Silas Name: Silas Elsher Age: 27 Gender: Male Sexuality: Heterosexual Faction: Upper Class Appearance: Silas has very dark features throughout his face, especially when it comes to his eyes. His eyes are almost black, and there is not much distinction between his pupil and iris, and can only be differentiated in the light. His eyes are siren shaped, and he has long thick lashes to accompany them. Moving to his hair, which is also a deep jet black, and is usually tamed with a bit of homemade gel the hairstylist makes, however, he only uses it on special occasions. Silas' hair is cut into slightly long at the back, but only reaching the nape of his neck, and fairly long and floppy on the top. He doesn't really have much style when it comes to his hair, and doesn't spend much time making it look good. Silas' skin is fairly pale, living underground and never seeing the real sun. Of course they have UV rays within the compartments, but Silas never really uses them despite his parents continuing to pressure him to do, so he is extremely pale. This makes his dark features even more prominent. He has a few dark moles on his face, one on his cheek and a couple on his neck. Silas' is very physically strong, due to consistently working out in the gym, and his arms are very large, particularly his forearms. His hands are tough, often covered in blisters from his line of work. Silas works within the higher factions, doing manual labour for the buildings. Silas loves it, and it means keeping his mind busy and away from his parents badgering him to stop and rest himself. The rest of his body is also strong, with large muscular legs and strong shoulders. However, he doesn't have a ripped body. Silas often wears his work clothes, as he is at work for the majority of his time, so this consists of some cargo style trousers and a black vest top. Often, he is covered in dirt and concrete. However, there are often a lot of meals he must attend to, due to his family being almost like royality. So he does dress up well in a suit and tie sometimes. Personality: Silas is very hot headed, and has very little patience when it comes to his work. His mindset is strong, due to his family's hard work. They worked very hard to be a high position and he never takes it for granted. He would never class himself as weak and nothing really fazes him anymore. When it comes to his family, Silas is so loving and caring, and they do get on his nerves a lot. All Silas wants to do is work and do his bit, but they are constantly insisting on having a good little life away from any hard work. Which, Silas believes is not fair, so he continues to do so away from them and against their wishes. Silas struggles with getting his head around the unfairness within the underground structure, and feels like there is a siginifcant divide between the levels. He has always tried his absolute best to make sure everything is as fair as can be, and strives towards making a change, but he is aware that this is very unlikely to ever happen. His parents are completely against Silas with this, so he has not mentioned it again to them knowing their wishes. Background: Silas comes from a very rich family, who have worked hard to get to where they are, but Silas knows this was all bias and they would've gotten to the top regardless. Silas basically lives in a mansion, and even though it is underground, it is miles better than down below. Silas has a very privileged position and he is aware of that. He constantly has marriage proposals due to his age getting to the point where he should consider marriage, but he does not want that yet. Silas still strives for equality, and the snobby women who are wanting his attention are not what he looks for. Silas loves a woman who is hard working like him, and they have all had their life handed to them on a silver platter. Silas does not like people who are obnoxious and snobby, which unfortunately is constant where he lives. He often goes down below and gives people free food and tokens for nice things. He has always been so kind with them, as he knows how hard they work and he doesn't like it. One day, he would love to go to the surface and see what is out there, just to escape the reality of his life for 5 minutes. |

Affiliation/Occupation
Mineral Miner Supervisor: Her family runs the main mineral miner operation in the Lower Levels, so Aurora has worked in the mines most of her life. She digs out minerals, fuel, and other material that are vital for survival (alongside pretty rocks the Upper Levels like to hoard). However, also as a supervisor, she watches over the four different positions and manages them as well.
Furthermore, while she mostly manages and digs (which is the position of The Breaker). She has also helped in the three other positions. The Canary's who go with certain Breakers into new tunnels to test the air quality. The Hauler's load ores, minerals, and other loot the Breaker's find into carts and pushes them back into the sorting area. Where the Sifter's sort through the loads to separate the valuables from the useless.

Appearance
Aurora stands at a solid 5'10, and a decent 153lbs. She has a proportional body, and thankfully none of her limbs seem abnormally long or short. Most of her height comes from her legs, and her build is quite lean and decently muscular. Although she does not have the bulky and muscular athletic bodies that most the males do, it is still quite obvious that she is athletic and spends a lot of time in the mines. She is usually deep in the mines, working with the Breakers digging. However, she also works with the Hauler's and Sifter's, so she definitely is working with heavy loads quite often. She has pretty strong legs from lifting things, however, most of her strength and muscles are located around her forearms, where she has built strength from mining and hauling. Furthermore her hands are quite calloused from hauling and sifting. Her core, back, and legs also host a decent amount of muscle from doing other jobs, but her strongest assests come from her forearms and shoulders.
Aurora has slightly wavy copper colored hair, that stretches just past her waist. However, she often keeps it up in a tight braid or a very tight bun. Very rarely does she ever wear it down since she spends a majority of her time in the mines. If she is out of the mines, she might wear it down, but she typically has it up in some kind of style that keeps it out of her face. While her eyes are often described as being deep sapphire blue, which often pop even more when she does wear her hair down. They often look like a dark color of blue since they are underground and remain on the lower levels as well. However, in the light (like lamps), they do seem a little bit lighter. Her natural skin tone is pale ivory and since they live underground, has remained that way since birth. Although, there are UV rays that are available for artifical tanning, those are most commonly found in the Upper Levels. Most of the Lower Levels remain quite pale in contrast because they cannot afford it. However, the pale ivory matches well with her hair and eye color and actually doesn't make her look unnaturally pale.
One feature that Aurora is actually quite fond of are the freckles that are on her face. They are not prominent and absolutely easy to see, however they are visible. They are lightly smattered across her cheekbones. Aurora's body is covered with scars, most of them come from her years in the mines, however a decent amount of them also come from childhood shenanigans. There are some from tripping on a rock, or when one of her brother's and her were wrestling and she busted her head open on the coffee table. There are a lot more from the mines, such as when she didn't aim her pickaxe right and somehow caught herself with it. Or when she was trying to break a rock open for the ore and caught her finger.
She is always found wearing a simple silver necklace that hosts her level (and family's) crest, a simple pickaxe representing their occupation. She is most often found in dirty trousers and whatever shirt she found that morning. She has very little care about her appearance as usually five minutes into work, she's covered in dirt, grim, and sweat. Since most of their life is focused on their work and surviving, and everybody on the Lower Levels has that kind of hard labor look, nobody on the Lower Levels really cares about their appearances. She has dressed up once for the one rare time her family actually got to go to the Upper Levels. Which she does clean up nice for.
Tonal/Voice
Aurora's voice is actually decently pleasant, not to high and not to low. There is a hint of smoothness to her voice, but more often than not, it is usually rough and gravelly from hours of shouting in the mines. They communicate often to ensure each other's safety, so it is often worn out from all the shouting. She keeps it level and calm, and usually authoritative when dealing with a few rebellious miners. However, in relaxing moments at home, she can be more playful and her voice lightens up and even takes on a teasing tilt to her voice. When she is excited or passionate about something, she talks quite fast, however most of the time she talks at a moderate pace.
Personality
Aurora is a very no nonsense woman, which she gets from her mother. She has expectations and if people do them, then they are fine. Like her mother, she absolutely does not do disrespect, and is not hesitant to put people in their places. She wants things done and she wants them done right, and as long as her people are doing their job, then she's happy.
However, she is also quite a sweet woman who has an incredible soft spot for her family. They are her vulnerable point. However she is incredibly protective and loyal, and would not hesitate to tear somebody to shreds for them. Especially her younger siblings.
She holds a lot of patience, used to doing grueling and terrible work for long hours. She can be considered a complainer, but she will do the job anyways. More often than not, she only really complains to her father and brother and that is just to mess with them. In reality, she doesn't actually complain and she does her job well. She is a hard worker, and she knows that as terrible mining is, it is what keeps food on their table and clothes on their body, so she really doesn't mind it.
Like most of the Lower Levels, she holds a certain disposition about the Upper Levels. However, she is not as passionate or upset about it as most of the other Lower Levels. Whereas, others will curse them and spat on them any chance they can get. Aurora just sort of tolerates them. She doesn't worship them or ever really speak positively about them, she isn't exactly cursing them either.
She's a typically level headed person who relies on patience and calmness to lead and guide those under her supervison. She knows rushing and demanding will get her less or nothing. She isn't afraid to get down and dirty, as seen by the fact she spends most her shift with the Breaker's, swinging away with her pickaxe.
Relationships
Finn Valerius
Father. Alive. Finn and Aurora have a very close father-daughter bond. Finn is very protective over his family. Despite the hardships and the long times spent in the mines, they are all very close. Aurora is Finn's second in command in the mines, well alongside Kai, but Finn and Kai often turn to Aurora. Finn is also the unoffical mayor of their level, and everybody often goes to him with their problems.
Claire Valerius
Mother. Alive. Claire and Aurora are very close as well, Claire is a very nurting mother, but very fierce as well. She is also a no nonsense woman, and she raises her children lovingly but firmly and does not tolerate disrespect. She used to be a Sifter, however went to part time when she gave birth to Kai, then Aurora and raising them. Then she quit completely and focused on raising the twins when they were born. She handles the books, payments, and shipments between their level and others now.
Kai Valerius
Older Brother. Alive. Kai and Aurora are only two years apart, making Kai 27 years old. They are just as close as can be though. Best friends, siblings, and partners in crime. When they were younger, they were attached at the hip. This is still mostly true, whenever they can, however since they have more responsibilities, they are more likely to be found apart. He is also a Supervisor in the mines, helping his father and his sister run the mines.
Atticus Valerius
Younger Brother. Older Twin to Aurelia. Alive. Atticus is 15 years younger than Aurora, and is the older twin (by three minutes) to Aurelia. The twins were very much an accident, however, are very much loved and adored by their family. They are the babies of the family, and are very protected. Aurora adores Atticus, and often reads / tells him stories.
Aurelia Valerius
Younger Sister. Younger Twin to Atticus. Alive. Aurelia is 15 years youngder than Aurora and is the younger twin to Atticus. Aurora and Aurelia are very close as well. Aurelia's favorite thing is whenever Aurora comes back from the marketplace with some small but cute trinket for her. Aurora also gifted Aurelia her lion stuffed animal that Aurelia never parts with.
Oliver Smith
Maternal Uncle. Alive. The Smith family lives in the house next to the Valerius, and the two families are incredibly close. Oliver is a goofy but fun loving guy who used to work in the mines. Shortly after James was born, Oliver fell victim to an accident in the mines that reduced Oliver to a wheelchair. However, he never lets that slow him down and he is always joking and laughing with the family. He teases Aurora on a daily (in a playful way) and they always have some amusing banter going on.
Evelyn Smith
Maternal Aunt. Alive. Evelyn is the younger sister to Aurora's mom (Claire) and is a very sweet and soft spoken woman. She helps Claire with the books, payments, and shipments. She and Aurora are pretty close as well.
James Smith
Cousin. Alive. James is Aurora's older cousin (by a year) and lives with his mother and father in the house next door. James grew up with Kai and Aurora and are very close to the two. James works in the mines as a Hauler, and still often hangs out with Kai and Aurora.
Emma Miller
Best Friend. Alive. Emma and Aurora met in elementary school and have been inseparable ever since. Emma works in the local marketplace with her parents, but whenever there is free time, Emma is never far from Aurora's side. |

Silas walked through the corridor of his house, the walls echoing as his feet tapped against the floor. It was currently empty in the house, his parents out at an important meeting. He had no idea what about, but he didn't care to know. That was their business and theirs only. If it was important to him, then they would tell him. He padded through the hall before ending up outside, and spotting his parents arriving back from their meeting. "Silas." His father greeted. Silas just nodded back, barely acknowledging him as he put his shoes on for his day of work. "Silas, we have some news," he added, a small tinge of excitement in his voice.
Oh god. "Yes?" Silas asked, his eyes barley looking up as he sat on the step to shove his shoes on and lace them up. "We have spoken to some of our acquaintances down below in the mining faction," his father started, with his mother standing eagerly beside him. Her face was beaming with excitement. "You know, Finn and Claire Valerius?" His father asked, cocking his hip slightly and leaning against the front door of the house. Silas barely knew them, and only because they were very large in the mining community. He just grunted in response, wondering what they were doing with them. His parents rarely ever went down below for meetings. Silas finished lacing his shoes and cocked his eyebrow in curiosity. "We have a marriage arrangement for you," he grinned, his hands clapping together. Silas' face turned into one of complete shock. "What?" He shouted, immediately standing up and his hands balling into a fist with rage. "A marriage arrangement?! You know I'm not ready," he snapped, turning around and heading out towards the elevator. His father scoffed and grabbed Silas' arm to turn him back to face them. "You are ready, and it's about time. I married your mother much younger than you," he stated, his hands now on his hips in disappointment. Silas knew he wouldn't be able to get out of this one. He felt so much conflicting emotions and he didn't know how to feel. Silas had had so many marriage proposals, all of which he turned down. He was a picky man, and who could blame him? He wanted to meet someone organically, and real. And he knew that was quite far fetched, but that was all he wanted. It may sound cliche or stupid. Silas sighed softly, shaking his head and glancing down to his feet. "Fine. What's her name?" He asked, raising his eyebrow. "Aurora Valerius, Finn's daughter," his father answered, with excitement.
Ohh, that's why he asked. Silas hadn't heard of her. Which may be a good thing. "She's one of the managers who supervises the mine. She's a hard worker and we believe she would be suited to you. We've just had a meeting with Finn and Claire, and they agreed," his mother spoke up, with a big smile on her face. Silas just sighed softly. It sounded positive, and he should be excited to finally have a life partner. But Silas was so content with his life he didn't want to be constrained to a woman and marriage. Because he knew that children would be expected to follow. And he certainly didn't want children to be brought up in the crap place. It was depressing. Silas just nodded, "When do I meet her?" He asked, nibbling on his bottom lip. "Tonight! We have a dinner with them," his mother said, which caused Silas to groan. It was already 12pm and he didn't have much time to prepare. So much for giving him warning. He decided not to kick off, knowing there was nothing he could do now to stop it. He could only just hope that this woman was friendly and not an arse. "Is this a fucking joke?" Silas snapped, ripping his arm away from his father's grasp. His father's face turned back into disappointment, shaking his head and tutting softly. "Silas, you need to marry. Any later and you will never do it." He said sternly. Silas just scoffed, his eyes rolling like a misbehaved toddler. "I don't want to marry anyone," he argued back, earning him a hard punch on the arm from his mother. "You will marry her, and it's happening. You will meet her tonight and have a smile on your face, whether you like it or not," she spat angrily. Silas was stunned from words and just nodded. Rich parents and their arranged marriages. It was insane. |
