Cinderfoot had woken when the sun was high. He had spent the night on a patrol since a few cats say signs a badger was close to the camp. A bit to close for the leaders liking. So he was sent on the night patrol and didn't find a thing. Even though it was quite boring, he found peace in the solitude of the night. With a soft sign, he stretched his legs out before slowly walking out of the warriors burrow, his tail sweeping the ground below him. He was unusually tired for having slept as long as he did. But then again, that's always the toll that the night patrol takes on cats. Feeling his stomach growl, Cinderfoot padded to the kill pile. He searched through the carcasses of successfully hunted prey, looking for something that seems appetizing. Eventually, at the bottom of the pile, he found a nice, plump mouse. Perfect. With a smile on his maw, he picked up the prey, trotting to the middle of the clearing to catch some of the sun's rays while he ate. He laid down carefully, his tail curled to his side. The Tom tore into flesh and blood, snapping bones and enjoying his meal. Nothing can ruin this moment. He thought as he ate.
Cinderfoot's ears suddenly twitched at the sound of someone walking up to him. Turning his head, blood dripping from his maw as he looked up at Thornstar, his leader. He quickly swallowed what was in his mouth before forcing his body into a sitting position. "H-Hey Thornstar! How's your morning going?" He asked, hoping the leader didn't come to bring him bad news, more chores or was made at him for a recent prank. "Did you see anything on your patrol?" The leader asked sternly. That was it? Cinderfoot thought as he shook his head. "No. I didn't find anything. Not even a paw print. Are you sure the others found badger tracks? Maybe it was from a rabbit. Or squirl." The Black pawed Tom answered, finding the others to be seeing things or simply just anxious. Oakfall was on that patrol and he has been on edge ever since his mate has had trouble with her pregnancy.
Thornstar sighed heavily, turning to walk away. "We can never be to sure. Make sure you warn the others to be careful on there patrols. We don't need anyone else dieing to a badger." Cinderfoot's eyes widened at the leaders words. He made eye contact with Thornstar for a moment. The other had a look of sympathy. Cinderfoot found his ears lowering. The leader had refured to the insident that has taken his brother, Archsight. He and his brother where close. Closer then he was with any of his litter mates. When he heard the news of his brothers death, he wasn't his usual self for moons. Just recently he had started to get over it. Shaking his head, Cinderfoot chose to not fall down that rabbit hole again. He quickly ran off to warn everyone to be careful on patrols and be aware of a badger lurking in the territory.
