Eden slowly blinked in agreement, her gaze dropping down to Priscilla’s hands. Despite how much she had been staring at them earlier, the subtle scars had gone completely unnoticed. She tried to take notice of them now, commit the faint discolorations to memory and store it away. She wasn’t quite aware of why she was so intrigued by Priscilla, why she wanted to study, or perhaps analyze every aspect of her. “You know, I don’t think I could ever have long nails like that. Especially with the horses.” She stated absentmindedly, tilting her head slightly to the side as she admired Priscilla’s stilettos. “They are damn pretty though.” The comment followed before Eden really had a chance to register the compliment. She gave a soft shake of her head, deciding to play it off, after all, things were going pretty well so far- right?

The blond couldn’t help but smile as Priscilla rambled slightly. It was odd to see her in this way, so unguarded. Of course, they hadn’t spent more than a handful of minutes together since they were kids, so theoretically everything they were learning about each other was different, or new, in a sense. Maybe for the first time ever, Eden was getting a chance to see a whole new side of Priscilla. “I’ll return the favor and let you borrow them sometime.” She replied, half-teasing, half-not. Her relationship with her past roommate wasn’t exactly the sharing-clothes or whats-mine-is-yours sort of thing, and normally Eden was extremely particular with whom she lent stuff to. There was something in the way Priscilla easily slipped the ring onto her finger, almost without a second thought, that made her want to share something with her too.

The blond tried to catch any evidence of a blush or embarrassment at the teasing, but if Priscilla was in any way surprised she didn’t let it show. Almost as soon as the words finished coming out of her mouth, Priscilla responded back with her own tease, exaggerating it with a deep sigh. It shouldn't have come as a surprise, since Priscilla was always the more eloquent of the two, especially in arguments. The last few lines made Eden’s ear prick, and she had to keep herself from furrowing her brows. Eden hadn’t really ever pondered Priscilla’s sexuality, and it wasn’t like she had ever said anything to insinuate anything other than being straight. Hell, even earlier she specifically mentioned not having a boyfriend, and whatever that weird situation with Weston was clearly wasn’t platonic, even if it was from his end. It certainly wasn’t something you asked someone you used to have a decade long rivalry with just hours after starting to reestablish a new beginning. It’d be a lot. It’d drive her away. It’d be fucking stupid. She thought to herself silently, pushing the thought away. In any case, what did it matter to her what Priscilla’s orientation was?

Getting with a roommate was complicated with a capital C. If things didn’t work out it would just be unbearable, and especially given their history, they were grade-A experts on how to make the other’s life an actual living nightmare. It was something that absolutely under no circumstances should they ever cross, the blond decided in her mind. Besides, it's not like Priscilla even liked girls. She made that explicitly clear. Eden had nothing to worry about.

Though if Eden thought her perfume was addicting, there was nothing like the sound of her laugh. The sound of the giggles ricocheted around the large, practically empty dining hall. It was seraphic, her southern accent giving it a signature honey-like quality. She felt a sudden lightness in her chest, her teeth instinctively biting down on her bottom lip to keep her from smiling. There was no reason for her laughter to be so contagious. It almost made Eden want to reach forward and pull Priscilla’s hand away from her face, hopefully seeing her distinctive double canines that charmed her so.

Despite how much the comment made her heart skip a beat, the blond forced herself to give a roll of her eyes, letting out a half-hearted sigh; though her face conveyed her true amusement, eyes sparkling with mirth.“Alright, I think someone needs some shut-eye.” She said, feigning a voice of authority while gathering the rest of their leftover trash, placing it all atop the plastic tray. While Priscila had managed to pull her out of an almost unavoidable bad mood, which was no small feat on its own considering how easily Eden became overwhelmed by her emotions, she could tell both of them were desperate to get back to their dorm. “I don’t know about you, but if I stay here much longer I’m gonna lay down on the floor and use the tray as a blanket.” She exaggerated, motioning with her hands to the objects around them.

Priscilla tilted her head as Eden spoke about her nails, slowly shrugging. Yes, it was rather difficult with the horses with her nails. "Oh, it's my worst nightmare." She chuckled slightly, a wide smile gracing her lips as Eden called them pretty. Her hand extended out, held gently in the air as she spread her fingers to let Eden see them a little more up close. Miraculously, they didn't have any sort of scratches or anything of the sort on them. A pretty shade of dark red, shimmering in the bright white light of the dining hall. Layered with some sort of sparkles, although they were only visible once looked at a certain way or she moved her fingers. Given that she was a reiner as well as a cutter, it definitely did make life difficult with them.

She needed to half full control over her horse at all times, especially reining when the horse was spinning so fast it made her dizzy. And the skidding stops, of course. It seemed the nails had a positive impact, though. It made her more aware of her hands, causing her to have a softer hand when riding. She was never particularly harsh but she had a bad habit of pulling on the reins a little too much. The nails fixed that problem, since she was focused on not damaging them or causing them to fall off. That stupid grin of hers was still there, the comment having much more of an effect on her than Eden could know.

After a moment, she took her hand back and rested it down in her lap, palm gracing her bare thigh. Her hand unintentionally trailed upwards, slipping just under the hem of her shirt and above the waistband of her shorts. Her fingers ran along the length of her tattoo, tracing the outline of the antlers. It was an unconscious habit she did sometimes without even realizing it. She could recreate every little detail of that tattoo without ever looking at it with the amount of times she traced over it. "I look forward to it. I promise they'll be on good hands." Her stupid grin grew even wider, and she reached up to tuck a small strand of black hair behind her ear. Her dumb little joke also attributed to her smile widening.

Something about the idea of wearing Eden's rings made her feel a little warm and fuzzy for no reason in particular. Maybe it was the idea of them sharing things, or the idea of getting to wear something of Eden's. Her nails were now tracing the skull of her tattoo, the gentle feeling of her sharp nails gently pressed into her skin sending a shudder through her body. Priscilla seemed to realize what she was doing, glancing down before removing her hand. She wouldn't feel the need to explain herself unless Eden asked what the hell she was doing. Maybe Eden hadn't even realized the movements. With the way she was grinning, it finally crossed her mind her teeth were visible. She hated her teeth with a fiery passion.

In her opinion they ruined her entire face. She had always used to love them up until high school. Lovers and enemies alike said they were an unsettling sight and took away from her pretty features, like her eyes. Priscilla, being an already self conscious person, believed it and immediately started to hate them. Her grin faded, becoming more of a little smile without any teeth showing. She really needed to stop caring about what people thought of her but she couldn't help it. Her eyes were focused solely on Eden, seemingly examining her in a subtle way. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't find any sort of feature she disliked about her.

It made her wonder if there was anything Eden was insecure about. It's not like she'd poke fun at her or make her feel worse about herself if she did, but it was a genuine curiosity fueled by her sleep deprivation. Priscilla rolled her eyes and gave a small groan, leaning fully back into the chair and tilting her head slightly back. "Nah. I bet I could pull an all nighter." She joked, crossing her legs over one another. Her hips shifted in the seat, making the plastic more comfortable for her to sit on. Priscilla focused on the movement of Eden's hands as she placed their trash upon the plastic tray, gazing at the way the ring glistened and shimmered in the light as she moved.

It made her wonder if anyone had ever done the same to her before. Especially with the way she was constantly moving her hands and finding something for them to do. "Maybe I'll join you. If foil can keep food warm, it can keep me warm too." Again with her little giggle, brought out by her tiredness. She slowly uncrossed her legs, pushing her chair back before she stood up. Priscilla glanced down and turned her leg slightly to the side, gazing down at the marks and imprints the chair left on her skin. Her hands reached out and she carefully lifted the plastic tray up, glancing around to find the nearest trash can. It was one of those big circular ones. Priscilla forced herself to move, her feet nearly dragging with the effort it took to lift them.

It wouldn't be a surprise if she just gave up halfway to the dorm and laid down in the grass to sleep. She definitely would've, if the spot was secluded. After throwing away the trash and placing the tray on the rack next to the trash can, she returned to Eden, feeling as though her legs were about to give out from the short walk. For someone who had such toned legs, she definitely didn't act like it with the way they were trembling slightly. It seemed as though sitting down for too long made her even more tired. "I don't know, I think you're gonna have to leave me here. I can't make the walk back." She huffed, straightening her stance so her legs were no longer trembling.

(thank you!! it's a portrait i did of my puppy <3 but unfortunately the quality was killed when i uploaded it :') )

Eden’s copper eyes gazed down admiringly as Priscilla offered out her hand closer, inspecting the delicate nails with a new found curiosity. She had only noticed them briefly before, and it was really the feeling of the keen tips grazing on her skin that had captured her attention. She couldn’t help but observe now how much the dark ruby hue seemed almost blood-like, rich and full of depth. She shifted her head slightly to the side, catching a brief hint of shimmer, as though imbedded in a deeper layer of the color; though it was hard to catch under the desolate white lights that illuminated the dining hall. It had become much more frigid now that they were essentially the last people there, the atmosphere turning eerily silent. It reminded Eden of what a hospital would feel like after all the visitors had gone.

Her eyes were beginning to have a bad habit of consistently following Priscillas’s hands, almost as if enchanted to go along with the movements. She blinked twice, hoping to break away and look at literally anything else, when the particular motion piqued her interest. It wasn’t just an idle going back-and-forth, Priscilla seemed to almost be tracing a pattern, the curves and arcs deliberate. Her nose scrunched ever so slightly, innately curious and the desire to ask her if she was alright, if it was just a habit, if she was even aware of the movements. The question hesitatingly lingered in her mind, before she ultimately decided it’d probably be a bit weird for her to ask, and she shouldn’t be paying so much attention to specific details like that anyways. She’ll think I’m like weirdly obsessive.

In a way, Priscilla’s restlessness sort of surprised Eden. She had always been a fidgety kid growing up, finding it difficult to sit still or concentrate on one thing at a time. The only time she would be more at ease was the barn, being around the horses obligated her to be steadfast and calm. Particularly during competitions, where she found the last few minutes before a class unbearable, but once she entered the arena it was like everything else faded away. She knew what it felt like to have that same level of restlessness, like an almost subconscious unease. Eden momentarily wondered if Priscilla had always had the habit, was it something she had just never noticed? Was it something that developed over the years, growing progressively worse, like hers? The blond chalked it up to having an intense childhood, constantly going from studying to lessons to other extracurricular activities, that now she doesn’t know what to do with herself or any free time she has. For better or for worse, between her studies and the endless hours she dedicates at the barn, there hardly seems to be any time at the end of the day.

“Oh yeah, I’m sure.” She jested back sarcastically, her warm eyes crinkling. Eden watched as the short woman grabbed the plastic tray, immediately wanting to offer a hand but realistically there was no need; all the trash fit neatly atop the platter. She took the opportunity to push her own chair out, stretching her legs and stubbornly masking a yawn before standing up. Stepping to the side, she made sure to push the chair in against the table before setting her hands on the back of her hips, arching her spine to release the tension her poor posture had accumulated. Drawing her eyes back to her roommate, the glossiness of Priscilla’s hair stood out to her. The sheen was almost ebony-like, especially since the ripples of waves and curls intensified the reflections. Of course, the stark lighting was a helping factor, but Eden could tell that she must dedicate some amount of time into her hair. I’ll have to ask about her routine sometime. She thought silently, running a hand through her now mostly-dried waves.

The blond couldn’t help but laugh at the dramatic comment, the sound coming out with a low hum. “Wow, you didn’t think of taking up acting school with that talent of yours?” Eden quickly responded back, her brown eyes squinting playful. The taller girl swayed slightly, thankful her hands were now full with her dorm keys and cellphone. Standing face to face, Eden could barely make her eyes maintain eye contact for more than a few fleeting seconds. She inexplicably wanted to reach out her hand, intertwine her fingers with Priscilla’s, feel the warmth of her skin as they made the walk back to their dorm. She gave a shake of her head, as if literally shaking the thoughts out of her mind. She cannot have a crush on Priscilla. Things were finally going well, and a crush would do nothing but ruin whatever sort of relationship they were starting to develop.“Come on, it’s getting late.” She murmured, taking a few steps backwards to keep facing her roommate, motioning with her head towards the door.

As the pair left the dining hall, the sound of heavy bass music, people’s voices and general clamor echoed from several different directions. Not even that far away, Eden could see Alpha Gamma Rho, one of the biggest fraternities on campus, looking as if it was about to explode. There was a mass of people both in and outside the fraternity and strobe lights flashing in rhythm with the music, which was playing so loudly Eden almost thought she could see the house shaking. A pang of gratefulness washed over her, realizing how lucky they were to get a dorm building that was on the opposite side of campus. “Remind me to never complain about the walk from our dorm.” Eden sighed, the noise rumbling out almost like a purr in her weariness.

(you're so talented!! what's their name? i've been waiting to snag one of your deer adopts the past couple days ;) )

Priscilla stretched herself out slightly and cracked her knuckles, her heart dropping instinctively when she didn't feel her ring. It was habit, she never took the damn thing off and thought she'd lost it for a moment. Her gaze turned to Eden, glancing down at her hand. She stayed looking at her hand for a moment to make sure the ring was actually there and her sleepiness wasn't making her hallucinate. She only looked away at the sound of Eden's voice, the joke making her chuckle softly. Her hand went to her hair, giving a dramatic flip as her other hand went to her chest, right over her heart. "I know, I'm just such a good actor. I didn't take up acting because Hollywood would never be able to handle me." Priscilla shook her head softly, letting out a few chuckles.

Exaggerating everything and being overly dramatic was one of her favorite things to do. At times, she liked to exaggerate her accent to make her sound like she'd just come the deep pits of the south. Technically she did, her hometown being only an hour away from both the Flordia and South Carolina state lines. She's been all over the south, every single state. It was kind of funny how each state had their own unique accent, though all were grouped into just one. Hers was personally a weird mixture of a drawl and a twang, dragging out her words and twisting pronunciation that caused some people to not understand what the hell she's saying. Her hands graced her sides, running up and down where her pockets were to make sure she had everything.

Prisiclla wasn't sure what time it was, but all she knew was she would immediately collapse into her bed as soon as they reached the dorm. Maybe take a minute or two to remove her makeup again, but that was it. As Eden took a few steps back, she followed immediately without even thinking, like an obedient dog. When they left and were outside again, she was immediately focused on the sky and the fireflies. Like a moth to a flame, she just couldn't look away. It was peaceful until she noticed the blaring music, making her grit her teeth in annoyance. She glanced over, looking at the strobe lights that flashed a variety of colors. Priscilla was no stranger to the party scene at all, but she couldn't help but admit how obnoxious that was.

It was truly much better to be inside the house than outside. She snorted in amusement as Eden spoke, nodding her head in agreement. "Yeah, seriously. At least we can sleep in peace." Priscilla looked away from the house and focused on the path before them, walking alongside Eden. The more they walked, the more irritated she was getting hearing the blaring music. She couldn't quite walk in a straight line, causing their shoulders or their sides to brush into one another. Being tired had nearly the same effect on her as being drunk did. Unable to walk correctly, speaking and acting without thinking. She glanced down between them, an odd urge overtaking her.

Priscilla noticed that Eden was holding her phone and the dorm keys in one hand, the hand on her other side. Before she could even think about stopping herself, she reached down between them and gently took Eden's hand. She laced their fingers together without a second thought and let their hands drop back between them. Eden's hand was warm and soft in her own. It was force of habit to hold the hand of whoever she was with. With her friends, Priscilla held their hands or grabbed onto their sleeves to keep them together. This was no different than that. It took her a moment to realize what she had done, but she didn't pull her hand away.

"Sorry. Just.. habit." Priscilla spoke softly, rubbing her thumb gently across Eden's. She kept the grip loose to let Eden pull away if desired. In her tired, loopy mind, she seemed to momentarily forget the fact they weren't friends. Spending hours with Eden gave her a lot of new information and completely changed her opinion. The thought that Eden may think she's weird hadn't even crossed her mind, and it wasn't going to. For her, these things were normal. The brushing of their shoulders, their hands now intertwined together. The little rubs of her thumb. She was letting herself get too comfortable and she didn't even realize it.

Priscilla had instinctively matched Eden's walk, keeping the same stride and pace down to a T. Their feet even moved in sync. Thankfully the pathway was dead, no one around to see them casually holding hands and walking so close together like this. Priscilla could easily just let go and put a gap of space between them but she definitely didn't want to. The hand holding brought a sense of safety and security to her. It wasn't all that long before the dorm building came into view, causing her to break their perfect sync and speed up a little. It took Priscilla a small moment to realize the hand she was holding was the one that had the ring on it. One of her fingers lifted, the pad of her finger resting over the stone on the ring.

It wasn't even on her hand anymore and she was still tempted to play with it. Priscilla toyed with the ring, moving it back and forth slightly with little effort. It didn't occur to her how intimate all of this may have seemed to Eden. It didn't occur to her that Eden may not even enjoy this the way she did. For all she knew, Eden still hated her and viewed her as an enemy that wasn't to be trusted. Priscilla's state of mind shrouded and blanketed these thoughts and didn't allow her to think them at the moment. If she was well rested, none of this would've been happening. She wouldn't have grabbed Eden's hand. She wouldn't be brushing so closely against her. She wouldn't be rubbing her thumb.

The sound of their feet scuffled along the sidewalk, somewhat muffled from the frat party blasing invasive music. Eden’s head dropped slightly, watching as their steps slowly yet surely synchronized. Though she was a few inches taller, they had almost identical strides, seeming to match their paces effortlessly. The further they walked, the more she appreciated the growing silence, the faint rustling of the wind in the trees. She suddenly felt a hand slip into her own, warm fingers interlocking softly. Her hand remained rigid for just a fraction of a second before she manually softened her muscles, the blond daring a glance at the woman beside her.

Eden hoped it didn’t show, but just as it had earlier, the tentative contact made her heart skip a beat, her heart having lost all regularity and beating out of rhythm. She wouldn’t consider herself a particularly “touchy” person, though it wasn’t because she innately disliked physical contact. She was even envious sometimes of people who could so easily show their affection with hugs or hand-holding like this, it was something she could never initiate herself. Eden rarely hugged her best friends growing up, mostly during holidays or birthdays, things that warranted special celebration.

Even now, years later, Eden had a hard time showing physical affection with her friends. There’s this underlying fear she has of touching someone and having them get the wrong idea that she’s hitting on them, or worse, making someone uncomfortable. It likely stemmed from a fear of girls seeing her as predatory or making a move on them since she was gay, and she didn't want anyone to interpret anything the wrong way. It was probably the same reason she didn’t come out to everyone she met.

The blond kept her eyes trained on the ground, her mind replaying a memory from a few years back, when she had been 16. Eden had just switched disciplines for the first time, moving to a foxhunting barn which she had only been going to for a few months. She and a few other of the older lesson students had decided to go out on a trail ride after their group lesson, stopping by the creek to sit and let their horses graze for a few minutes. She felt like she was just starting to be accepted into the friend group, the five of them laughing their hearts out and splashing water at each other. She was sitting next to Lily, the girl she felt she was closest to out of everyone at the barn. Caught in the moment, Eden reached out and gently took Lily's hand, giving it a small squeeze and rubbing her thumb along the back of her soft hand. But the mood shifted unexpectedly, Lily pulling out her hand abruptly and shadow crossing her features. They didn’t directly accuse her of anything, but it was clear they thought she had some “lesbian intentions” with the touch. The rest of the ride back was awkward and mostly silent, and Eden felt like it took months for the whole thing to blow over.

“It’s ..fine.” The blond responded, hoping Priscilla wouldn’t catch the fragment of hesitation. In all actuality, it was fine. More than fine. The delicate rubs against the back of hand sent goosebumps trailing all the way up her arm, each time they brushed shoulders Eden could just pick up a trace of the mix of florals and vanilla that was becoming so familiar to her. And yet, the contact felt daunting. Just hours earlier that day Eden was considering switching dorms to avoid Priscilla, now they were walking back from dinner holding hands? Something in her skeptical mind told her that this was a risk, to be cautious, to not trust everything Priscilla says.

Eden slowly unclasped her hand from the short woman’s loose hold, her fingertips just barely dragging against Priscilla’s as they approached their dorm building. She took a few longer strides, positioning herself to the side as she opened the door out for her, a shy smile on her face. She followed soon after, letting the dense door close on its own as the pair made their way down the hall to their dorm.

Priscilla had caught the small tone of hesitation whenever Eden spoke, but she didn't let go of her hand. So, she tightened her grip a little bit. To her, it brought a sense of safety and security but she wasn't sure how Eden felt about it. It was probably the weirdest thing ever to her, considering the fact they didn't even like each other. Well, that was a lie. At least on Priscilla's end. She'd discovered a newfound fondness for Eden that she thought to be impossible. She was a firm believer in second chances and to forgive but not forget. She'd grown as a person and she believed that Eden did too. Priscilla forgives it all as it comes back to her and forgives everything that she leaves behind. A sort of motto she'd picked up over the years.

No ill feelings harbored for people in her past, hence the forgives everything she leaves behind. Forgiving it all as it comes back to her is more of a karma thing. Perhaps it would sound silly to anyone she explained it to, but it was something she held dear to her. She was brought out of her thoughts as she felt the warmth of Eden's hand leaving hers, and she almost reached out for it again. Priscilla's eyes followed Eden's movements as she lengthened her stride and opened up the door, standing off to the side. "How polite. Thank you." Priscilla gave her a stupid little smile as she walked past, mindful to not trip or get caught on anything. As they walked down the hall to their dorm, she was quick to reach into her pocket, fishing out her wallet. Of course she had already attached her set of dorm keys to the keychain holder.

This time it was her who lengthened her stride, making it to the door first. Prisiclla fumbled with the key for a moment before she shoved it into the keyhole, struggling to turn it for a moment before it unlocked with a little click. Those damn doors always gave her trouble when it came to unlocking things. She stepped a little to the side as she opened the door, allowing Eden to go through first. Once the taller girl had gone through the door, she followed her inside and pulled the door shut. Her mind instantly went to cleaning off her makeup before she could even think about collapsing in her bed. While Priscilla definitely didn't want to take it off, she had to. She didn't really fancy sleeping in makeup.

Her legs seemed to instinctively carry her over to the makeup vanity where she chose to lean over it rather than sit down. Normally she would go fully clean her face again, but she was too tired for all that effort. Priscilla bent her legs a little further to bend down over the vanity just enough to see the mirror. She grabbed the sleeve of cotton pads and the bottle of makeup remover neatly organized on the shelves, placing both things down. Pouring a little bit of the remover onto the pad, she closed one of her eyes and brought it up to her eye. It didn't take much effort to fully clean everything off with no streaks, since she didn't use waterproof things.

Prisiclla gazed at herself in the mirror for a moment, blinking a few times. Her lashes were naturally long and pretty, already black in color. But according to her they weren't pretty enough. She stood up straight again and quietly made her way over to her bed, sitting down on the edge and letting her feet dangle. Her hand reached out to the handle of the drawer on the bedside table, pulling it open. She tucked her wallet into the front of it and gazed into the drawer, then over to Eden. Tucked towards the back of the drawer was a small array of medication bottles lined up according to height. She was almost embarrassed to let Eden see them.

Her hand lingered over the bottles, inhaling softly as she picked one of them up. Priscilla skimmed the label, making sure it was one of the correct ones she was looking for. Yendell, Priscilla Aubrey. She didn't even have to read the actual label, she knew it was the right one since it was the only one with her middle name. Her sleeping pills. It didn't matter how tired or exhausted she was, it was near impossible for her to sleep most nights. Oddly enough, she had no issues falling asleep when she was laying next to someone or cuddling with them. But that wasn't really an option here. Priscilla dropped the bottle into her lap, grabbing another one. Most of them were meant to be taken in the morning.

She struggled with the lids of the little orange bottles for a moment, letting out a soft sigh of relief after she opened them. Once the pills were in her palm, she glanced up to Eden again. She'd mentioned sleep issues in their earlier conversation. Priscilla reached out to grab the water bottle that had been left on the bedside table the whole day. Her favorite one. Metal, lilac purple in color and covered in different sorts of stickers. She dropped the three little pills in her mouth, taking a drink of water from the bottle before she tilted her head back and swallowed. It wouldn't take long before the calming and sedative effects took over. Priscilla placed the bottle back onto the table and reached down to grab her phone charger, plugging in her phone and setting that onto the table as well.

Priscilla expected her body to fight off the effects of the pills, as it usually did. She almost didn't want to be around Eden when that occurred. A little careless about her actions at the moment due to her sleepy state, but this was a whole new level. She glanced over to Eden, clearing her throat softly. "I'm apologizing right now for anything I say... or do." Priscilla gave a small chuckle, praying she didn't do anything stupid. She adjusted her position, moving so that she was lying on her side facing Eden. The covers were pulled over her, and she immediately relaxed into the bed. Maybe it was better to turn over and just try and sleep instantly so she didn't absolutely humiliate herself.

(goose! everyone always looks at me funny when i say her name. she's just this big scary dog(even though she's a puppy) and everyone is like what do you mean that's her name. i'm sure! i often have discounts and whatnot for rp partners.. just not stated on here. also haha expect art of priscilla and eden sometime, once i start drawing them i can't stop)

(you're all good! i hope today is a much better day for you <33)

Eden couldn’t help but smile as Priscilla stepped to the side of the door, finding the little back and forth a bit cheesy yet charming. She ducked her head a little, trying to hide her smile and biting her bottom lip. She was mindful this time of the sill of the door, taking a perhaps exaggerated step over the door frame, not willing to risk another fumble. While she never really was the postcard of grace, her clumsiness always seemed to get exponentially worse in front of others. She was no stranger to tripping over thin air, or knocking things off tables, failing to catch things… the list goes on and on. But no matter how often it happened, the embarrassment certainly didn’t get any easier, although Eden was trying to learn to just laugh those situations off when she could and not let them preoccupy her mind.

She heard the door close behind them with a definitive click, sneaking a glance at her roommate, watching her make her way over to her side of the room, to the vanity more specifically. Now with her bed in sight, the temptation to just climb into bed, bury herself under the covers and give in to sleep was greater than ever. She forced herself to slip off her shoes, aligning them neatly beside her desk before dropping whatever she held in her hands, her keys and wallet landing haphazardly on the wooden table with a loud thump Eden didn’t intend to make. Her eyes seemed to grow heavier by the minute, the soft fragrance of vanilla and her own perfume lulling her senses, making her movements uncoordinated, her thoughts drowsy and scattered.

The sound of a hollow rattling came from behind her, and she halfheartedly turned her head about halfway, her back still turned to Priscilla and her body facing the desk. It didn’t take long for Eden to recognize the transparent orange bottles, though she wasn’t nearly close enough to read the labels on any of them. She turned her head back around, hoping Priscilla hadn’t caught the offhand glance. Eden’s brother had been diagnosed with ADHD since he was 7, and she was 5, and she knew firsthand how much he hated being hounded with questions regarding his medication. It wasn’t her business anyways to know what Priscilla was taking or why, despite the spark of curiosity the bottles produced; a bout of sympathy intrinsically washed over her, and she genuinely hoped that they weren’t for anything profoundly serious.

She brought her attention back to herself, running a hand through her hair, her fingers heavy and getting tangled in the web that was her air-dried waves. Eden had already scratched down a checklist on a little post-it on her desk earlier, hoping to make sure she doesn’t forget anything for the next day. She went down the list, putting away the notebooks and folders she would need for her 10am class, as well as whatever pens and other stationary stuff she liked to carry around, just in case. After the class she’d have to rush back to the barn in order to make it in time for the trail ride she had planned, but that was a problem for the Eden of tomorrow. She zipped her bookbag with a sigh, letting it down on the ground at the food of her bed.

It took almost everything in her to climb up onto the high-set bed, grabbing whatever few throw pillows she had and tossing them carelessly to the edge of the bed. Normally she’d probably pile them up neatly on her desk, if she had room there, or at least on the floor piled up together and out of the way, but today there really just wasn’t enough energy to care. She somehow scuffled under the covers, sitting in a sort of half-upright, half-down position. “Honestly, I may not even last long enough to hear any of it.” She giggled, her eyelids already making her roommate look hazy.

Despite the university having some decent accommodations, even Eden had to admit that the size of the dorms were a bit lacking. There was maybe three or four feet of space between the two beds, though it seemed like they were closer than that. Eden could almost reach across and graze Priscill’s' cheek if she wanted to. Not that she did, but in case she wanted to, she could. It really did make more sense to push the beds together, it would open up the room a lot more. Most couples did it. Or people who just didn’t mind sleeping next to each other.

The blond scooted further down under her multiple covers, adjusting herself so that she laid on her side, facing Priscilla. For a fraction of a second, Eden wondered if this is what it would’ve been like in another universe. If instead of becoming childhood rivals they’d been best friends. Maybe they would’ve even planned to go to the same university intentionally. Put in requests to be each other's roommates. She wasn’t sure why, but Eden had a vague intuition that Priscilla was probably a very good person to have a friend. Almost as if she could sense some sort of loyalty about her. Or reliability maybe? She wasn’t really sure, or at least couldn’t think enough to make up her mind at the moment. A soft smile crept across her face, and she bit her lip to keep the giggles she had building up from bursting out. At this point she assumed it was the exhaustion that made everything seem a bit funny, a laugh constantly at the back of her throat. “Goodnight, I guess?” She offered out, her voice a low whisper.

(tell goose i love her. literally the cutest thing. and that's so kind of you, thank you!! <3 ALSO PLEASE?? i need art of our two dumb girls. thanks for the patience by the way <3)

Her mind grew foggier and foggier, though Priscilla could still stay awake. She slowly half-turned her body and reached behind her, grabbing one of the various stuffed animals. Bringing it close to her chest, she gently leaned her head down and pressed her nose into the soft fabric. Like all of her things, it smelled heavily of her. She slowly looked back over to Eden. Her gaze was perpetually locked on her eyes, almost as if she was entranced by her. Its not that Priscilla was into her in that way, she just thought she was really, really pretty. She always had a thing for blondes and while this wasn't a romantic attraction, it was no different. She'd always been jealous because Eden has blonde hair and she doesn't.

After a long while she had eventually decided that black suits her more than blonde, which shut down any thoughts of dyeing her hair. In her opinion black brought of her eyes more. Priscilla's hands subconsciously rubbed along the stuffed cat. It was big, weighted, and black in color. It had large, round yellow eyes that almost made it look alive. Her gaze followed Eden's movements, watching her prepare her things for the next day. And then watched as she scurried under the covers. She spoke, but Priscilla was intrigued by her little giggles. They were the most adorable thing to her in that moment. Priscilla was desperate to hear them again, to say something to make her laugh.

But she didn't know how. Priscilla knew how to anger her and irritate her to no end, not how to make her laugh or giggle or blush. "I hope not." She responded with a small little laugh of her own, but her words were genuine. While still coherent enough to speak normally and organize her thoughts, she was slowly slipping away. And she hoped Eden would be asleep by the time her stupid rambling started. She continued to gaze at Eden, lazily trailing her eyes head to toe as if to savor every little bit of her. But she eventually stopped on her hair again. She wondered if her hair was as soft as her hands. Maybe someday she'd find out. There was so many things she wanted to say to Eden, but thankfully her thoughts were still coherent enough that she didn't. She wanted to say sorry for being a bitch all that time, tell her how pretty she was, and ask if she could feel her hair.

They were so close that she could reach out and run her fingers through her hair if she so chose to. Priscilla snuggled a little closer into her cat stuffed animal, almost burying her nose into the sweet smelling fabric. It drowned out the entirety of Eden's perfume but engulfed her in her own. At the sound of Eden's giggles daring to break free through her bit lip, her heart fluttered a little bit. Priscilla wanted nothing more than to tell her to let it all out. "Yeah.. goodnight. I guess I'll see you sometime tomorrow." She spoke in a soft tone, slowly letting her gaze drop to the floor. It was likely they wouldn't see each other until late in the evening.

Priscilla had her first class at 8AM. And then after classes she had made plans with Kadie, which she knew would spiral into something else that would last through the rest of the day. Perhaps they'd end up wandering off to some bar, where Kadie tried to persuade Priscilla to hook up with someone or just give in and hook up with her. She didn't know if Kadie's words were actually a joke or not, though she claimed to be straight. Priscilla slowly clutched the cat to her chest and turned her body over so her back was to Eden. She knew if she kept looking at her she'd never go to sleep.

Priscilla never actually closed her eyes. She stared at the wall for awhile, nose buried in the head of the stuffed animal, just inhaling her own scent. By now, her mind was a haze and she couldn't control her own thoughts. So, she slowly turned herself back over, facing Eden. Priscilla wasn't sure if Eden was asleep or not but it didn't matter. "You know, you're really, really pretty. I used to be really jealous of you. I almost dyed my hair blonde." She began her rambling, her voice soft and sweet. Her gaze drifted down to her own hands, her nails dug gently into the car stuffed animal. She hoped Eden wasn't awake in the back of her mind.

"I wish I was never mean to you. I wish we could've been friends. If I could take it all back, I would in a heartbeat. You know, maybe this is a second chance for us." Her rambles continued, gaze shifting around the room. She still didn't know if Eden was asleep or not. Maybe she was right, and this was a second chance for them to make amends. She wondered what it would've been like if she chose to switch roommates earlier. Her feelings of bitterness wouldn't have been discovered and melted away into feelings of fondness. Instead, Priscilla would've kept thinking she hated Eden and wanted nothing to do with her.

But now, she wondered what it would be like to trace her fingers up and down Eden's side. Priscilla wasn't gay. Or maybe she was. It didn't matter, she just wanted to feel the curve of Eden's spine and learn the little divots and dips of her skin. They were not sexual thoughts, but in her hazy mind she couldn't control her thoughts. She pulled the covers up further. They were warm and soft and smelled like vanilla. "I've never been interested in a woman like this before. I don't know how to put it- but you look very kissable." Would she kiss Eden if she had the chance? Yes. She would.

These feelings are confusing to her in ways she couldn't even begin to describe. Priscilla slowly turned and rolled onto her back, gazing up at the ceiling. She let out a soft huff and released one hand from the cat. It traveled down to her own side, two fingertips running up and down as if imagining her waist was Eden's. These thoughts were definitely not the things of a straight woman, that was one thing for certain.

(sorry if it's jumbled or confusing!! i rewrote this two times because i got busy and forgot to save :') and you're welcome! i don't expect a reply every day, i understand you've got a life <3)

(i definitely wil!! i already have an idea to draw em with their horses. or them on each other's horses during the partner thing)

Despite feeling as though each eyelid weighed fifty pounds, Eden managed to hold onto consciousness for a little while longer. With a snap she barely remembered to set her alarm, lazily tossing a hand out from under the covers, someone grappling for her phone and squinting at the sudden brightness of the screen. Once she was sure the alarm was set and double checking to make sure the volume would be loud enough to wake her up, the phone returned to its previous resting spot. As she readjusted herself more comfortably, Eden’s brown eyes automatically landed back at the woman laying in front of her, just now seeing the plushie she had wrapped in her arms; the sight involuntarily bringing a crinkle to her eyes. Prisiclla’s face was half covered with the stuffed cat, almost as if she was peeking out from behind it, the low lighting of the room softening her features.

The moonlight beamed in from their window, just barely making trace highlights upon Priscilla’s face, but it was more than enough for Eden to see her eyes. Under the moonlight, they seemed to glow with an almost iridescent shine, the blues seemingly morphing into hues of green and purple. She couldn’t help but notice every aspect of her profile with a new found appreciation. Her eyebrows made a stark contrast, angular against the rest of her complexion, while her freckles seemed more prominent in the nocturnal light, as if Priscilla were moon-kissed instead of sun-kissed. Her hair was more raven-like than ever, her thick curls appearing an almost dark purple-like hue.

Eventually the sleep clawing at her won out, the pauses between her blinks growing in length. She moved a hand under her arm, curling into herself as she did almost every night. Eden thought she had begun to hear a soft voice, a whisper, but she couldn’t make out any of the words, already drifting off to sleep.

-

The first thing Eden saw when she opened her eyes was the warm yellow sunlight basking in from the window. The first thing she heard was the sound of the alarm clock on her phone insisting she get up out of bed right now. It took a moment for her to coordinate her limbs enough to reach a hand up and turn off the alarm, nearing dropping her phone onto the ground in the process. She did however manage to catch a glance at the time before doing so: 8:30. It was a decent bit earlier than she really needed, considering her class was just at 10, but she preferred to get up earlier and take things at her own pace than wake up in a rush.

She couldn’t help but sneak a glance at the bed beside her, even though she knew it would be empty. Priscilla was already at her 8am class, probably suffering through some mathematics equation. A mix of empathy and cringe washed over Eden, it certainly wasn’t a great place to be. The only thing that remained of her now was the faint lingering of florals in the air.

It only took a second for Eden to gather the strength to get out of bed, planting her feet firmly on the ground and reaching her arms upwards, arching her spine as she stretched. She walked around the edge of her twin-sized bed, picking up the pillows she had so nonchalantly kicked over the night before. It didn’t take her long to smooth out the bed sheets, folding and laying the velvety throw blanket over the edge, and lastly laying out the pillows into a semi-effortless arrangement. Eden took a quick glance over at Priscilla’s bed and the array of stuffed animals that adorned it. Next to her’s, her own certainly seemed a bit… barren perhaps? A little friend or two maybe wouldn’t hurt, she thought silently, already imagining how a dark brown stuffed horse would look with the rest of the bed set.

Satisfied enough with the state of her bed, the blond made her way over to their shared bathroom, the tiles cool against her bare feet. She studied herself for a moment in the mirror, giving an off-hand shrug before reaching over for the toothpaste. The rest of her morning routine was simple- and relatively nonexistent. The only other thing she did was wash her face, and on the rare occasion put on both serum and day-cream. That was if she was having a good hair day of course. If not, she could spend what seemed like hours in the bathroom, attempting to micromanage her hair into any style or hairdo that she thought would be at least somewhat presentable. Luckily for her, today her hair was fairly decent, the waves still distinguished enough to go without rewetting the curls.

The task of deciding on an outfit however was not quite so straightforward. Eden probably spent at least half an hour just looking at her wardrobe, conceptualizing outfits in her mind before discarding them and starting all over again. After much debate she managed to settle on a pair of faded black straight-fitted jeans, and a short, almost cropped but not quite, reverse-striped navy t-shirt. It was a far too simplistic outfit for having contemplated it so long, but at this point she just wanted to get it over with. She made sure to pack her breeches and a thin polo shirt into her bookbag for later, having forgotten to do it the night before. She just barely remembered her water bottle, snagging it off her nightstand blindly, her mind preoccupied with thought about her future classes, the blond staring blankly off into space. Though the bottle did seem oddly heavier than she was used to, she wrangled it in with the rest of her belongings, zipping up her backpack without a second glance.

As she sat on the floor of their door room, tying up the laces on her sneakers, Eden momentarily wondered when she’d see her roommate again that day. Maybe they’d even accidentally crash into each other at the barn, though Eden wasn’t even quite sure what plans Priscilla had for the day. And not that she cared that much, it wasn’t like the blond was trying to keep track of Priscilla’s every move, she was just slightly curious as to if their paths would spontaneously cross at some point in the day.

(the half-night/half-morning thing worked well, so thanks for that ;) i know "technically' time-wise i skipped over scilla's morning routine so please if you want you can totally write it up, i don't want to micromanage her or anything <3 )

By 6:30am, Priscilla had already been awake and picking out her outfit for the day. The sun shining through the window was streams of delicate pinks and yellows, not very bright yet. While she did have very varied styles of clothing, she decided to go with something western. It was one of her few go tos when she didn't know what she wanted to wear, which was rare. Priscilla rubbed her eyes sleepily and glanced back at her bed, then to the sleeping figure of Eden. She looked peaceful in the few glances Priscilla stole. Feeling as though it was almost an invasion of privacy to be looking at her while asleep, she tried to avoid it. She skimmed over her drawer of jeans, humming softly as she pulled a pair out.

Her classic pair of dark-blue Cinch's, which she liked because they fit her particularly well in the waist. As for her shirt, she opted for a nearly designed flannel. A red and white plaid flannel with white shoulder patches and the back just below the collar adorned with pretty red flowers, small and dainty. The inside fabric of the flannel was matching, so whenever the sleeves were cuffed, the cute little flowers were revealed. Priscilla would usually wear something under a flannel but she had no interest in doing so today. It was too hot to layer. Now gazing through her sock drawer, she furrowed her brows as she tried to decide on a reasonable pair. Well, reasonable wasn't really the right word here. None of them were.

She ultimately decided on a pair of baby pink with a goose wearing sunglasses scattered all over them. Leave it to her to own something as ridiculous as that. The next things were her undergarments, which she just grabbed at random instead of picking a usual matching pair that went along with her outfit. Another stolen glance to Eden, and she paused for a moment with clothes in hand. Would Eden wake up if she were to just change in the room itself and not the bathroom? She didn't know, but the very last thing she wanted right now was for Eden to see her naked. So, she quietly walked into the bathroom, only flicking the light on after the door was shut. Priscilla set her clothes down on the sink counter, gazing at herself in the mirror.

She always thought she looked her best in the morning with messy hair and a sleepy look to her. It was one of the few times she didn't feel self conscious. Her hand went up to her hair, running a hand through the messy waves. After giving herself a small examination, she reached for her toothbrush, which was pink and white in color. Her morning routine could be extensive most mornings. It was only as complicated as she felt like handling. And today, she just wasn't feeling the whole thing. So she opted to brush her teeth, wash her face and apply her usual morning creams. Priscilla then reached for her hairbrush which was placed neatly in the corner. A pretty dark purple with black bristles.

She steered more towards pink or purple colored things, even though as a child she resented 'girly' colors. And now she would never pass up something that's a cute baby pink, or a lilac purple. This morning was not the one to brush out her hair so it was straight. She only fixed it up enough so it wasn't messy and it wasn't knotted, keeping the natural waves. Her night clothes went in the hamper, which she didn't mind sharing with Eden. She could only hope they wouldn't get their things mixed up once it came time to wash them. Priscilla shut the light out before she opened the door, her moments quiet and her footsteps light. She hated people who were loud in the morning and turned on every damn light there was in the room.

Priscilla sat back down on her bed, opening up the drawer to her bedside table quietly. Unfortunately morning medications were not something she could skip. Anxiety meds, antidepressants, and another thing she was too embarrassed to tell anyone about. Her mental health issues were.. a sensitive topic, to say the least. One her pills were taken, she gently tapped her phone and glanced down at the screen. 7:25am. Since it was the first day there really wasn't any need to bring anything. They would only be going over the syllabus, anyways. The only thing she really cared about is if attendance was a part of the grade. Next up was her makeup. It was a nonskippable part of her day unless she had absolutely no plans.

Priscilla got up from her bed, taking another glance to Eden before she quickly glanced away. She sat herself down at the vanity, grabbing her things. Mascara, false lashes, eyeliner, eye pencil, eyeshadow, blush, and her lipgloss. The first step was the mascara, which helped blend the false lashes with her natural ones. And then the false lashes, which she took great care to perfectly put on. She took a quick second to lean in close to the mirror and make sure they were in place. Priscilla hadn't turned on the vanity lights, so she was relying on the sunlight to see. Her eyeliner was her usual double lined cat-eye, in her inner corner and on the outside. She used her finger to gently dip into the dark colored eyeshadow, applying a moderate amount under her eye and up close to her waterline. And then the eye pencil, which was horribly daunting but she somehow managed to get though putting it on her waterline.

Then her blush, applied in small amounts to her cheeks and very minimally to the tip of her nose. And last but not least, her pink colored lipgloss. The result was never too much, it never looked crowded and was more minimal than one would think for so much effort put in. But it made her look a whole lot better, in her opinion. It wasn't that she thought she as ugly. But she had ugly features. She liked her nose, especially the way the tip was upturned. Priscilla didn't like her cheeks, which she thought to be a little too full for her liking. It was funny how she hated such features on herself but loved them on other people. The next thing she did was slip on her boots, black in color with floral engravings. Her cowgirl boots as she liked to call them. She made sure to pull her jeans down over her boots, as tucking them in was only for doing chores or muddy days.

Priscilla paused for a moment. Which drawer did she put her belt in? Did she even put it in a drawer? After some frantic digging in some drawers she managed to find it. Dark brown with horse deigns and floral engravings. Animals and flowers seemed to be her whole vibe for the day and it wasn't exactly intentional. She slipped her belt through the loops and adjusted the buckle.. which of course, had a horse on it. She'd won it from some completion years ago. Her wallet around her wrist abd her phone in her hand, she was ready to go. Before she went, she went to the bathroom for a few more quick sprays of perfume. At 7:47am, she quietly left the dorm and made sure to gently pull the door shut so it didn't close too loudly. The air outside was a little humid and it smelled like fresh cut grass. It was a little foggy, and the pretty pinks and yellows in the sky cut through the fog to create a show of light.

It didn't take her too long to walk to class, and before long she was settled into one of the wooden seats. In her mind it was almost set up like an auction ring. All the wooden chairs up in rows. Or, well, they were more like benches or auditorium seats. Connected in rows but separated by an arm rest. And the area at the bottom where the professer normally was. She hadn't been there for too long before a girl settled into the seat to her right, the chair squeaking softly. Priscilla turned her head, eyeing the girl to see if she knew her. And much to her surprise, it was no other but Catalina Summers. "Long time no see, huh?" Catalina spoke first, her pretty voice soothing. Priscilla fully turned her head and offered a small smile. "Guess it has been. How've you been?" She asked softly, folding her hands in her lap.

"Good. I bought a new horse.. you might've seen him? The big bay warmblood.. had him imported from Belgium." She spoke in such a nonchalant tone, as if it was no big deal. Of course you did, Priscilla thought to herself. "I'm not sure I did. I've still got Clementine." She shrugged, as if it was the worst thing in the world to have the same horse as last year. "You know, I don't know why you didn't let me buy her from you." Priscilla narrowed her eyes for a moment, recalling the time Catalina had offered her an absurd amount of money to buy the mare. As stupid and cheesy as it sounds, no amount of money was worth it to get rid of the mare. They had a bond like no other, and that wasn't something she couldn't find in another horse.

"What do you want with her, anyways? She's a Quarter Horse. And you can just.. go buy a carbon copy of her." Catalina responded with a wave of her hand, green acrylics glinting in the light. If there was one thing they had in common, it was their love for acrylic nails. "She's pretty." There's a moment of silence between the two girls. "..grullos aren't out of your budget." Catalina gave almost a confused look when she heard the word budget. "Yeah. But she's got that cute stripe on her back and the cute sock." Priscilla gave her an almost dumbfounded look. "Horse is off limits, I'm sorry." Catalina just shrugged and murmured something under her breath, causing a sigh to escape Priscilla. Catalina was very pretty.. too pretty. The prettiest blonde hair, not quite platinum but just about. Long, soft, and perfectly straight.

She had these blue eyes that seemed to stare right into your soul. A beautiful light shade, almost like ice or the morning sky. Little hints of darker blue and even some green flecks. And then Priscilla noticed something- Catalina was wearing eyeliner. The eyeliner Priscilla had taught her how to do after she demanded to be taught.

(of course! haha hope you don't mind this is sort of a long read, it's nothing particularly important. if you want we can skip to what they're doing after classes? i don't mind at all if you want to go through the classes :))
