Instantly, Sloane frowned, and any trace of passiveness on her face was replaced with annoyance and anger, "You absolute asshole. I wasn't being sarcastic, jealous, or annoyed. Not everything is about you."

Bulla, who was perched on Sloane's shoulder, frowned at Kanu, "She was actually going to say you did a good job," the bubble dragon muttered softly.

"You know what? Forget it. We should stick around for a few days to not look guilty, and then, I never have to see you again. I can't fucking wait," Sloane snapped, her eyes sharp.

Sloane's reaction was definitely unprecedented, and Kanu hadn't been expecting it. The smile on his face slid off and he stared at Sloane with surprise.He'd thought she would be used to his teasing humor by now, and wouldn't take take it personally. Apparently not, as Sloane was definitely mad, pissed even. Kanu didn't know what to say, and stood there, stunned, for a moment. Not knowing how to reply at all.

"I hadn't meant it rudely, sorry, I uh, yea. Sorry," Kanu took a step back. He hadn't meant to upset Sloane at all, just tease a little. "And thank you for what you did," he jerked his head to the castle, "I'll leave soon." Kanu's wings fluttered uncomfortably and the poison in his veins moved wildly.

Sloane rolled her eyes, "Whatever," she scoffed, brushing past Kanu. She was going to get changed into some of her own clothes where she had been staying, then relax there until Shoter's sister took the throne, and they were free to go. Sloane was done with the annoying human world, and fed up with the asshole prince of hell she had the unfortune to meet.

Kanu practically jumped out of his skin when Sloane brushed past. She seemed so angry, he'd only been joking, he hadn't meant to make her upset. He supposed that his humor just really wasn't for everyone. A soft sigh escaped his lips and he ran a hand through his hair. He decided that despite the fact that he'd been gone for a day or two already, he wanted to stay out of the stuffy palace. He wanted to be free for a little longer, without the advisers on his back.

So Kanu took off, flying as far and as high as he wanted to.

Kanu wanted to rip out his eyes.

Over the past month, Kanu had been forced to stay inside the palace 'for his own safety.' After the attempt on his life, the advisers had decided that in order to keep Kanu safe, they needed to trap him inside the palace. Basically, they made Kanu's life even more hellish than it already was, he wasn't even given anything to drink to make the days go by. It was the first time he'd ever felt mortal. The days passed by so slowly, and soon Kanu was practically throwing himself at the knights who guarded the palace, begging them, bribing them. Unfortunately, they valued their lives more than money and refused to let him leave. There had been a couple of close calls in which Kanu had gotten to angry he'd almost lost control and went all dragon-y. Lucky for the guards, Rue was always there to calm him down.

His younger sister brought him news from outside the palace. Along with making him flower crowns from the plants in the garden. (Which he happily wore.) Rue kept him company and even managed to sneak him some Fire's Child. The happiness he found with his sister did not last long though, for Set often visited hos son to the absolute delight of Kanu.

Most of the time, the king and heir ended up screaming at each other and one would leave. Rue wouldn't come back after that, as Kanu's anger was just a little to much for his passive sister. Regardless, Kanu couldn't wait to leave, even if it was just to some stupid council meeting. He hadn't gotten the opportunity to stretch his wings in so long, and was happy to know that they'd be flying onto the overworld as a show of power. He didn't want to show off anything, he just wanted to fly.

And soon Kanu was in the air, closely followed by his mother and her light, purple-pink wings. Set was in the lead, flying on the back of a screeching griffin. They were followed by guards of course, demons of all shapes and size, though all of them rode the back of some animal. The only two without an animal to ride were Kanu and the Queen. Which made perfect sense as they did have wings and all. Rue of course, was missing.

The upcoming council meeting was something that Sloane was dreading. First of all, she didn't see much of a point in them - they were boring and normally ended up with the attempted murder of someone. They didn't solve anything. Secondly, Sloane didn't trust Earth's new Queen to not give away that Sloane and Kanu had a part to play in the changing of the Crown. And that brings Sloane to the third point - Kanu. Ugh, he was annoying.
That was about all she had to say on that point of the matter.

When the day did come, the Royals of the Heavens all mounted their steeds, and set off for the meeting grounds.

The current King and Queen are both Elves, as is their son Jydal, who was also Sloane's closest friend. It was Jydal who had stepped down as heir to the throne so he would not have to fight Sloane, even though he was probably the only son who would have had a chance at beating her. The two had been the best of friends, and being fifth in line for the throne, Jydal had never expected to have to become a King. He didn't like the idea of holding that much power, which was also a large part of his decision.

Since the King and Queen no longer had any other children, Jydal was their precious child - their golden boy. They protect him with all that they have, even if Jydal is perfectly capable of taking care of himself.

King Abbadon led the way riding his hippogriff, who he always seemed annoyed at (Sloane believed it was because he wanted to ride a fierce beast, but he was a terrible rider, so the easygoing hippogriff was the creature he had to ride), followed by his Queen, Thana, on her Pegasus, which had a dark black coat, with feathers tipped with emerald green.

Jydal and Sloane rode behind them, side by side, so the two could talk. Sloane rode Gryphem, like always, and Jydal... To Sloane, Jydal was the only person in the group who actually seemed like a "Heavenly" person. He rode on a graceful deer with delicate and beautiful wings, with the sweetest and most loyal temperament ever. Jydal was the only one who could ride her.

The passage tunnel still made Kanu beam and feel like a child, the wave of colors was disorienting to most. Some had even died due to being so caught up in the tunnel's light. Fortunately, Kanu had always been with others, and even now his mother was gripping his hand to keep him with her. It was one of his few flaws. So although he would probably get sucked in by the void eventually, as long as someone was there to keep him on track, he was perfectly fine.

Eventually, the group made it onto Earth, the sun was low in the sky, though it was not completely dark. That was probably why his sister hadn't come, as she hated wasting her plants on herself. Even if she did have an abundance of aloe if anything ever happened.

In the far distance, Kanu spotted the palace, and they grew nearer by the second. He couldn't help but smile at the view, and relish in the distant heat of the sun's rays. His wings beating against the strong wings, and even Set's griffin sturggled slightly against the gusts. Eventually, they set down at the palace, the smile that normally was on Kanu's face disappeared as soon as they touched down. "Keep yourself in check and preferably just don't speak at all," Set's harsh voice whispered into Kanu's ear and it was all he could do not to smack the demon king on his perfect face that he was ever so proud of.

Set and Kanu's mother looked completely different, and Kanu looked like an even mix of the two. He sported his mother's purple eyes, and her fair skin, not the mention the dragon part of him. Kanu's hair was the same, pitch black color as his father's, and he held the same sharp edges. Odile, Kanu's mother, had beautiful golden hair that was stick straight much like Rue's. Her face held softer curves, and her wings were huge and made her look like she was the one with royal blood. Her graceful horns matched her wings.

Set on the other hand, was tan, and had grey ram horns that spiraled from his head. His pitch black hair was long and reached his shoulders. Kanu had never hated someone more. And he hated that he looked so much like his father. Granted, his amazing facial structure was from that man so he supposed he should be a little grateful.

Whatever the reason, Set was pushing Kanu to shut up, and Kanu would. As he did not feel like fighting with his father in front of other people. That didn't mean his mood would improve, and despite his father's words, he released a sharp, unnatural hiss at Set as he moved away from Kanu's face. Kanu already hated the way the day was going.

i chose dark names for the king and queen of the heavens heehehe. just cuz its the Heavens doesnt mean its a heavenly place ;D yay corruption and death and high crime!

The location of the Heavens was in the Mesosphere, with the lowest part being 50 kilometers above Earth (for reference, planes fly around 12 kilometers above the Earth), and is 35 kilometers wide. It is also the coldest layer of the atmosphere going between 0 to -85 degrees Celsius. People that lived in the Heavens were well adjusted to the cold temperatures, thin air, and learning how to dodge meteors, as it is the layer where shooting stars exist.

Since the air was indeed so thin, citizens of the Heavens didn't have to breath, or at least required the bare minimum. They had lungs, but oxygen wasn't necessary to live. This also made them able to survive underwater for extended periods of time, as oxygen wasn't a necessary force to live.

Adjusting to the Earth took many beings a long time, as the temperature was disgustingly mild compared to -85 degrees Celsius, or the 1,500 degree heat of the thermosphere, which was the layer above the mesosphere. Very few individuals ventured up to the heights of the thermosphere, but Sloane had been there multiple times to hunt and explore. If anything, Earth was on the cold side compared to some areas of the sky. The fact that there was also richer amounts of oxygen caused some to feel lightheaded. Most cut off breathing entirely on Earth, as it minimized the hassle.

Sloane made... maybe not frequent visits to the planet's surface, but enough to become used to the temperature and oxygen levels. The people of the Heavens, when meeting with others, never mentioned the environment and situation of their home. They saved it to be a surprise for anyone invading when their animals and them started gasping like fish only a quarter of the way to the Heavens.

Fun times.

As the group dove down on cue, all talking was shut off as the wind whipped by. They would free dive from the point of 85 kilometers in the air, as that was the height the Palace was located, down to 1 or 2 kilometers above Earth's surface. It would take a while, so everyone sat back and relaxed.

Once they arrived, the King took up on the reins again and guided them all (or rather, his hippogriff led them there, and let the King feel important) to the Earth Palace.

As they landed on the far side of the courtyard from the group from the Underworld, Sloane got a sense of deja vu. Only this time, with her and Kanu was an entourage of Royals and guards, and there was no bratty prince making them wait.
Instead, they were met promptly by a lone woman, with her back straight, and hair tucked neatly away. The crown rested on her head like it was always meant to be there. The woman bowed her head as a sign of respect, which was more than Shoter ever did, and straightened up with a genuine smile, "It is wonderful to meet you, esteemed leaders of the the Underworld and Heavens."

Sloane noticed some worry in her eyes, but she didn't try to hide it. She had a reason to be worried - she was surrounded by some hella powerful people who could snap her like a twig, "I am Queen Syndia," The lady wasn't sure if the two leaders were aware of her brother's death, but decided to mention it just in case they didn't, "I am the new leader now, due to the previous King," she purposely didn't use the title Overlord, which was the title he had been pushing on the civilians, "Shoter being a vile and corrupted person. I hope to insure peace between my realm, and both of yours," She looked stern, glancing between the two Kings who were known to be violent, "Please, come inside. Your steeds are free to roam the skies, or some stable hands can watch them."

Kilometers and Celsius? Pft imma need fucking miles and farenheight please. We both know I am not nearly as smart as you lol.))

Kanu's mother came over to stand by him, shooting Set a harsh glare that put him right into his place. The two were almost a sort of balance, as Odile mostly kept a neutral attitude about everything. She was the voice of reason in the Court and kept her husband in check when he needed to be corrected. She never referred to him as her husband, or anything other than Set, she didn't even use the title King for him.

Meanwhile, Set wanted nothing more than to bring people pain and to see himself rich and powerful. This normally would cause the kingdom to become poor, fortunately, Odile managed his money inflow and adjusted things so the kingdom would prosper and not fail. Set longed for the day that he held power over all of the kingdoms, thankfully, Odile made sure that dream remained just that, a dream. If not for Odile's firm hand, the kingdom would either be broke, or the kingdom would die at the hands of the humans and heavenly beings.

Set placed himself to the left of his wife, putting a person between him and his heir. It seemed as though he was just realizing that one of his children were missing, as he looked around for someone, and when he didn't spot whoever it was, he scowled. Although Rue was barely ever at any meetings between the kingdoms, she did attend the important ones, and this one was rather important due to the new ruler of the overworld. Rue's not being there could be taken as disrespect to the human, Set could only hope that Syndia didn't notice, or didn't know, that a child of Hell was missing.

At the new Queen's words, the animals of Hell dispersed, and would come back only when they were called by a whistle on one of the adviser's neck. The animals would hunt and explore the skies, but not venture too far, as although they were tamed, nothing born in the underworld could truly escape the wildness in their hearts. Not even the demons.

"It is a pleasure to finally meet you Queen Syndia, I look forward to seeing what your rule has in store for my people. Ah, do forgive me, I forgot to introduce myself and my dear family," Kanu had to look away to hide his smile. Dear was not a way he would describe his family. "I am King Set, this is my wife, Queen Odile, and my son Kanu." Set's voice was tinged with an accent, as in the underworld, most people spoke Demon and not the common tongue. As such, Kanu's name was harder for his to pronounce properly, as in Demon it was much different. Regardless, Kanu couldn't believe his father's audacity to not use his full title.

He was so, so ready to beat his father's ass.
