(More of a introduction than anything.) Iris woke from another dreamless night, stretching and shaking her fur out. She gazed around the den, noting the other bodies that remained in sleep. The den was one of many small caverns within a cave at the base of a mountain. While they were no longer as big of a pack as they once were, they still managed to survive. More than could be said for the other packs that once roamed. •~• Iris made her way out of the den, stepping over her sleeping packmates and trying to not step on tails. When she finally got out to the main cavern she let out a sigh of relief. It wasn't massive, but still bigger than the den. On the far right was another hole, smaller, that held mothers and their pups along with the older wolves. And near the center was the last cave that served as the pack Alphas space. No one was allowed in there unless summoned. •~• She headed for the exit, and out onto pine forest that surrounded the mountain base, taking a moment to breath in the fresh air. It wasn't time for any hunting parties to go out just yet, the sun was only beginning to rise, but she wanted to get something for Maya's newest litter. Especially if they began discovering their powers early like the last litter did. Which ended with one of the Elders fur half burned off when a pup found fire to be fun. •~• She paused to check the enchanted runes carved into the trees around the entrance, before she headed deeper into the forest. Nose to the ground to pick up any prey scent trail. (Next post will be better :,) My energy is still low.) |

The chilly morning air hit his lungs like a freight train as he took a breath. The smell of damp leaves and pine needles filling his nose -------------------- Crimson droplet soiled the ground as blood dripped down his chin, jaws clamping just a bit tighter onto a mangled fox pup. Food is life.Even if its something that should've lived. He had no time to feel bad just for feeding himself. Yet a small part of him ached at its death. He had tried to make it quick ---------------------- The birds cheerful songs filled the silence, along with the crackling of leaves under his weight. "The trees look beautiful at this time of day" His mind practically screamed as he admired the forest. Sometimes he felt a bit sad at how bare this world was. He felt selfish for enjoying it. As many have died before learning to enjoy it fully ------------------------ (Sorry, I suck at this, lol. I didnt wanna take too long :3) |

Iris made her way through the forest, crouched low as she followed the scent of a rabbit. Careful to avoid snapping twigs or moving to fast, anything to give her position away. She halted, pressing low to the ground until her belly fur was touching the forest ground. Ignoring the dew that soaked into her fur. There, just a few feet away the rabbit sat. Unaware, munching away on some grass. She crawled forward a few steps, shifted her weight, and pounced. She didn't give the creature any time. A quick bite of it's neck and a shake of her head and it was dead. •~• Just enough for Maya and her litter. She'll come back out later with a actual hunting patrol. Preferably when it was a little warmer. Iris shook her fur to dislodge some of the forest debris that had gathered and began making her way back to the cave. She padded through a clump of bushes and paused, ears flicking slightly. A crunch of leaves, prey? She sat her rabbit down and sniffed. Blood. But could it just be from her recent kill? No, there was another scent. Another wolf, in her pack's forest. •~• Rogues weren't uncommon, not with so many packs having split apart at the loss of their magic, the chaos. Or could it be a wolf apart of a pack still, like her own that managed to keep itself together? Iris picked her rabbit back up and made her way towards the scent. Keeping her pawsteps careful and quiet. She let a trickle of her power flow, careful to not to let out to much. The pack had learned in a unfortunate accident while they had somehow kept their magic, it wasn't as stable as it once was. •~• Her power allowed her to see through the eyes of other creatures. Nothing to large, otherwise that bordered on to much, but a bird or squirrel would work. Problem was finding one that was where she needed it to be. Iris paused, not wanting to go further in case she gave herself away. She looked around and there, a tiny red bird sat on a branch a few trees ahead. She focused on the bird and her power, and soon she saw what it saw. •~• She was right, another wolf. A fox pup in it's jaws, looked like a recent kill. A lanky thing, but she couldn't see well enough if that was because they were starving or not. Quite the coloring, with a base of dark grey and white markings throughout. Not a wolf she recognized, and she's seen quite a few rogues pass. Iris left the bird's view, coming back to herself, and left quickly. As annoying as it was to have another wolf hunting on their pack lands, they weren't known. And she'd keep it that way by not engaging. They'll pass on, and the enchantments by the cave will keep them from getting too close anyways. •~• (Your good lol I take some time myself.) |

He crunched on his rabbit, settling dlwn near the base of a pine tree, ripping the flesh off of the poor things spine, licking his chops -------- The hairs on his back suddenly stood up, a strange feeling swelling in the pit of his stomach. He felt as if he was being watched, looking around wearily. Nothing. He was probably just dehydrated, as his head throbbed a bit. Time to find some water ------ He sniffed at the air, the musky scent of squirrels, and the sharp smell of tree bark. Nothing unusual that stuck out. Though an unidentifiable scent lingered underneath thw scwnts of everything else. He didnt think much of it ----- He steadied into a soft trot, leaping over a log in his way. A pleasing feeling energized him as he made it over it. He actually quite enjoyed this. He lowered his snout over a spring, peering through the ripples of the water. A crawdad. Scurrying along the pebbles under the water, claws clicking at alagae snagged between a bramble and a rock. How cute. ----- He lapped up the water pooling in a particular spot, blood painting the creek a whiskey red, soon dissapearing as the current pushed it along. ----- |

When Iris made it back to the cave, she paused at the treeline. Looking over her shoulder to make sure she wasn't followed, especially after seeing that stranger. She saw nor smelled anything. 'Good. Sooner trespassers leave, safer our home will be.' She thought to herself. Feeling satisfied, she passed the barrier and headed into the cave. The main cavern was brighter then before, with the rising sunlight streaming through the entrance. And it was more filled now as other wolves awoke. In total, they were a pack with about Nine adults, Three adolescents, and a few small litters of pups. Survival rate for pups had lowered since the change in magic, at least for them. Not all the pups born were able to hold the their power when they got it. •~• Iris dodged around two of the adolescents messing around. One flicking water with their paw, and the other trying to zap the droplets with electricity. 'Not the best combination idea.' She thought. A older male with a dark brown coat, light blue eyes came and told them off for using magic in the cavern. She was slightly amused at the young wolves faces at that. She left quickly, and didn't hear the rest of the conversation as she headed to deliver her rabbit. Though she wouldn't be surprised if it involved some under the breath curses. She walked into the cave to the right, over to a she-wolf who was curled up with two pups climbing over her. 'Energetic little things.' She thought fondly. They were messing up their mother's short pink-ish red fur. As she stopped, Maya lifted her head. •~• "Hey Maya. Thought you could use something sooner then when the patrols go out." •~• Iris said after she sat the rabbit down, nudging it towards the mother with a paw. The two pups paused in their game to investigate the carcass. The slightly bigger one, a male with a light grey almost white coat and light blue eyes, shoved his nose into the carcass. His brother who had a more red coat but grey stripes on his legs and same eyes, did the same. She met Maya's brown eyed gaze, who gave a nod of thanks. •~• "Thank you, Iris. These two haven't calmed down once this morning. Hopefully this will keep them occupied long enough." •~• Iris gave a small huff of understanding then left the cave, not wanting to intrude on the mother wolf getting a possible much needed nap. Back in the main section she headed for a small hunting patrol, about three other wolves, that was gathering by the entrance. Bounding over she paused infront of the leader, a male with a pale, sand looking pelt with light brown speckle like markings throughout his fur. The two others were both younger wolves, only recently out of adolescence. One with a pure black coat and the other with a more light brown. •~• "Hey Scout, I'll join you guys. There was a rogue when I went out earlier, so we'll need a to keep a eye out." One of the youngers, perked up, tail wagging slightly. But Scout spoke before they could. "Alright, let's go then. Keep your eyes open but stay hidden, don't engage unless needed." •~• With that decided and the added reminder to the two young wolves, the group headed out. |

Sköll sniffed around the forest, feeling resfreshed after his visit to the spring. He wanted to know more about this forest. It somehow seemed... Different. Though, he couldnt place why. ------------- Crunch ------------ He tensed, turning to the sound of crumpling leaves, braced for another fight. Only to be surprised to see... A deer. With A fawn. 'Huh, this forest sure had alot of life hidden within it'. He decided not to bother them, as he had just eaten--- And layed down low to watch them. 'Maybe more will join them' He thought. ------------- He sat there for quite a while, surprised the deer had remained in the same place for this long. Maybe it was his lucky day. He let out a gentle sigh, and stretched one of his legs out into a more comfortable position. 'This forest would make a good home'. His mind urged him. Loud and very hard to ignore. -------------- He grumbled, resting his head down on the ground, eyes flicking to a bird sat on the branch of a pinetree. He knew it was impossible. 'Home'. It sounded delusional. It was only a matter of time before he had to move. |

She trailed behind the patrol, eyes scanning the forest around them. While the others focused on finding big prey, she kept a eye out for anything else. The sun, now nearly highest in the sky, poked through pine trees and warmed the forest floor. Drying it from the earlier morning dew. The faint breeze carried the scent of other animals and pine. 'I don't smell another wolf yet. Maybe the rogue left already?' She thought, flicking her ear. A bit after they left home, the one with a light brown coat, Bear, caught the trail of a doe. She and Scout silently agreed to hang back and let the two younger wolves deal with the kill. •~• Once the two had the deer down Iris and Scout headed over to them. 'Messy, but it'll do.' She thought. "I picked up another scent too! Off that way, it doesn't smell like prey." The one with the black coat, Willow, exclaimed, excitement clear in their tone. Iris looked at Scout, who tilted his head back. She knew he was focusing his power, the ability sense even more with the help of the wind. "You think-" She began, and Scout nodded. "Most likely. Male, feels content. We should check. Quietly." •~• She nodded at Scout's last words. A hint of confusion swirled in her mind. 'Why is this rogue still here? He should've moved on by now. All the other ones did by now.' She shook her head and after deciding the Willow will stay with the kill and watch it, followed the other two. Scout paused suddenly after a few minutes, crouching low. "Right there, beyond these bushes. I'm keeping the wind flowing our way so our scents won't carry. But I can't hold it long." Scout whispered. Bear crawled up besides him, and she followed to Bear's otherside. "Shouldn't the enchantments, even this far out, have began affecting him? Made him feel like hurrying to move on?" Bear questioned, making a confused face as they looked between the two older wolves. "Yes, they should've. Maybe we should try and chase him out? A small group might seem like another temporary rogue group." She answered, and shared a look with Scout. •~• Before they could think more on it, Bear shifted position and snapped three different twigs. All three of them stiffened and she shot Bear a warning look. They better hope that didn't give them away. As all three backed up slightly. 'Just great.' •~• |

His ear twitched as he heard the sudden noise, muscles stiffening as he spotted them ---- Panic filled up his chest, and it felt like he couldnt breathe. But some part of him was surprised, and amazed to see an actual pack. To know one even existed. Its the only one hes seen since.... His thoughts trailed off as a bitter memory clamped onto his consciousness, adrenaline making it easier just to forget for now, and just focus on the issue at hand. ---- His eyes flicked between them. Four. They could easily tear him to shreds. He had no chance of fighting back if they attacked him. His mind jumled between running, and trying to make peace. If it was one or two, itd be worth it. But four? Hed be dead in a matter of seconds if he stuck around. Or got caught. He was quite the runner. He could outrun them. But hed have to run for his life. Literally. ---- He kicked his feet off the ground and bolted. The chase was on. He pushed his strides until they were as long as they could get, each bound violently shaking his vision. He had no idea how fast they were. So he ran faster than hed ever run before, leaping over the obstacles in his way, and spiraling between the trees in an attempt to make sure they couldnt follow. He didn't want to die. Not to the jaws of anyone but his own |

All three wolves snapped towards the fleeing rogue. Iris hesitated for a moment, before she took off in pursuit. Not all out running yet, no. "Should we just chase him off? He seems to already be doing the work for us." Bear said, running on her other side. Iris was inclined to agree, but she was a little curious. 'I understand times changed and a these days other wolves aren't always the nicest. But why did he react so suddenly?' She questioned to herself, but Scout saying something snapped her back. "No. We need to know why he stayed so long, the enchaments should've made him leave awhile ago after he got enough to move on. This rogue was laying around instead. What if he's apart of some dysfunctional group and thinks this is a good place for them all to temporary settle?" Scout answered. Oh, she hadn't thought about that. She had assumed this rogue was all. But maybe he could be some group, however untrustworthy. •~• "We can figure out the rest. If it's really that bad we'll find some way to keep this place secret. Maybe have Steel wipe his mind or something. But first we need to catch him." She said, and the other two gave quick woofs of agreement. Bear veered off left, and Scout went right to try and corner the rogue. She continued running forward, picking up speed as her companions disappeared. Her eyes locking onto the unfamiliar light grey pelt twisting around trees and jumping over logs and rocks. 'He's pretty fast, I'll give him that.' She admitted to herself. Jumping over half a dead fallen pine tree, ignoring the needles that scrapped her paws. •~• Iris gained ground, but desperation fueled the other wolf's adrenaline she noticed. And she was starting to feel desperate herself to catch him. She looked to her right and saw Scout hanging back a bit, likely a little exhausted from using his power earlier. But a flash of brown to her left caught her eye and she saw Bear speeding up too. Iris put on a last burst of speed, barreling into the rogue's side, scrambling for a hold. |

He tumbled onto the ground, startled as she slammed into his side like a truck slammed into a deer. God damnit He was never good at taking a hit. In fights, he relied on speed and agility to defeat his opponents before they managed to knock him down. Today was very different. He yelped as she managed to catch him, pinning him down with no room to escape, the firm hold of hers making it nearly impossible to break free. She was way stronger than him, at the very least. He wasn't quite built for strength. He growled and snapped his jaws at her panickedly, the sharp 'click' of his teeth echoing against the trees. They had caught him. If they decided he deserved death, he would be no more than a meal. But he prayed for best, as lucky for him, they didn't look so desperate or hungry to try that. His only worry was territory. He had come barging onto their lands, and somehow managed to get caught. If they hadnt caught him he'd be out of there faster than they could run. But that was a different story. He didn't have time to worry about the what-ifs. He had to make sure they weren't going to shred him to pieces. That fear was the only logic his mind could cling onto, stuck onto that thought of violence, as he had grown quite used to it throughout his time away from his pack.... He shook off the thought. Why does his mind keep tormenting him with that? No matter. He needed to focus. His eyes flicked between the wolf trapping him, and the other three gathering up. He hoped this goes well. |
