Hayden huffed. "You aren't just going to leave. It's late. Can't you wait until morning? And why isn't it safe? What's going on?" He was tired, and confused. He still had a lot to do, but the things that had happened were more important. He shook his head, and swiped his palms across his jeans.

Eclipse sighed again. "I have to leave before I get... captured. If you come with me to my house, I can explain in the morning." He then started walking away, leaving Hayden to decide if he wanted to come with or go separate ways.

Hayden huffed, and glared around. He didn't feel like Eclipse really wanted him to come, and he had a lot of stuff to do anyways. With a conflicted look, he turned to go the other way, not following Eclipse. If he needed help, he'd find him, he always could. He started jogging again, trying to back to his house before it was late.

. . . T i m e s k i p . . . Eclipse had woken up early, as usual. He'd made himself some coffee, before starting to pack up what he needed most and what couldn't be left. Finishing an hour later, Eclipse walked out of the house to enjoy the day before he left... forever. Strolling down the street, he heard a commotion some distance away. Thanks to his enhanced senses, he was able to find out where it was happening. Eclipse went closer. It seemed to be a fight of some sort, and it looked like someone was on the ground, while someone else was kicking them. He ran up to the fight, pushing away whoever was in his path. "Hey! Stop it!" He yelled, getting to past the bystanders. The person who was kicking the other turned around, before sneering. "And who might you be?" "I would suggest stopping." Eclipse spoke, voice low. The person laughed. "Oh yeah? What are you gonna do?" He said while laughing. "You don't know what I'm capable of." Eclipse snarled. He was absolutely disgusted about this whole thing. The person laughed again, before attempting to punch him. Eclipse caught the other's fist before it hit him, before squeezing it and twisting his arm. Then, he flipped the other person onto the ground, putting his foot on his chest. "Pathetic. Can't even last a minute against me." He said, disgusted. Letting go of the person, he went over to the person still on the ground. "Hey, are you o- Hayden?! What are you doing here?!"

Hayden stood up, sniffing, and wiping the blood off his face. "We just keep meeting." There was a touch of bitterness in his voice. Hayden wiped the dirt off his ripped shirt, and sighed. "Thought you said you were leaving," he said, and wrenched his nose back into place with a hiss of pain.

Eclipse sighed. "Yeah, well I still am. I decided that I'll stay for the rest of the day and then leave at night." Fidgeting around for a moment, he rubbed his face with his hand, before taking in a deep breath. Eclipse beckoned with his hand for the other to follow him. "C'mon, let's go get you cleaned up. I should probably also explain to you about everything, too..." When Eclipse was sure that Hayden was good enough to follow, he started walking back to his house, glancing behind him several times to make sure he was still there. Once they reached the house, Eclipse opened the door and stepped in, before walking away to get a new outfit and some bandages. Walking back to Hayden, Eclipse handed the clothes and bandages to him, then began to speak. "The bathroom's just down the hall. And wrap yourself in some bandages, you might have a few injuries."

Hayden sighed, but took the clothes with a word of thanks. He found the bathroom with ease, and looked at himself in the mirror. His reddish hair was slightly dirty, and his shirt was ripped. His arms were bleeding, and his hands had started to look like they might start bleeding again too. He pulled off the ripped clothing, and carefully slid on the fresh, shoving the discarded clothes out of the way with his foot. The clothes didn't fit perfectly, Eclipse had always been much taller than Hayden, but he didn't mind too much. He cleaned his cuts, and haphazardly bound them with the bandages. He padded out of the bathroom, and back down the hall to where Eclipse waited.
"So. Can you explain now?"

Eclipse waited for a few minutes, and then Hayden finally came out. As he saw the other in his clothes, he slightly blushed. Taking a moment to adjust, Eclipse cleared his throat and began to speak. "Right- So uh... Last night, I said I wasn't safe here anymore, right? Well..." He trailed off, not knowing what to say. Taking a deep breath, Eclipse continued on. "Well, in short, I am a Shifter. I have the power to shift into basically anything, as long as it's not... As long as I know what it looks like and what I want to look like. And on a Shifter's twenty-second birthday, we get our Marks. Our Marks are a pawprint on one cheek, and it's black until we find our soulmate and such." He paused for a moment, before continuing on. "My uh- My-" He began but cut off as he began to tear up. "My- My family- They- They were also S-Shifters. But- But they-" Eclipse began to sob, tears trailing down his cheeks. "They were k-killed! They- By h-hunters! They- They're- They're all g-gone! I- I'm all- All alone n-now! No- No one..." He broke down, unable to speak anymore.

Hayden's eyes went wide throughout the story and when Eclipse started crying, he jumped up, and wrapped his arms around his childhood friend. He was still trying to process, but having his friend in tears was more important to fix first. Hayden bit his lip, and slowly rocked hinself and Eclipse back and forth, the way his mother had when he was small, and had skinned his knee, or something. "So we have to find your soulmate? How are we supposed to know when we found them? What's your type even?" Hayden didn't really know how to help, but maybe, if he offered to help, that would at least be a start. When Hayden wrapped his arms around Eclipse to comfort him, his eyes widened and he leaned into the hug. He started to cry even more when the other began to rock both of them. He hadn't felt this much comfort since... since his family was killed. A while later, when Eclipse was finally calming down, he wiped his tears and shakily sighed. "S- Sorry a- about that..." He apologized, voice wobbly after crying so much. Waiting for a little bit until he was a little calmer, Eclipse thought about Hayden's earlier questions about how he will find his soulmate. "Well, to answer your earlier questions, I will know when I've found my soulmate when my Mark turns from black to a very dark red. Once we have fallen in love with each other or whatever, it will then turn a brighter - but still dark - red. I think it'd be crimson red. Then I will be able to Mark them if they are not a full Shifter or something like that." He explained, trying to remember all that he'd been taught or had learned. Eclipse sighed again. "I've never really fallen in love, as it's only been admiration of some people. But I guess my type is someone who is somewhat flirty, loyal to our relationship, selfish when the time is right, honest, and confident enough. I don't really care who they are, as long as they treat me right and all that."
