or even cloud coverage, lighter with direct sunlight warming his hide). However his scales - despite what you may expect with them seemingly opaque on the clearest days, the water trapped inside a lighter shade of blue- green - are not actually colourless themselves. When he begins to draw water from his scales in favour of supplying some attack or maintaining his health, his scales actually shink in size, smoothing his hide from what resembles a crocodile's to what is more like a smaller lizards: that is, a thinner sheet of scales with few ridges and more gentle to the touch. The scales also form a solid block of colouring as they shrink in size - usually a darker green-blue but varying in hue up and down his body. As he dries from top to bottom, this colour gradient follows this pattern, lightest (a clearer seafoam green) by his head and darkest (as murky and black as the mariana trench) by his ever-wet feet and tail.

The change in scales a gradual change in size. When free to swim the ocean he can reach about the size of a fully grown sperm whale: about 65ish ft in length (including his rather long tail) and his height from feet to shoulder is about 20ft with an additional 25ft to account for the rest of his height. A few hours later, you may notice he has decreased in size, only measuring around 55ft in length due to the water loss and his height decreasing to around 18ft as well. This varies depending on just how dehydrated he is, but is interesting to notice even as a novel thing. His wingspan is about the width of his body and are webbed like a bat's, functioning similar to the mammilian in terms of mobility, function and durability. They are quite suprisingly powerful when in contact with water however, the water appearing to bond with the webbing (though it doesn't entirely funtion this way.)

On the whole, Kai'zenanriah is quite the streamlined dragon. Aside from the roughness of his hydrated scales and a series of porpois-like ridges across his spine he has very few distinguishable markings. That suits him find though, as he likes to be an ambush predator. Although, in terms of predatory features, his teeth deserve a breif mention: they are a dazzling pearly white despite his canivorous diet. His claws follow a similar trend, instead a sea-foam white against the dark of his scales. He has narrow amber eyes befitting of an aquarious hunter, but they are quite weak overall since he relies on water vibrations in hunting alonside communications from dolphin and whales.

Personality:

One with the sea.

Abilities:

Hydrokinetic attack: This takes the place of what would have been his ability to produce fire like most dragons. He is able to shift water stored in his body into a concentrated jet of sea-current blast, causising the victim to feel as if they've been swept underwater by a riptide even if they have suceeded in keeping on their feet. Kai'zen tends to aim for the chest or face, so he can disorientate his foes.

Bioluminescent glow: The silliest little ability ever. If he wishes to, he can cause his scales to become bioluminescent - or even just a select few. This of course takes energy, and is rarely any use above the deepest depths of the great ocean, but it might be useful in guiding the way at some point... Anyway, this is an ability only used when he is in water, or at the very least when he is 'hydrated'. If he has begun to dry out he's not in a position to waste any of his precious water.

Sonar communication: Aside from the forms of communication all dragons possess, Kai'zen can also exchange information through soft sonic frequencies, much like a whale. He often sounds as if he is humming when above land, even if this is not his intention (sometimes he forgets he is not communicating with the whales which have been his only companions for the past few years)

Water-influenced shape-shifting: Technically it is shape shifting. He can force the water in his scales to move out or elsewhere allowing him to shrink in size or vice versa. Additionally while he cannot change anything else to much of an extent he can influence the movement of water inside of his scales even as far to as freezing them to produce different colours - so basically he has the potential for some incredible camouflage. Of course there is the minor problem of his enormous size... And the fact he is terrible at managing to maintain a specific mimicry (as such this is an ability which often goes unused)

In truth most of Kai'zen's abilities are less so specialisations of his biology, and more physical feats of brute strength merely supported by his dragonic nature. He is able to produce large tidal waves and splashes of water with his wings and tail if areas of water are available, though argueable any dragon could achieve the same results (although likely without the cumulation of sea-foam that adorns his wing edges when he performs these attacks - he seems to melt into the water to become one with it as he attacks, though this is a trick of the eyes.)

Strengths:

Quickly energised with any kind of water contact. Rain is always appreciated, but a full soak in any body of water is good (especially seawater.) He absorbs it into his scales which act like mini water stores.

Gets along decently with almost anyone. He's suprisingly good company. It helps to be as easygoing as he is... or you know, unbothered.

He's one of the most adaptable beings you could know. Sure he has a major preference for ocean-living, but he can adapt well enough to land (or sky.) Plus his willingness to adapt extends to situations too.

Kai'zen can swim and breathe through his gills as easily as he can fly and breathe with his lungs. He is a dragon, and their natural domain is land and sky afterall (he just likes the ocean too, as a water dragon tends to.)

Weaknesses:

De-energised on land - very sluggish if he's dehydrated or hasn't been rejunivated for days. He has no requirement for being in water, but is practically useless if he doesn't have a good supply at all times.

Terrible eyesight and weak hearing above water - relies on mental communication & sonic sounds (as he would beneath the water anyway)

Anything that effects water effects him heavily: high temperatures/freezing temperatures (although he is more resiliant to the latter), pollution of any kind particularly effects his health.

He relies much more of physical attacks to defeat his enemies... this often involves him dragging them down to the depths where they enter his favourite domain. Or else he reverts to the most primal form of warfare, attacking with teeth and claw like a dog.

Somehow seaweed always gets caught in his large scales as he tries to climb back on land, giving him even more of a wild and oceanic look. Or dishevelled, depending on your view.
