Yoshi(tsune) Takashiki
Given the name "Yoshi" from her grandmother, who conveniently has the same name.
Age:
25, relatively young in the world of kitsunes.
Gender:
Female
Sexuality:
She’s straight but is very friendly and some people mistake it as flirting (because she lowkey is half the time). When she realizes that people are attached, she feels like a terrible person. That doesn’t last long, thankfully. Her heart really isn’t built for existential crises.
Species/Family:
Kitsune
Appearance:
Yoshi, as she prefers to be called, is a rather slender thing. She is about 5’7’’ with thin limbs that are always held in a loose stature. Her bouncy movements, almost as if she is halfway to the moon, give off the impression that she is constantly daydreaming in a fairytale state. The habit of ticking her head to the side when listening (only somewhat intently) highlights the asymmetry of her face and clothing. In fact, she loves the slightly lopsided design, finding it charming. On the flip side, she will comb through her hair with her hands or rebraid certain strands while speaking to others. During longer stories, she speaks with her hands- even conjuring up illusions between her palms to illustrate. Learning of her abilities has only made her penchant for theatrics worse.
Her light-hearted laughter almost sounds like the jingling of small bells. And she speaks in over-exaggerated tones, always a whisper or a shout with drawn out syllables. Speaking in a hushed tone while close to someone always makes the comment feel more direct, more personal. Or, it keeps her more engaged instead of talking the ears off of the entire group. She blurts out the most random things that pop into her head, loudly shoving her inside thoughts to becoming outside thoughts. When she is in a place unsuited for her “problems with having an inside voice,” she stresses the syllables even more. Honestly the dramatics subtract from her transatlantic accent (kind of a mix of British and American), so I’m not really complaining.
She has ivory skin that is typically covered in powdered minerals. It’s probably important to preface this with her vanity, but we’ll come back to that in a second. She has a smooth jawline, button nose, and high eyebrows. The bottom lip is a plump pink, resting under the cupid’s bow. Usually, she will have a thin layer of something she picked up at the grocery smothered on her lip. (The farmers actually use a similar recipe for bag balm, but we don’t need to tell her that.) She has hooded eyes, always sparkling with excitement and only overshadowed by her long eyelashes, some dark and a few silver. One iris is the color of a blue hydrangea and the left of a yellow peony. Yoshi loves to create a variety of bold eye makeup looks with powdered minerals that she also found at the grocery. (Because apparently she can’t grocery shop like a normal person.) Her go-to look is usually some kind of sparkle in the inner corner of the eye faded into a pink and into a soft brown. Then, she lines with a soft charcoal that the Egyptians claimed was safe for the waterline. Talk about the ultimate advertisement. Although she may be vain, she is messy. Her eyeshadow, despite how long it took her to figure out the right combination for her face, is slightly smudged and messy as if she just throws it on and runs out the door in the morning.
Yoshi has honey coloured hair that already has strips of silver growing throughout it. Not that she’s stressed (heavens forbid), just traits from the kitsune part showing through. Previously, she actually liked it, thinking it added a shimmer that’s almost like birds’ feathers. Now, she knows that it is from her kitsune heritage and finds it even more special. It is a flowy texture that reaches for her mid-back. Very rarely will she pull it back. She needs her hair to stay down so she can fiddle with it when bored. Small strips of hair randomly dispersed throughout the head are braided and adorned with colored beads or little gold loops. Sometimes she even tucks in little flowers she has found on her journeys.
Now, she isn’t one to obsess over clothing. Sure, she likes loose, flowy fabrics and softer colors, but her style of wearing them is… questionable. Nothing she ever wears is symmetric. Her outfits always have to have some kind of imbalance. Usually, she contrasts each side with chunky gold jewelry. Or, her shirt will be a wrap-around with the collar pointed toward one side or the other. Belts tend to lean to where their clasps aren’t centered and have items tucked in so she doesn’t have to carry them. Shoes often match in model, but are actually different colors that are close enough to where a colorblind person may not notice. It’s like walking into your room and everything is tilted by 30 degrees. Everything is one. step. off. The one thing about her apparel that will always remain consistent, however, is her constant usage of lavender perfume.
When she is in her Kitsune form, she appears as a silver fox with one tail (as they get more as they age.) She has a long body with dainty paws, a narrow nose, and thicker fur on her chest. This form has short, fluffy ears with brown faded into her silky fur. Similarly, her thick tail also has brown faded into her pelt color.
Personality:
What she seeks: cheap entertainment- and y’all are paying for it. She does everything for the plot, with this trip being her new impulse decision. As long as it’s entertaining, she’s in. She is, as best said, a people person. Other humans are so much fun to be around because they tend to be unpredictable, unlike many of nature’s natural patterns. Yoshi will walk up to someone that she’s never met before and start talking their ear off . She’s almost too friendly for her own good. Someday she’s going to make someone mad by saying something offensive to them when it’s just her usual lingo. Or, she has the problem where she starts flirting with people the second time they’ve talked to each other and then realizes that other people take things more seriously than she does. To her, it is almost a game and she has learned not to take it to heart.
Somehow, the people she actually cares about are the ones she pesters the least. She has very few of these people in her life, but they keep her grounded and remind her that she is still capable of forming meaningful connections (contrary to popular belief). Although, she still keeps aspects of her usual demeanor. She has a slight understanding of the concept “time and place.” With these people, she can craft her usual jokes to fit how comfortable she actually is with them. Her usual “toys” tend to view her yapping like a backwater dam after it has rained. (Small town + low cost dam +lots of rain= no good.)
Some people think she’s shallow, but she gives off that impression to make people like an “airy bobblehead”. Actually, she feels a pressure to keep up this mask to hide her inner insecurities. Somehow, she has been convinced that people like naive, spacy, or eccentric individuals rather than those who are honest with themselves. She, deep down, believes that nobody actually wants to talk to her. Her inner insecurities pressure her into trying to force people to like her instead. But, she loves to lie to herself to where she is convinced that she is not the problem. It gets to the point where she can not distinguish between her truth and reality. I guess her “masking” is due to the fear that everyone is going to leave her eventually, perhaps because someone has once before. It’s just a trauma response that also leaves a disconnect in the “caring for others like a normal person” part of her brain. It’s almost as if she literally can’t sit with her own thoughts and goes to pester everyone else instead. So when she hears some kind of praise, or anything positive about her, she becomes more inclined to talk to that person. Flattery is about the best way to get her to warm up to you.
Now, a girl still has to enjoy her life. Yoshi actually loves simple joys in life rather than elaborate things. She enjoys home cooking rather than attending fancy events, and she will always collect flowers on long journeys to press for her collection. Sure, she worries about makeup or the rain messing up her hair, but she still loves to see pretty scenery and watch the birds. Their chatter is one of the most relaxing things she could hear.

Strengths: She doesn’t take anything to heart. Well, that’s both a strength and a weakness. But that means she can’t be offended.
Magic. Duh. It's in the way of illusions and lightning, although she is much better with conjuring illusions.
Let’s call her creative. That’s… one way to word it.
Weakness:
Yoshi has a tendency to not consider how her actions affect other people. Her impulses end up making more trouble for them or cramping someone’s style. Then, she makes even more work for them by not doing her part (or doing it poorly) and causing others to have to fix it.
Easy to coerce into *small* favours by flattery. She also gets attached to people who hand out compliments easily.
She hates when people see her for what she really is- an insecure little brat. Well, maybe not entirely a brat, but you get the idea.
Often she lies to herself to where the truth is distorted. This makes it really annoying to get any information out of her.
Iron ._.
Other:
Lowkey, if we had gone to school together I would’ve hoped she slipped and fell on a banana in the lunchroom.
If Thanksgiving is a real enough holiday for y’all, lol
