Sloane snorted, "Whatever, dragon-boy. It wasn't that big of a deal - don't make it out to be that way." She mentally punched back the flush of red that turned her into a tomato anytime someone recognized something that she did. Sloane didn't like to have any one person put their attention on her, and hated it when people thanked her for stuff. She just wanted to do whatever without having to worry about any confrontation afterwards - especially when Sloane was absolutely awful at accepting anything, even if it was a thank you.

Kanu tried to shrug mindlessly but hissed in pain as his body screamed at the sudden movement. For a moment, he was completely off balance and seemed to be somewhere else entirely, but he quickly forced himself to recover. Desciding that it would be best to return to his own room as quickly as his limping form could. "Well thank you anyways, I know that deep down, your not being an ass about accepting my thanks. I won't say anything though. Now if you would excuse me, I need to hurriedly limp back to my room before I pass out." Kanu gave Sloane one last cocky grin before turning around and wobbling, very slowly, towards his room.

Sloane watched the prince of hell limp down the hall, glaring at his back the whole time. She absolutely hated him - yet he didn't seem to take the hint. There was a squeak as Sloane turned on her heel and stormed down the hall, her eyes stormy and brows knit together. Why did he seem to know something she didn't? And why did it bother her so much?

The shifter turned his head slightly as Sloane stormed away, amusement lighting his features for a moment before it quickly disappeared. Kanu knew he was frusturating, but he couldn't help but try and get under Sloane's hard outer shell. Granted, he'd really done it the other day, when he'd been drunk out of his damn mind, and he hadn't really meant for her to get upset. Kanu just knew people, and read everyone easily. It wasn't that he knew something no one else did, he just was good with people.

i can.)) - Sloane had spent her days exercising, sparing with the King's troops (always winning, of course), spending time with her beasts, and hanging out in a local shady bar. With her cloak hood up at the corner table, no one disturbed her. Until one day a finely dressed man sat down at her table. Sloane was fixing to tell him to piss off when he slid a letter across the table, which Sloane pocketed, recognizing the seal that had been on the almost-assassins armor. "How can I know it's not forgery?" Sloane grumbled, leaning back carelessly. The figure tilted their hood back enough for her to see their face, and match it to one of the assassins that had crashed the dinner party. Sloane nodded once, "Alright."

Kanu was cooped up inside the palace for most of his healing process. It was a tough recovery, and every now and then the pain became to much and he was confined to his bedroom for three days straight at times. It took two weeks for Kanu to be allowed to leave, which was good, as he was running out of muscle for the dragon inside to eat. Kanu had been happily taking in the outside air, his wings out and his scales gleaming in the bright sun. It was a beautiful day, that of course had to be ruined by an approaching human. Kanu glared furiously as the hooded figure slid next to him and discreetly gave the prince a letter. "You idiots can't give a demon a damn break huh?" Kanu hissed, his words sharp and annoyed. The man next to him flinched at the barely human words but Kanu just shrugged. "Scram, I'll read the damn letter okay?" The human nodded then disappeared. Kanu wanted to sleep.

The letter was finely penned, and Sloane figured that Kanu would soon be receiving a similar letter: Princess Sloane of the Kingdom of the Heavens, The time has come to take action against the current King of Earth, and replace him with a better Queen, who will stop bothering the Immortal worlds with petty tasks. With the palace being tightly guarded and protected, it is near impossible for spies or assassins to slip inside the palace and get close to the King. The group was able to accomplish part of this task: there is a woman inside the palace by the name of Samantha Treeborn. She has a strong poison that will kill the King, but has not been able to get close enough. By using poison and not a direct attack, this will allow the Heavens and Hell to not be targeted by any who are angry at the King's death. After his passing, the new Queen, who is waiting nearby, will enter the palace and take over. From there, your job is finished, and you will not be responsible for the future of the Queen's rule. Be careful, cautious, and quick, and be sure not to let anyone know it was you or the Prince of Hell that poisoned the King. The Resistance

Kanu flew off and landed in a tree deep in the forest, not wanting a soul to see the letter he was opening. It was just a run down of the plot to kill the King. It was basic assassin stuff, and he assumed it was basically a copy of Sloane's. The only changes being his name and a few, simple, other things. He thought it was obvious that he should be the one to kill the King, as it was his specialty of course. But as Kanu continued on his murderous thoughts, he realized that maybe that was exactly what Shoter would expect. After all, Kanu wasn't known for being the most trustworthy demon ever.
