Rowan was attempting to calm down Frost while also making sure whatever attacked them was well and truly dead. Attempting being the key word in this situation. Frost, in his fright, reared up, his sharp hoof slicing her her shoulder. It wasn't a deep cut, but it startled her into dropping the reins. Instead of getting mad, Rowan began to sing a soft tune, words blurring into a melody that was soft and sweet. She slowly walked forward, and when Frost made a move to rear up again when the creature twitched, she grabbed the bridal and brought his head down, never breaking her song. Frost's nostrils flared and his ears pinned back, but slowly he began to relax, before finally dipping his head and rubbing it against Rowan. Not once did her singing falter.

Alvy witnessed this all with a pained expression. Poor horse, he was so scared and frightened. The woman seemed to have some odd magical aura on her that Alvaro couldn't pin down as one certain type of magical creature. Of course, Alvaro didn't know everything in this universe so this was an opportunity to learn a bit more. In fact, the woman's aura was rather weak, perhaps she didn't even know what she was. Maybe she didn't even know magic existed. In that case.. Alvy strained to hide his mark. This close to the magic borders made the whole thing rather troublesome. He should probably get the woman away from the borders before she got impaled by the guards or something anyways. With loud steps he walked into the clearing, the osprey watching it all nervously. "Hey um, do ya need some help there? I see all the blood and stuff and you're quite a bit a ways from the hum- I mean town." He seemed practically clueless to the fact that this could be taken as a threatening sort of thing. Since he was a grown man and she was a woman and they were alone. In fact, he wasn't even thinking about that, he was just worried about the horse. Alvaro disliked most humans, they killed often for sport and instead of building around forests or in them, they tore them down. Which was a big reason why he hated them so much. They had torn down three of his last homes and this time he had made sure that no humans were getting through to his new home.

Rowan stiffened when she heard noise, and didn't hear a thing the stranger said. She was too concerned with her horse, and the fact that someone had caught her. If Frost hadn't been injured, she would have ran right then and there. Wary would be putting it lightly. After eleven years almost on her own, Rowan had learned to not be as trusting as she once was. But, if this man did turn out to be okay, and because he didn't seem bothered by the fact that she was female, Rowan figured it wouldn't hurt to have an extra pair of hands. ""Do you happen to have any wraps? Frost is injured, since we were attacked by... that creature,"" Rowan gestured towards the still form of some horrific beast, ""And it hurt him.: Edited at July 18, 2020 01:38 AM by bumblebee

Alvaro looked concerned for the horse, but also looked disgusted by the dead creature. He walked over to it and nudged it with his foot. The thing was dead and now he could see now what it was. "Manticore, filth." The man said under his breath. The creatures shouldn't have been that close to the boundary and he was worried about that. The creatures were deadly to all races, including faeries. They were mindless creatures capable of only destruction and harm. Thankfully, this one was a young creature by the size of it. Otherwise he might be having to take a dead body back to the human town. He turned back around and faced the woman with a relaxed facial expression, though he was tensed after looking over the creature. The osprey had hopped onto his head and was digging its talons into hair. The bird of prey still had an arrow stuck through his wing though it didn't look very concerned about it. He brought a small pack over his shoulder. In it were medical supplies for smaller, less fatal injuries. The osprey on his head needed more medical care than he could currently give it with his supplies which was why he hadn't just left it there. Out of his bad he brought out a jar of some sort of medicinal herb that could help injuries close faster, along with a pure white cotton wrap. Throwing the pack back over his shoulder, he held out the things to the young woman. The tiniest bit of his green marking peaking out from some of his curly hair.

Rowan was too worried about her horse to pay much mind to whatever the other looked like. She took the materials, and with deft hands applied the ointment to his cuts, and for the marks on Frost's legs, put on the ointment then wrapped the cotton around it. Rowan had had to splint her own broken leg before, and have had to do the same for others in the past. This was nothing new. Handing the ointment and leftover wrap back to the man, she murmured a sincere, "Thank you," While looking over Frost. The horse blew out a puff of air, and nuzzled her arm, where she was still bleeding from Frost's hooves. She shrugged at her horses concern, and just tore off her sleeve to wrap the cut. The white cotton fabric was soon a brilliant red, but it staunched the flow until she could get back to the Inn she was staying at.

The osprey was now back on Alvaro's shoulder again. He had put away the leftover items in his bag and was now looking at the horse and human with a deep concern. Of course, this woman wasn't exactly a human but since he didn't know the word for her kind he was mentally just calling her human. "You shouldn't venture this deep into the forest. It's dangerous for most people, even if you are highly skilled in killing animals." He pointedly looked at the arrow that had killed the manticore easily. Alvy had not a single weapon on him. Kind of disproving his point. Though he seemed at ease, maybe a little tense, but otherwise he was calm.

Looking up at the trees around her, Rowan blinked hard once, than twice. "I've never gone this deep into it before..." she looked at the creature that was not normal, then at the man with a bird on his shoulder. "Magic," she whispered under her breath. Rowan knew of the magic in the world - why, her own mother had it! - and that there were stories of places filled with magic and mystery. This seemed to be one of them. "You are magic, too, then?" It wasn't so much of a question than a statement, for she was not deft and heard him whisper, 'Manticore' at the creature. "And this is a magic place. I've never been to one before." Frost nickered and Rowan found herself nodding with him, "My friend," she directed her words to the gelding, "You are quite a creature to evade that while I fumbled like a buffoon on your back."

Alvaro looked rather relieved and allowed his pointy ears and glowing mark to return with a deep sigh. His wings stayed hidden, just because that was something he had learned to hide long ago and it no longer made him tired to hide them. "Oh thank the gods. Hiding this thing was getting hard since it's so magical here. But yea, you're correct. This whole area of the woods is sparked with magical energy. It's quite dangerous for any normal human but then again, you're not normal. And you are no buffoon, any normal person would've fallen off their horse and either fled or gotten eaten. Neither of which are pleasant to think about. I must say, you took out that manticore rather easily, do you have a strength boost or something? Oh dear, sorry, I'm being rude. I'll shut up now." Alvy wasn't a social person. Talking was one of the few things he hadn't mastered and that was because he was to curious about everything to not ask question after question. Meanwhile, the injured osprey on his head began to make soft whines of pain. Earlier Alvaro had put a quick spell on her that had eased her pain, now the spell was wearing off and the arrow was being pushed deeper into her wing. Which was not good at all.

As the man - or creature, or whatever he was - began to talk, asking her questions, a frown appeared on Rowan's face. "Woah there. I'm a human. My mom was the magical one - all I got was her way with animals. I'm a healer as well though, and trained in that field. Want me to look at your bird?" Rowan was totally evading some of his questions, but hey? She had her right to privacy. Though, Rowan supposed since she didn't even know, it wasn't really evading.

Alvaro chuckled softly, thinking she was joking at first. Then realizing she wasn't. "You're definitely not human ma'am. I can see your aura. It's faint but I think that as you age you'll get more powers than you realize. Anyways, no, I can take care of Clem in my own home. Thank you for offering though, she appreciates it. Though she doesn't like you calling her a bird." He smirked a tiny bit and Clem gave a tiny chirp of agreement. Then she buried herself in Alvy's hair because she thought this woman was quite scary.
