The contract itself would sound a bit stricter than Selene did. Although Charlie might not spend his time with important business people, he could still gain attention from just being her husband. The fact that he came from a prestigious family as well would make that worse, but so long he knew to might himself in front of cameras, everything would be fine. She didn't think Charlie would have any issues with that so long everything else was pretty much free rein. She didn't care what he did, so long he left her alone apart from their shared events. She smiled faintly as she listened to him gush about how delightful it would be to not have a leash. She also knew it must have worried his parents for her to say such a thing, but she didn't care.

“There will still be rules, but they aren't extravagant, I assure you. We can talk about said rules and social norms later when we have time to ourselves,” she told him as she brushed some hair from her face. She didn't want his parents present when she went over their rules. They'd be loose, and she didn't want them intervening in what she was comfortable with. She didn't mind warnings and such, but Selene could very much see that Charlie was very free-spirited and that they were rather controlling over his actions. Regardless, she chuckled when he claimed that he'd think of her before doing anything crazy. She appreciated it and hoped that he really would. To embarrass her would be... Not fun.

Selene couldn't help the full smirk that crossed her lips as Charlie had indeed sounded lovestruck— How adorable. She didn't comment, however, her attention drawn the slight bump beneath the table. Couldn't they just reprimand him openly? It wasn't as if Andreas's actions were a secret from her. Sighing, she chose not to comment on that either. It wasn't as if she cared, and it would seem that Charlie wouldn't have to worry about them for much longer. “Mmh. Unfortunately it is whole world of stuck up 'important' people,” she agreed, knowing that there would be plenty of times she'd have to talk with such people and tamp out her own attitude for the sake of everyone's well being. She hated social events. They stressed her out and made her nervous. People always stared and whispered when they saw her walking by. Gossip and rumors flew around such events, and it was disgusting, truly. Selene detested anyone who couldn't tell her their thoughts and opinions to her face.

At Charlie's next question, she found her own nose attempting to crinkle up. She resisted that urge and nodded, biting at the inside of her cheek as she decided how to word her answer. “Unfortunately, yes. It'll be no strings attached, of course, but to avoid bad press from the media, this will need to look real. So, if that means a kiss or two and hands held, then so be it. I know it's not a very desirable part of this arrangement, but it won't need to occur often,” she told him, rather unfazed by the idea. So what if she needed to kiss him a time or two? It was a kiss, not the end of the world. She had kissed people before and it wasn't so bad, and as long as he didn't have sweaty hands all the time she'd be alright. “It's just all a game for the cameras, honestly. Outside that, we don't even have to talk for all I truly care. You can do your thing and I'll do mine until the next time we have to make an appearance,” she told him, hoping it would be just as easy as she thought.

Charlie nodded half-heartedly as Selene added that they would discuss further rules alone. Eh, he shouldn't have gotten his hopes up that he would be as free as Selene had first said. Oh well, he was still getting away from his parents, and that was the important part. What really caught the young man off guard was when the woman infront of him broke out into an actual smirk. It was the most emotion he had seen from her since meeting! He couldn't help but stare at her for a moment, his jaw slack for a few seconds before a smirk of his own appeared on his lips. She was more interesting than he had previously thought. Maybe there were other good points to this marriage besides just getting away from his parents. "You should smile genuinely more often." Charlie commented before listening to Selene's answer to his previous question.
.
Charlie's earlier enthusiasm was quickly replaced as his fate was handed to him. His brows furrowed, and he fought the urge to pretend to gag. He didn't want to offend Selene, afterall, and make her think his disgust was with her. No, it was just the fact that he would have to do such intimate things when he didn't even believe in love, let alone like anyone. Then again, he supposed there was worse people out there to kiss. I mean, atleast Selene was kinda interesting, and... um, by wordly standards, Charlie was pretty sure people would call Selene beautiful, gorgeous even. Atleast he didn't have to kiss someone who everyone thought was ugly. Not that he cared about the amount of beauty a person held, of course. It would just be nice... that he got to experience something other people consider attractive. Yeah, that was it! And anyway, atleast it wouldn't have to occur often. The only thing was... Charlie didn't even know how to kiss.
.
Charlie sighed, holding his hands behind his head. "Well, I mean, obviously the kissing thing is going to be weird, but... I wouldn't mind talking to you once in a while. You're actually kind of interesting, as far as business people go." Charlie than gave Selene the biggest smile he could muster in the moment. "Besides, it would be awkward not talking to my glorified roommate when I'm gonna be seeing her every evening." Without warning, Charlie jumped out of his chair, letting it topple over and onto the ground. "Hey, let's ditch my parents. I think they've monitored us long enough, how about you?" As soon as the words left his mouth, Charlie grabbed Selene's hand and took off. He was careful not to let her fall, but he traveled as fast as he could to his destination - the front door. By the time he reached said door, he was breathing heavily - more from excitement than anything eles - as he turned back toward Selene.
.
Charlie couldn't help but giggle as he took in the woman's expression. "So, where should we go? Do you have a favorite place we could chill at or a restaurant we could get some actually good food at? I'll pay! Because I am not eating those stupid mushrooms ever again. That's my only rule. No gross mushrooms." Distantly, the young man could hear his parents shouting at him, but he couldn't have cared less. His eyes sparkled with barely restrained enthusiasm. Sure, he barely knew this woman, but something about her made him want to do crazy things. It was a weird feeling, but Charlie was never one to shy away from doing reckless things. However, just as his breathing began to slow, he realized he was still holding onto Selene. He quickly let go, a flash of something unreadable crossing his face before he promptly turned to the door, all but throwing it open as he headed outside.

Selene refrained from giving a surprised look when he told her she should smile more often. Her finger tips had brushed the corner of her lips, feeling the curve that had momentarily captured them. She might've given him another smile then had it not been for the progression of their conversation. It wasn't often at all that she smiled or even cracked a smirk, but Charlie was turning out to be quite the card. He was entertaining and his reactions were rather funny. Being married to him might not even be that bad, eventually. Maybe they could even be friends one day, if she could figure out how to be a friend to someone. It wasn't hard to like Charlie so far, so she was sure she could figure it out when given time. Who would have thought? A prestigious business woman didn't even know how to make a simple friend.

Selene nodded in agreement when he mentioned the whole kissing thing being weird. It would be awkward, but perhaps they could.. practice? To ease the weirdness of the situation later on. She doubted it would ever be comfortable, but it could at least be familiar. She didn't mind the idea of kissing him, though. He was a bit rambunctious, but she did at least find him to be attractive. That would certainly make a simple kiss or two easier to stomach. She had been about to respond to assure him she'd be fine with actually talking when he suddenly stood up, declaring they should leave. She made a surprised and startled noise, her hand wrapped around his as he began to lead her away from the table and his shocked parents. She had been careful not to fall, but also mindful to follow him fast enough that his parents wouldn't catch up to them easily.

Her hand was wrapped securely with his, her eyes wide and expression shocked as they came to a stop, her chest heaving much like his. Good lord, she hadn't expected that! She couldn't say that she detested it either, though. In fact, his giggles had caused another smile to appear across her lips, a soft giggle of her own slipping out. “Alright, no more mushrooms~ I don't like them anyways. And I know just the place to go,” she admitted, already having a place in mind that they could go to. His parents shouting behind them should have been a wake up call to return to dinner, but that sparkle in Charlie's eyes captivated her, convincing her that a night together doing as they pleased would be exactly what they needed.

As he let go of her hand, Selene cleared her throat, rubbing the back of her neck with that same hand. Ah, it would seem that holding hands has already happened to some extent. Selene followed him out the door, closing it with a bump of her heel as she bound up next to him, her shoes crunching in the gravel. “There's a bar and grill restaurant not far from here. Has burgers, fries, chicken tenders, and whatever else comfort food I'm sure you could think of,” she told him, hints of excitement creeping into her tone as she gestured towards her car. She'd even drive them there. “Best of all, no overbearing parents and no expectations,” she added after a moment, pausing at the driver's side door as she opened it. Selene was never a spontaneous person, but it would seem that Charlie would be the one to bring it out in her with his curious little ways.

Charlie grinned back at Selene as he heard the faintest of giggles escape her lips. It was fun, drawing reactions from a woman he suspected showed little emotion to most people. He wondered briefly if she would allow herself to react in such ways out in public, or if he would only get these little joys in the privacy of their future home. Either way, Charlie was already determined to make sure he would bring joy into Selene's life, mostly because he loved seeing people happy. But seeing Selene happy... it was extra special, despite only knowing her for not even an hour yet. Perhaps because she was his savior of sorts, giving him a way out of his parents control. Or maybe because seeing someone so normally reserved open up a bit was new and thrilling for the young man. Whatever the case, Charlie was grateful to hear that she as well did not like mushrooms. This meant they had a little bit of common ground, and considering they would be spending the rest of their lives together, small things in common would be the foundation of the new life they were going to make together.
.
Charlie glanced over with a smile as Selene almost cheerfully matched his pace. Ah, she was cute- The young man quickly bit down on his lip, forcing the thought out of his mind. No, she was just interesting, that was it. She would be good entertainment, sure, but nothing eles was going to happen. Besides, he was certain Selene had no interest in him, just like he had no interest beyond friendship for her. He wasn't even sure she wanted to be friends anyway. Still, the young man couldn't help but listen to the woman with rapt attention, his gaze subconsciously locking onto her face, not even registering her gesture to her car. "Mmm, sounds like an awesome choice. I always liked grilled stuff! It's like, the only good memory I have with my dad. The one time he actually had a day off he got out his grill and cooked us dinner. I was really small then. Only about six. It's still clear as day in my mind though." Charlie shared casually, deciding to open up a bit.
.
However, just as the young man was about to respond to Selene again, he suddenly came face to face with a hard surface. Or rather, he came knee to the steel of Selene's car. He was at just the right angle and position to run into the front of the woman's car, practically falling onto the car's hood as pain shot through his leg. "Crap!" Charlie practically shrieked as his face arrived inches from the hood, barely being able to catch himself. Just as quickly as the pain had come, it immediately melted into embarrassment. He shot back up into a standing position, wincing as his knee protested. "U- um, haha, there was a... mosquito. I... um... smacked it though. It's gone." Charlie sputtered awkwardly, his cheeks burning with embarrassment as he looked away. Swallowing hard, the young man could hardly hear his own thoughts over his pounding heartbeat. What the heck was wrong with him today? Why couldn't he just laugh this little incident off like he usually does? Why does he feel so... ashamed?
.
With a sigh, Charlie stiffly walks around the car this time, quietly climbing into the passenger side. His knee throbs with pain, but the thing that hurts more is his ego. The fact he doesn't understand why this even bruises his ego in the first place makes everything hurt worse. He's done alot of stupid things infront of people before, but the fact that Selene was there to see it subconsciously kills him inside. Still, he does his best to put his emotional pain to the side for right now, instead turning to Selene with a smile as she enters the car as well. "So, do you have any jealous ex'es I should know about who'll come after me once we get married?" Charlie teased, desperately trying to make Selene forget about what she had just witnessed. "I mean, I'll obviously be able to deal with 'em no problem, no matter how many there are, but it would be nice to know how many I'll be teaching manners to." The young man added as he buckled himself in.

Typically, Selene despised unpredictability, but Charlie sent waves of excitement through her that she'd never felt before. She felt.. happy. When was the last time she had been actually happy or done anything for herself aside from work? She couldn't even name a time before then... Leaving with Charlie would be the most excitement that she'd had in years. She had dreaded a stranger invading her home and personal space, but perhaps, just perhaps she could tolerate this flickering flame that had made her smile and even laugh within only a matter of moments. How could she not be pleased? He was positively adorable, and the way he treated her, well... He made her feel like a person rather than a machine, and Selene loved that.

Despite her promise to herself for no attachments, she already viewed Charlie as a delightful addition to her life. Though she knew they'd never truly be husband and wife and that no romance would come between them, perhaps she could handle being friends. He might have to teach her the meaning of it, but it was indeed possible. "Sounds much like me and my mother, the far and few in between memories," she chuckled dryly, shaking her head. She and her mother hadn't sat civilally through an outing in years. They argue nearly everytime that they are together too. Nothing that Selene ever does could be good enough for her, and she wouldn't be surprised if the woman would decide that not even marrying a man from a pristegious family would be good enough. She'd probably say that Selene could have done better or that she should have waited to allow suitors to come to her again. But it was enough thinking of that. She didn't want to risk fouling her mood now that she was actually having a good time with Charlie.

Then, the young man did yet another thing to cause her surprise. She looked at him silently, an eyebrow twitching upwards no matter how hard she tried to keep a straight face. Good heavens, could the silly thing get any cuter? Cute? Adorable? She seriously had to stop with such affectionate terms before she got herself into trouble. She watched as he straightened himself and tried to blame his actions upon a mosquito, her expression softening into something sweeter as she offered a small smile. "Of course.. A mosquito," she nodded, her tone not teasing nor scrutinizing. To save him from even more embarrassment, she'd be happy to agree that it was naught but a wee little blood sucking bug. She simply smiled and looked away, sitting down into the driver's seat of their get-away vehicle.

Why did she care to save him from embarrassment? Why did she care to give in to the escape from his parents when she knew her own would be outraged when they heard about their antics? She wasn't sure, but all Selene knew when she looked at him there in the passenger seat was that for once, she was happy and doing something for herself. She snorted when he asked if she had any jealous exes, a grin spreading across her plump lips once more. "Perhaps~" she shrugged as she pulled her seatbelt into place. "It won't be my heart they fight you for, though, just my money," she admitted as she glanced back up towards the house. It all boiled down to money, she was sure, but at least Charlie didn't seem to want her money or her heart. She leaned over the center console to tease him, a smirk and a feigned flirtatious look cascading over her features. "Look at you... Already such a charming and protective fiancé. You're making me swoon," she cooed, throwing the car into reverse just as she saw the figure of his father coming towards her car at a hurried pace. She pulled away from the close proximity with Charlie to peel out of the drive way, setting off towards the little bar and grill to truly begin her first evening getting to know Charlie.
