It had taken Kanu a week to fully stabilize his body. He was doing decent after the recovery, but he was still in pain and every now and then his body would be racked with tremors joined with a hellish fever. So the normal for his poisoned body. Kanu was finally being allowed to wander the halls, though it was stressed that he should take it easy, and for once he would listen. He didn't just wander the halls though, he was purposefully strutting about, trying to find Sloane. His shadow-like wings trailed behind him as he had no energy to tuck them away. His body was littered with scales, and he all around didn't look too well. Yet his dumbass was still trying to find Sloane.

Sloane had stayed away from the palace for a few days, deciding to explore the city. She found out the difficult way that she wasn't able to blend in her current attire, so Sloane purchased some male commoners clothing and a heavy black cloak, and found it much easier afterwards to travel unnoticed. One day, though, she headed back to the palace. Sloane wouldn't admit it out loud, but she hoped to run into one of the advisors and check on that idiot Kanu. Kanu roamed the halls, intently searching for Sloane though it was slow going. Every now and then the poor shifter had to pause and catch his breathe. He supposed that he wasn't 'taking it easy' as the advisors had said he should but he honestly didn't care. He liked being out and about, even if it caused him to tremble uncontrollably and the human servants looked at him all strangely.

What would you guess. Sloane was simply walking through the halls when she spotted the idiot himself. That had not been the goal. Sloane didn't want to actually talk to Kanu. She had just wanted to be sure that he was alive.

Kanu was leaning against the wall, taking a short break, when he spotted Sloane. His face lit up and for a moment he looked just like his normal, flirtatious self. Then the pain hit him again and the smile fell from his face for a moment. He quickly regained himself before limping over to Sloane. "The Princess of Heaven herself, just who I was looking for." He grinned, his scales shimmering obviously on his face.

Sloane rolled her eyes, "I guess it is good to see you breathing, although you probably should be resting.... buuut I also don't care that much, and you can do whatever you want." She took in his ragged form with an internal sigh. No way would Sloane ever voice this, but she was glad that he was alive, and looking decent considering he almost just died in her arms.

Kanu smirked, though he winced a bit when he moved to the wrong side. He suddenly turned serious, his eyes narrowing on Sloane, his smile disappearing. "I wanted to thank you, seriously, I appreciate it so much. I would have died." Kanu stared at Sloane intensely, she wasn't a mystery to him like she was to most people, but there were things about her that he didn't understand.

Sloane didn't falter under Kanu's bold gaze, "I repaid the favor. You warned me of danger, and it nearly cost you your life. If anything, I am the reason you are in this situation. No need to thank me for anything."

Kanu shook his head, his wings giving a slight tremble as pain raced up his body again. "It doesn't matter, I'm going to thank you anyways. You saved my life, and I did only what I thought I should do. You did something for me that even I might have doubts about doing. For that, I thank you, truly." His words were true and strong despite his rather... frail appearance. Edited at March 25, 2020 09:15 PM by Soaring Free
