Lucifer didn't know that Cleo saw what happened until he heard bags being set on the counter. At seeing her face, he knew at that moment that he fucked up. Granted, he wasn't the one who ended up kissing Katelyn, but it probably seemed that way from Cleo's view from the entrance to the kitchen. She also probably didn't see that Katelyn was the one who pulled him towards her and only saw the result afterward. After this morning, she is probably thinking that he is lying about what he said about what happened last night not being a mistake and his feeling towards her. That definitely isn't the case even if he tried to deny it to anyone else. Before he could say anything, she is out the door to get the rest of the groceries. He shot a glare towards Katelyn, hating how she had to do such a thing and let Cleo see. She must've known that Cleo was going to come home soon and have her see him kissing the woman sitting in the chair in front of him. How he hated being in this situation. This is why he doesn't get involved with having feelings for someone and then having an ex-lover try to wiggle their way back into his life. Though, he mostly pushed people away as he didn't want to feel the heartache and the pain he would be in again. He wouldn't be able to handle it. He stood up from the chair, pushing it in when he saw her trembling hands. "Cleo..." He trailed off but stopped when she dropped a jar of olives. His heart clenched at how she is reacting to what happened. He went to reach out to her after she tended to the cut on her finger, but he decided against it and pulled his hands back. He got the broom and dustpan, sweeping the glass up and throwing it away in the trash. Everyone stayed silent as the two moved around the kitchen to put the items away. He had to think about what to say to her before anything else happens. "Cleo, please believe me that I didn't want that to happen." He whispered as he moved around, his voice seeming to have a pleading tone to it. "You going to tell her Lucifer?" Katelyn asked him after a while, causing him to turn towards her after putting stuff away in the fridge. His brow raised, wondering what the hell Kat is even talking about. He gave Cleo a confused look, not knowing what the woman is even talking about. "What is going on between us?" He looked back at the woman again, still confused. "There is nothing between us, Katelyn." She stood from her chair and walked over towards him, a small smile on his lips. "Stop kidding yourself, Luci. You were the one that kissed me." She said as she trailed a hand up his arm. That definitely set him off when she blatantly put the shift onto him that he did it. His hand slammed on the counter, causing her to jump and take multiple steps away from him. A muscle ticked in his jaw, his teeth clenched together in anger. "You are the one that kissed me. I am not going to have someone say that I did something when I didn't." He snarled, causing her to clamp her lips together. His eyes burned in anger as he stared down at her, wanting to bash her head in for what she has caused. "You had to ruin the one good thing that I had because you kissed me. Now Cleo probably doesn't trust me, believes what I am saying, and probably thinks that I don't have feelings for her." He didn't dare glance in Cleo's direction not wanting to see if he is right about what he just said that she might be feeling now. "Get out." He seethed through his clenched teeth. "When you truly die, I will be waiting for your soul in Hell. You will wish you hadn't done what you did with what I am already planning on doing to you. You are going to wish that you were never born after what will be done." He grabbed her roughly by the bicep, causing her to yelp by the action and the pain. He dragged her to the door and shoved her out of the house. "I see you again, I won't hesitate to kill you." That was all he said before he slammed the door in her face. He turned and took the steps two at a time. He went to his room, slamming the door behind him. He paced the room, anger boiling in his chest. He hated this feeling that he lost Cleo because of what Kat did. His heart clenched, causing him to turn and push his dresser over. It crashed onto the floor, following the sound of glass shattering as he threw his mirror to the floor. He slumped onto the edge of the bed, his head bowing as his hands gripped the hair at the base of his neck. What is he supposed to do now?

Cleo watched the interaction between the two and instinctively she took a couple of steps towards Lucifer. Internally she was screaming at herself to tell him that she did believe him. There was a slight feeling of relief when she saw the confusion on his face when Katelyn spoke up. When his hand landed on the counter, one would have thought she would jump but instead she took a few more steps towards him reaching out. "Lucifer..." She stepped back when he grabbed Katelyn and forced her out of the door. Maybe the two of them had gotten in over their heads with the teasing and little flirtations. She bit her lip waiting until he was finished wanting to talk to him. Though she missed her chance when he went up the stairs, she followed after only to catch the door in her face when he slammed it. She placed a hand on the handle flinching when she heard the crash and shattering in his room. But the flinch quickly changed as she threw the door open letting it slam against the fallen dresser. "Are you--Oh Lucifer..." She moved over to kneel in front of him. Her hands moved to cup his face trying to bring his gaze to hers. She rubbed her thumbs against his cheeks as her eyes searched his face. "Lucifer...." She lifted her face to rest her forehead against his closing her eyes. "Please don't shut down. Don't let her mess with your head." Her voice wavering as she spoke, fearing that if she opened her eyes the tears would begin to fall. Maybe she should offer to step away from being his protector. Yes it would hurt but she could feel herself getting too attached with her own heart to the man in front of her. Her eyes slowly opened as she pulled her head back before speaking again. "Talk to me...Please." Tell me to stay and I will. Just please don't withdraw...Her heart pleaded to him. She didn't want to lose the Lucifer she had seen last night or even this morning when they were smiling and talking. One of her thumbs brushed against his lips as her eyes never left his. She wanted to kiss him so bad, try to erase what had just happened even though it had killed her to see it. "Trust me Lucifer...You know me better than that. You know I wouldn't just walk away that easily." A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as she spoke. Her next words though hurt as she spoke. "If you want I can leave. I can call Lucious and have him take over as your protector...I don't want to leave but is it illogical to think our emotions will interfere with what I was originally supposed to be doing. My heart is screaming for me to stay here, though my brain is saying leave before we get in too deep." A lump caught in her throat as she spoke, her eyes moving to look down at the floor trying to blink back tears. "You are the one who's safety is at risk. I...don't want to be the reason you get hurt."

Lucifer knew that he is going to have to clean up the mess he made. He will do it later, not caring if his bare feet get cuts from the glass when he walks across the floor. Hell, it may even take away the pain that his heart is feeling. It hurt him to see the look on Cleo's face when she saw Katelyn kissing him and how she reacted afterward. It hurt him that he was the one who caused it, even if he didn't initiate the kiss in the first place. All he did was help her with a wound on her arm from who knows what. He wonders who did that, but he doesn't care since she practically tried to force something that isn't true into Cleo's mind about them. Sure, they had a flame back in the day, but that ended decades ago. After that kiss, he knew that nothing could happen between them again no matter how much she tries to force them to do so. He didn't look up when he heard the bedroom door slam against his dresser. He stayed in his position, his gaze focused on the floor. He heard his name when Cleo entered, but he didn't dare look up. He even avoided her gaze when she lifted his face, but he did relax under her touch as she rubbed her thumbs against his cheeks. He felt calmer, but he could still feel the anger bubbling in his chest as well as the heartache tugging at his heartstrings. He took a glance at her when she told him to no shutdown, seeing that her eyes are closed. He couldn't help not to shut down as he just got hurt and then he hurt someone he cares about in the process when he has told himself that he wouldn't do that after he did it towards Selene. She thinks that talking to her is going to help what just happened. He already feels himself withdrawing from his feelings and guarding them once more. This is why he was always incapable of love because then he lets people slip through his fingers when he starts to draw himself away from them. That is what happened with Katelyn and he feels like that is going to be happening with Cleo after just the small misunderstanding just mere minutes ago. He doesn't talk about his emotions to anyone and people wonder why. This is the reason right now as well as what he did to Katelyn decades ago when he broke it off with her. He wanted to kiss her when her thumb brushed over his lips, but he did something else instead. He reached up and let his hands gently clasp around her wrists. He pulled her hands away from his face, not wanting his emotions to get in the way of what they are going to be talking about. He moved his hands from her wrists to her hands, his fingers interlacing with hers. He held them in his lap, looking at her with no emotion in his eyes, the same way he did when they first started their punishment in this town. Even though deep down he knew that she wouldn't just walk away from what she saw, but it probably made her think that he is a lying and cheating bastard, which he truly isn't. When he is committed to someone or cares for someone, he only shows affection for that person and doesn't give it to some other woman. At her next words suggesting that she could leave caused his heart to jump in his chest before dropping to his stomach. Even if he felt that his face didn't express a single emotion on his face at the moment. Though, his hands did slightly tighten around hers when she said that. He didn't want her to leave, but he felt like if they keep continuing on and end up in a relationship, he feels like she will only be in danger. So many creatures are after him that he is afraid that they will use her against him. He would regret it if she got physically hurt because of him. He couldn't do that to her and he couldn't do it to himself either as he wouldn't forgive himself and the fact that it would hurt him that she got hurt. "Cleo..." He trailed off, not sure what to say. He slipped his hands away from hers, his head shaking at her last comment. "If anything, you will be the one getting hurt as it would give them a reason to use you against me." He finally gave her a faint smile before he reached out as he gently placed his hand on her cheek. He didn't want to do this because it is going to hurt them both, but he had to to keep her safe. He felt a lump forming in his throat at what he is going to say, so he took a shaky gulp before he finally spoke the words he didn't want to. His face went back to a monotone look. "As much as you have stolen my heart for the first time in decades after I fell..." He trailed off as he took a deep breath in. He looked away from her, not wanting to see her face when he tells her the next words that he is about to speak. "You should probably leave. It is the only way to protect you." Even though I am going to regret letting you slip between my fingers.

"Only way to protect me? From what Lucifer? I knew taking this job would change my life no matter what happened. I didn't take it because it was easy. Everyone knows how hard it is to work with you." She leaned into his hand feeling the tears making their way down her cheeks. It hurt to hear his words even more after stating that she had stolen his heart. "You have stolen my heart as well..." She turned her face to kiss his palm and slowly pulled her hand away as she stood, feeling empty when his hand left hers. "I will go get packed then. The sooner I can set off, the better." She was turning to leave when she stopped and knelt down pressing her lips to his one last time. "I am just one call or text away. No matter what, I will try to come if you call. You aren't going to get rid of me that easily." A sad smile danced on her lips as she pulled away finally stepping out of his room. She closed the door behind her once she was in her own room leaning against it for a few moments before beginning to look for the clothes she wanted to pack. Deep down she knew that she shouldn’t be walking out the front door without telling him that she was going, but at that moment she didn’t think she could stomach seeing the coldness in his eyes again. Cleo ran a hand through her hair as she took a shaky breath and set the note down with the wedding ring on the little table that held the keys and a few little knick knacks. Goodbye Lucifer. She thought stepping out the front door with the duffle bag that she had packed. Cleo walked down the street pulling her coat tighter around her shoulders against the cold, fall wind that was signalling that winter was soon going to be in the small town. The angel hailed a taxi a couple of streets over from the house and climbed in giving directions to the farthest hotel. That was where she was going to be meeting the demon that was going to be taking her position as Lucifer’s protector. As much as she wanted to finish her assignment, the fact that no matter what she had tried she couldn’t get the King of Demons to lower his guard enough for emotions. She also hated to admit that her heart had gotten too invested and as she looked down at her ringless finger, her heart shattering as she sat in the back of the cab. Thankfully the driver didn’t pay much attention to her as she covered her face trying to hide the tears that were beginning to run down her cheeks. By the time she was in front of the hotel, Cleo had composed herself enough to pay the driver and climbed out walking into the expensive looking lobby. A raven haired male spun on his heels hearing someone’s footsteps and walked over to her pulling her into a hug. “My dearest Cleo...I am so sorry to see you leave. I promise to do my best and keep him safe.” The female only patted his back before pulling away from his embrace. “You better get to the house then, it won’t take long for Lucifer to notice that I left.” There was a hesitation in her movements as she held out the keys to the other person. The small motion was easily caught by the demon and he quickly grabbed the keys as he lowered his voice. “You shouldn’t have let your heart become invested dear Cleo...You know that better than anyone else.” Cleo’s hand lifted to slap the male but he quickly caught her wrist and kissed her hand gently before heading to the door. “Do try to not have fun without me.” Cleo stood in the lobby for a few moments as the realization began to sink in. Her next few movements she hardly registered as she got the key to her room and stepped into the elevator. It wasn’t until she was inside the room that she collapsed onto the floor burying her face in her hands as the tears flooded over the dam she had tried to make. Damn you Lucious. Her whole body shook with each breath as she sat on the floor. It took a few minutes before she composed herself enough to at least set her bag on one bed and change out of her clothes to take a warm shower. The warmth of the water brought with it another tidal wave of emotions as the few tender moments she had shared with Lucifer played through her mind. She quickly finished and decided to just crawl into bed and try to sleep as a way to ignore the pain. Lucious’s words played in her mind keeping her awake until her body caved to the emotional exhaustion it was feeling. She was in a deep enough sleep that she didn’t hear the door open to her room. The other’s footsteps were quiet as they approached the bed and quickly put a hand over the sleeping angel’s mouth. Cleo’s eyes shot open and she went to resist but the sweet scent that began to fill her nose stilled her movements as her eyes began to close once more. “Sleep Cleo...It will all be over soon...as long as you answer our questions.” Cleo struggled to keep her eyes open one more time but failed falling into a deep sleep. She woke up still in her pajamas that consisted of a pair of silky pajama shorts and a silky tank top. Her hands were tied back with chains that kept her just high enough off of the ground that her feet couldn’t touch. Her feet were also chained back to the wall as a way to keep her from kicking her attackers. As the fog cleared in her mind, she tried to get her bearings but a gloved hand forcefully grabbed her jaw and brought her attention to him. “Gary…” A sick smile was plastered on the male’s face as he seemed to inspect the angel. “Why hello Cleo. I hope you had a nice nap. I want you to be fully aware of what we are going to be doing.” He held his hand out and a flaming bar was held close to Cleo’s face close enough to cause the female to jerk back in response. “Now you won’t have to feel this lovely pole as long as you tell us where Lucifer is.” Cleo’s eyes narrowed and she shook her head. “Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. That is the wrong answer Cleo.” Gary pressed the hot iron into the female’s side watching as pain danced across her features that she tried to suppress only letting her wings show in a moment of weakness. That was the wrong thing to do as a knife was buried into her right wing gifting the male with the scream that he was wanting to hear. “Maybe if we make you call out, he will appear and try to find you. It is the perfect trap.” Cleo spat on the male’s shoes but earned a slap to the face and the knife removed from her wing to be placed against her throat. “Try that again...See what happens. I am not afraid to remove an angel’s wings. I have mastered the skill.” Defiance was clear in the angel’s eyes as she met his cold gaze without wavering. The male just shrugged before putting the knife back into her wing but in a different area. He turned and looked over at the instruments that were laid out on the table beside him. “Hmmmm. As much as removing your wings sounds, I think I will save those for last...I don’t want to make you numb quite yet.”

Lucifer knew she could take care of herself, but even then she would be in trouble. Sure, at first they only thought if her as a bodyguard but once they knew that Cleo means more to him than a college, that would give them motivation to get Cleo. Instead of killing her just to get to him, they would kidnap her and use her against him until he have them what they wanted. That would include either dead or tortured. In saying that, that is why he had to let the woman go. He so badly didn't want to, especially after her kissing him before she left the room. Sure, they could use Selene against him, but with her being with Aatto and then him as her brother, they don't dare try to bother her. They know they would be dead in a flash of an eye instead of being questioned why they thought it was a good idea to kidnap her. Then again, he hasn't craved being with another person since he was woth Katelyn. She knew about the tiny things that other people didn't know about. She is the first one in decades, besides Selene, to get through his ice wall around his heart. She is basically someone that he shouldn't let go no matter what gets thrown at him or at her. As cheesy as it sounds, it seems that she might be the one thing in his life that he has been searching for. Someone that completes him like no other person. He waited in his room for about twenty minutes with his thoughts before finally getting up from the bed. He was going to tell her to stay, knowing that even if he did let her go, he wouldn't get the chance to see her again. He couldn't comprehend the thought of that as he sat on his bed. He just hopes that she didn't leave yet. He threw her bedroom door open but didn't see her there. "Cleo?" He called out, his heart dropping when he didn't hear a reply from her. He walked downstairs, calling her name out some more. He went to the front door, ready to yank it open but stopped at seeing a paper and her ring on the table. He picked the note up after moving the ring to the side and read it. His heart only shattered at reading it, knowing that he made the mistake of letting someone he loves go once again. He has a knack for letting people go and knew he was going to regret it one day. Today is the day that he does. He went to the living room and flopped down onto the couch. He looked at her ring in between his fingers, a frown on his face and his heart aching. He closed his hand, keeping it in his palm as he reached into his pocket for his phone. He unlocked it and went to his contacts. He scrolled down to Cleo's name and pushed on it. His thumb hovered over the call button, but instead of calling her, he turned his phone off and threw his phone onto the couch next to him. He slumped into the couch, his hand on his forehead as he rubbed it slowly. He has once again pushed someone away that he cares about. What has he done? ------ Katelyn came into the room a few minutes after Cleo woke up. She stayed behind Gary but she watched as he hurt Cleo. She cringed at that, her gut twisting in uneasiness. She never agreed on hurting Cleo physically like this to get to Lucifer. She didn't like it for some reason. She was never one for physical torture like this to get the answers out of someone. That is the many reasons why she left Lucifer after he fell and became the Devil. As much as she wants to hurt Lucifer for what he has done to her, she didn't want it to be like this. She would rather have gone a different route, like her trying to make him fall for her again and then breaking his heart. Clearly that wouldn't work as it seems that man has a heart once again and has fallen for the Angel chained up before her. Before Gary could start harming the woman again, she stepped into the light and put a gentle hand on his bicep to stop him. She didn't look at Cleo as she already knew what the woman's reaction to seeing her is going to be. She could easily tell Gary where Lucifer is, but she isn't going to do that. She just hopes Cleo doesn't give it away that she knows where the man is. She has a change of heart and she wants to make things right. "Gary... I don't think we should do torture. It's... not right." She said, her voice soft and sincere. Though, she has a feeling that he won't listen to her. She glanced at Cleo, giving her a quick look that she is going to help her. "Nevermind. She deserves it." She said, giving the woman another look to say she doesn't deserve it. She just needs to play along with the man to help Cleo out. She turned on her black heels and walked to the table in the corner of the room. She sat down in the chair, making sure that Gary isn't paying attention to her before taking her phone out. She quickly brought Lucifer's contact up, snapping a quick pick of Gary and Cleo so he would believe her when reading her text. She told him that Cleo needs help and where they are before she sent it. Once it went through, she slipped her phone back in her pocket, trying to think of a way to prevent Gary from doing more harm towards Cleo.

Lucious soon stepped into the house whistling as he shut the door behind him. He was about to head upstairs but paused seeing Lucifer on the couch. "So you are going to mope about since she left? Maybe I do owe her some money with our little bet." He drummed his fingers against his chin while leaning against the wall. "Why did you tell her to leave anyway?" He knew he was prying but something was compelling him to do so. -- Gary paused with the long thin needle in his hand when Katelyn touched his arm. "She won't talk otherwise..." he pierced the skin on her arm watching as she bit her lip trying to hold in the pain. Cleo's eyes locked on Katelyn and narrowed the evident lack of trust burning in them as Gary prepared another needle. He tossed Cleo's phone to Katelyn before turning back to the angel. "Why don't you try calling him from her phone? He might answer just in time to hear her again." A sick smile formed on his lips as he placed the needle next to the first one watching the color drain from her face each time. Gary had been hired by someone that wanted Lucifer taken down. At first he wasn't going to harm Cleo but that night when he saw how possessive Lucifer had been, he figured he could use the angel against the devil. He grabbed Cleo's jaw once more, digging his fingers into the soft flesh knowing it would leave marks as he roughly turned her face. "Such a shame to have to mark up this pretty face and you were always so nice to me." With a shrug of his shoulders, he slapped her face and moved over to pick up a knife. Cleo's wings were beginning to droop behind her as Gary lifted the soft dark feathers. "She really has some beautiful wings. Too bad she won't have much use of them." The blade sunk into the feathery darkness earning a whine from the angel as she hung her head. It was taking most of her willpower to not let the pain overtake her senses and slip into the darkness that was slowly taking over her vision. Gary looked over at Katelyn and offered a blade to her. "Go on. Take out your pain from Lucifer. The metal has been coated to make it harder for angels to heal from them. My boss's specialty." Cleo could feel each antagonizing drop of her blood as it hit the floor. Her eyes lifted from the ground looking between the pair before she once more spat but this time it was on Katelyn's shoes. Cleo had a feeling she was behind things, especially when Lucifer first bumped into her. Anger flashed in her eyes as Gary moved to hold her needle free arm towards Katelyn. "Go on...she is waiting."

Lucifer glanced up when he heard the front door open. At seeing Lucious there, he let a sigh out as he pocketed the ring. He will just get another one as there is no way he is going to let another person wear the ring. His brow raised at hearing the man's words about a bet. He has a feeling that this bet has to do with these cheesy pickup lines and him falling for her. She tricked him quiet well then if it is a trick. That made him a fool for thinking that her words about how she feels towards him are false and he is foolish for falling for her. Damn him for always falling for people and making a fool out of himself for things. He was going to answer the man, but was stopped at hearing his phone beep. He reached out and picked it up in his hand. He turned the screen on, a frown forming on his lips at seeing who the text is from. He would've deleted it, but at seeing that Cleo needs help got his attention. He opened it, his eyes going wide at the picture that Kate sent him. Oh, Gary is definitely going to get it for harming Cleo. He left his phone there before getting up from the couch. He went down to the basement, grabbing some knives and some other knick knacks before heading back up. "You will stay here. You follow me and I won't hesitate to kill you." He warned, his voice holding no room for argument. "If I am not back in two hours, check my phone on the couch. It will tell you where I am." With that, he left the house without another word and headed to where Cleo is being kept. ----- All Katelyn could do is cringe in her seat as she watched Gary harm her. If he tried to cut her wings, she won't hesitate to step in and stop him from doing so. When he offered for her to take her anger out on Lucifer by harming Cleo, she had an idea spark in her head. She stood up and walked slowly over towards them. She stood before Cleo, her gaze flickering over the woman. She didn't like this and wished she could go back in time to prevent her from getting hurt. Had she known that Gary was going to result to physically harming the woman, she wouldn't have agreed to help him get back at Lucifer. That wasn't her speciality nor could she stomach hurting a person to get answers out of them. She slowly reached out before grabbing the handle of the blade from Gary's hand. She glanced down at it, feeling the slick of the blood under her hand. It made her want to vomit just feeling it and what is being done. Her hand seemed to tremble slightly for just a moment. Her gaze went to Cleo, knowing that the woman didn't deserve this no matter how much Gary wanted the information from her. She took a step back, holding the blade out and aiming it at Cleo. She is going to throw it into Cleo's wing as if this is target practice with throwing a blade. Though, there is a twist. She pulled her arm back and took a deep breath, knowing what the consequences could be next. Just as she started to move her arm forward, her arm changed direction towards Gary. The blade left her hand and went flying towards him, having it get buried deep into his shoulder. "Damn. Here I thought you were actually going to hurt my beloved Cleo." Lucifer said from the darkness. She jumped but turned around and faced him as he stepped into the light. He glanced at Cleo, his heart clenching at the state that she is in. His gaze flickered to Gary, a murderous look in his eyes. As fast as lightening, he pulled a gun from the waistband of his jeans and pointed it at Gary. "Lucifer, that-" She was cut off before she could say it isn't going to harm Gary. "This is specially made. Not even Cleo knew about it. I had the weapons that could hurt us melted and crafted into bullets." The barrel of the gun is pointed at his chest. His finger hovering over the trigger. He will harm the man but he will definitely be taking him home and torturing him until he begs him to kill him. Even then he will have his fun afterwards just a bit longer. "Just one of these bullets to the heart will end your life. I suggest you don't move if you like to live. Kate, get the keys and help Cleo." She nodded before moving towards the table that Gary set the keys on.

Gary growled in pain as the blade sunk into his shoulder. He turned towards her with a murderous gaze only pausing when he saw Lucifer standing with a gun pointed towards him. A sadistic smile formed on his lips as he pulled the blade out and popped his neck. He threw the blade trapping the keys to the wooden table before Katelyn could pick them up. "So sorry to pause the freeing but did I hear you correctly?" He took a couple of steps towards Cleo stopping in front of her. His action was calculated as he had positioned himself to where if Lucifer shot, there was a chance of hitting Cleo. The female lifted her gaze hearing Lucifer's voice, a small smile touched the corners of her mouth before her eyes closed and her head fell forward. Gary not-so-gently pulled one of the needles from Cleo's arm not taking his eyes off of the gun that was pointing at his chest. Cleo's eyes flew open and then closed as she bit her lip suppressing the scream. "I don't think she should sleep during this exchange." His hand then moved to her jaw, holding her head up as her eyes glared daggers at the man. She would have struggled against the chains but between the pain and loss of blood, she was running on adrenaline to keep herself awake. "You do know how to find the beautiful ones Lucifer. I do have to give you that." His eyes drifted towards Katelyn looking her over before slowly going back to Lucifer. "I thought you had closed your heart off Lucifer...I mean even your old flame couldn't distract you long enough it seems. But this one...What made her different?" He looked at Cleo turning her head as if he was inspecting her. "I know she was sent to protect you but even at work you seemed indifferent to her even though you were supposed to be 'married'." Cleo jerked her head away from his hand but the sudden movement jostled her body, making her acutely aware again of all the bits of metal. Her wings were shivering slightly as shock tried to work its way back in. Her eyes looked towards Lucifer almost pleading with him to shoot the man even if it hit her, right now she just wanted to be free. She blinked a few times trying to clear the wavering in her sight. "I will be fine Lucifer." The almost snarky way she said it caused Gary to look at her with surprise turning his attention away from the other two long enough for a distraction.

Katelyn headed towards the keys on the table, but stopped short. She let out a yelp at seeing the knife that she threw into Gary's shoulder trap the keys on the table. She took a step back just in case he had another weapon hidden somewhere on his body and was going to throw it in her direction. She turned towards him, a glare set on her features. As much as she somewhat appreciates his help in trying to hurt Lucifer back, she hates him doing it this way. This makes her hate the man with a burning passion and want to murder the man. That is a first simce she isn't one to want to kill someone. Sure, she wanted to hurt Lucifer for hurting her, but she didn't want to kill him like she wanted to kill Gary. It is two totally different things. She will have to think of something else to get Cleo out of here, even if it means her getting killed in the process. Lucifer only narrowed his eyes when Gary asked him the question if he hears him right. There is no way he is going to be repeating himself. He is happy that he is right about having a bad feeling about this man. He should've looked more into Gary before things led to this. Same thing went with Kate, but he didn't think she would do something like this as it isn't something she would do. Then again, she isn't since she ended up turning against Gary instead of hurting Cleo. He has to admit, he is surprised as he knew she hates him for what he did but he didn't think she would actually help Cleo out. He has to give her kudos for that as he doesn't think he would be able to turn like that if he hates someone as much as he hates the man who took Selene's wings from her. As Gary moved to stand in front of Cleo, the barrel of his gun followed the man. Sure, if he shot and Gary moved, it could potientally kill Cleo. Anxiety rushed through his body at that, but he didn't show it whatsoever. He just pretended that he doesn't give a care in the world if he pulled the trigger and it hit Cleo. Of course, he knew that Kate would know that he is anxious about this, but she wouldn't say a word. She knew to never try to step in between him and his enemy, unless she wishes to get killed in the process as well. Even if she hated him torturing and doing other bad shit, she always stayed out of it no matter how much she wished to try and step in to help the other poor person out. This would be no different. His grip on his gun tightened when Gary jerked a needle out of Cleo. Even then he barely even moved, staying as still as stone as he gazed at the man hurting the woman that he cares about. He said nothing about picking the pretties ones. "It's about their personality, their loyalty, their caring, and the humor that matters. Looks have nothing to do with it. For me, it is a plus if they look as beautiful as these two lovely women." He explained slowly, his stone cold face still not giving an ounce of emotion. What he said is the truth though. For him, looks don't matter. It is what is on the inside that counts. What Cleo has, it just attracts him for some reason. Besides, he doesn't have to give the man the whole reason either. While they talked, Katelyn slowly moved to the table with the keys and weapons. She grabbed a knife off the table and slipped it up her sleeve, grateful that Gary is distracted with Lucifer. She stepped back to her previous place to not have Gary wonder why she moved and try to figure out what she is planning. At hearing Lucifer's words about what he said in regards of Gary's question about what makes Cleo different but that they are both beautiful caught her by surprise. Sure, she knew that he fell for her for her and not her looks, but she is surprised he said that after what he has done to both him and Cleo. Perhaps trying to get back at Lucifer is something she shouldn't have done. At hearing Cleos words, both her and Lucider tensed. He didn't like that she thought that and Kate didn't think it was a good idea. She glanced in Lucifer's direction, seeing his hand shake for a second before it stopped. He is nervous. Finally, he looked at her. She gave him a soft smile, her gaze flickering to the two before going back to him. He seemed conflicted, knowing what she is thinking in that brain of hers. Do it. I will be fine, she mouthed to him, even though she knows she might not be. He nodded his head, which caused her to spring into action as he pulled the trigger. She put herself in between Gary and Cleo, willing to take the hit if Gary moves out of the way at the last second. They both knew the consequences but did it anyways as they both want Gary dead and, to her surprise, want Cleo alive and safe.

The sound of the gunshot rang through Cleo's ears and she instinctively closed her eyes waiting for the impact. Though that feeling never came even as she waited a few more moments before slowly opening her eyes. Gary had not been expecting Kate to run at him and he had turned to face the oncoming woman, surprise written plainly in his features. Of course it had created enough of a distraction that he hadn't moved out of the way of the bullet as he had at first intended. His eyes widened for a few moments as the realization of his grave mistake hit him as the bullet entered his side. He fell to his knees looking between the three others about to mutter a curse on Kate but it was quickly swallowed in his throat as his life left his body. He slumped over onto the cement floor still staring in disbelief as his blood pooled beneath him from his wound. Cleo's eyes watched as he fell, relief flooding her system as she looked back up to Lucifer and a soft smile filled her features before she shifted, quickly shutting her eyes. "Can I please get down from here? I have lost all feeling in my hands and feet. Now how I know how some of our enemies feel when we chain them up like this...not the hanging is a nice reprieve from actually having to hold onto anything." A small laugh left her frame before she continued speaking. "It looks like I am all hung up on you." Of course she had to say another pickup line. How could she not when it was blatantly obvious that the door was open. Even though she was weak, exhausted, and most like delirious, she couldn't help herself. Her eyes moved over to Kate and a silent thank you was in her eyes even if she didn't want to fully admit to it just yet. There were still reservations about the woman that had helped capture her and then seemingly change to help Lucifer and herself. She shifted again, this time using more of her battered wings to help try and gain some feeling. Which was a stupid idea as pain flooded through her hand at the renewal of blood flow to her extremities. "Nope, just going to hang here. Not worth trying to relieve it. Everything just hurts." Even with her being battered, bruised, and pierced, she was still trying to joke mainly as a way to stay awake just a few moments longer. (Sorry if it is short.)
