Name:
Solan "Warrior of the Sun"
Age:
21
Gender:
Male
Species:
Phoenix-Blood
Rank:
Crown Prince of the Phoenix Clan
Appearance:
Solan is a slim built, fit individual who is obviously more built for speed than strength. He has a decent amount of muscle mass over his upper body, leaving him just lean enough to see the faint outlines of muscle, rather than just skin and bones. His slender waist leads into strong thighs and calves, but it's nothing crazy in comparison to the rest of him. Solan stands at 5'10" or so, perhaps a bit taller if you count the spiky fluff at the top of his head.
His skin tone is a fair golden color, making his skin light, but not ghostly. The undertone of his skin emits a golden hue, especially in the trail of where the most prominent veins in his body lie. It's almost as if he carries the embodiment of the sun with him.
His hair is a thick mess, the black locks tipped in scarlet red at each unruly piece. His hair is often kept at a medium length; too short to be pulled into a pony tail, but just long enough to fall into his eyes or over his ears. He probably cuts it himself most of the time, which leads to that spiky, choppy look. It seems to suit him, though.
Along his back sits a pair of sizable feathered wings, their color ranging from that same deep scarlet as the tips of his hair, to a brilliant golden color at the bottoms and ends. The color shift bears an ombré effect and often causes him to appear as if he's arriving on wings of pure fire. His wing span is around 11.5 feet, making them plenty big and strong enough to carry him considerable distances without question.
Unlike that of most of his people, his outfit generally consists of dark black leathers instead of vibrant gold and scarlet. His base layer is a simple black tank top covering his torso to prevent discomfort, and above that lies a thick black leather hide fashioned into a vest with golden clasps and buckles. It's not impenetrable, but the thickness does well to fend away most blows. His pants are made of more pliable material, light and comfortable for quickened movement. Though it is more of a fashion statement and a symbol of his rank, Solan wears golden cuffs around each bicep, both of which have a fully transformed crowned Phoenix etched into them.
At his waist lies a simple gold colored belt with a few loops for attaching supplies such as a waterskin. More often than not hangs a glittering scarlet pouch containing a vile of shimmering gold liquid— the healing tears of a phoenix. His own, actually. Down each of his thighs are a set of sheaths, two on each side. He's a lover of knives, throwing knives to be specific, and he's rarely ever seen without those sheaths full.
His eyes are certainly his most piercing feature. Much like his general expression, Solan's eyes can be described as predatory. The irises are a striking dark red color with strands of gold and orange surrounding his pupils, once more imitating that look of fire and sun.
Personality:
Solan is a distant, "lone wolf" type of person. He's quiet, preferring to sit off to the side and observe rather than openly engage. This is quite different from his clan, as the others prefer their safety in numbers, in the flock that they create nestled together. He often bears a grumpy expression, his arms typically crossed and eyes narrowed. He could be perfectly happy, but you'd never know it without asking. Though, his definition of happy probably isn't that of most.
He's seen a stern and serious prince, the no bullshit type who could really use letting loose. And he could— he just needs time away from the overbearing wings of his people. He doesn't like to feel smothered, and given their bird genetics, they're the type to preen and show an ungodly amount of affection to one another.
When he does find time alone, however, he can often be found perched in a tree, relaxed across thick limbs while watching leaves sway in the breeze. Maybe he'll even have a book and a satchel of sweet berries to occupy himself.
Solan never hesitates to talk about war and what needs to be done. He doesn't enjoy fighting, but he's good at it, as well as leading. He's always had a natural ability to take control of tense situations and if he can't first eliminate conflict through sternness and demand, he'll easily do it with a fight. He's an aggressive bird— more aggressive than most. He doesn't quite like that quality about himself, but he tries to believe that it's better that way.
Though it can take some coaxing, Solan can actually be pretty relaxed when alone with someone. He'll likely be guarded and watching said person like a hawk for the first moments, but in time he softens and shows that there actually is a beating heart somewhere in his chest and not just a mass of stone occupying his chest cavity. He might even offer you a smile, or something that resembles it at least.
He does not know how to take genuine affection. He generally doesn't like to even be touched, instead shying away and slipping out of reach. He tries to be gentle with it, considering how it comes natural to his people, but he's been known to become overwhelmed and slightly defensive when suddenly grabbed and touched. He could probably use a good hug, the person just has to be relentless enough to make him calm down in the process.
Being as cold and distant as he is, he often doesn't realize that he's hurt someone's feelings. He does care, he's just terrible at being a light and airy person. He doesn't think about how something might sound before he speaks, he just says it, and it's often at the expense of another's emotions. However, he's not too prideful (most of the time) to correct his mistakes once he realizes that one has been made. If he's the one hurting, it's almost as if the fight in his soul leaves. He'll shut down, hide, do anything and everything to avoid his problems. And when his problems find him? He's likely to be aggressive at first before he ultimately breaks down into a soft little mess.
Solan is not everyone's cup of tea. He's rough around every edge and difficult to get to know, but truthfully? He's just a grumpy little man indeed of a stubborn, controlling hug. Just a wounded soul in need of comfort.
Abilities:
•Rebirth From Ashes- Most phoenixes contain the ability to be reborn from the ashes upon their death. This means that if Solan is ever mortally wounded or gravely ill, his body will combust into flames, burning until nothing is left but black ash. It is a vulnerable state, but it allows him to be revived with nothing more than a scar and trauma.
•Phoenix's Tears- The tears of a Phoenix is their healing elixir. Fresh and straight from the source, they are capable of healing some of the most horrid of wounds, however, they can be collected and kept to heal more minor injuries as well.
•Sharp Talons- Solan has the ability to transform his hands into deadly sharp talons. They can slice and dig into flesh as if it were nothing, however the transformation often leaves his knuckles busted open and bleeding.
•Inhuman Speed- Though he is obviously built for speed, he moves at such swift speeds when in the air that it is often hard to keep track of him if you don't expect it. He's rather fast on foot too, but it's nothing compared to flight.
Strengths:
•His Phoenix lineage essentially grants him immortality up until a certain age, so long his ashes are protected.
•A natural born leader. He guides with ease and convinces others to follow just as easily.
•Well read. He loves to read, be it fictional material or old war logs. Either way, he'll learn something and enjoy himself.
Weaknesses:
•His gruff personality makes it hard to get along with others. He doesn't play nice usually unless he's made.
•His smaller build often makes him a target for larger opponents. He can hold his own, but it's definitely a bigger fight than he's comfortable with.
•He doesn't know how to talk about his emotions. He bottles them up until they combust, shaking him to the core and rendering him nearly useless. At least, that's how he feels.
Family:
•Ignatius, Phoenix King, Solan's father (80)
•Pyrona, Phoenix Queen, Solan's mother (Deceased by 13 years)
•Solara, Phoenix Princess, Solan's sister (13)
Other:
Later, perhaps^_^
